N´Kai remains and will remain in the foreseeable future thick-headedly Neutral Good ;D
And N´Kai will happily go along with Alinya for some spell-shopping. And they may also exchange spells from their books

![]() |
Alinya gets new spells in her book (took haste and vampiric touch. She could put some gold to good use buying other spells (fly comes to mind.
Also, reminder that she's got Craft Wondrous Item feat and can create cool stuff for cheap :)
I may talk to you on the crafting.
Gold for spells is a great investment - if you dont have it, MW transformation is the BOMB

Cool.
In the spirit of the DMs article on Omerta and the mafia we should probably have 'a sit down' and be properly introduced. Luckily Aethor has someone who can introduce him to you in the party

I'll update as soon as I'm able. (We all know how long THAT can take!) ;P
Regarding the updated skills-set. I always thought about making Ed the 'alchemist wannabe' of the group. (It reflects the Sherlock-ian dabbles in everything persona.) There are several decent one-shot alchemical items that can be VERY useful if we know about the situation in advance so he could cook them up. :)
And he may be able to aid Alinya in the crafting as well, using his UMD and a good skill roll to emulate the required class/etc options that Alinya can't do outright.
I also think our time/money would be well spent making Pearls of power instead of buying them. :)
I'm going to go contemplate my Bardic spell selection now. I'm keeping the healing spell, but I might contemplate some kind of mass charm/etc for the crowd battles. I've been so worried about the undead we're going to run into, I forgot that Ed's primary ability is (normal) crowd control. ;)

Aethorduil Faelaiien |

Have you thought about a dip into the new Investigator class? Though truth told some of the class features would be wasted. I suppose Alchemist would be a fun one AND would fit the concept.

Ragadolf |

I thought about dipping a level in Alchemist, just to be able to ACTUALLY concoct some things. But My initial feeling is that Detective/Bard is weak enough in enough areas that dipping into another class might actually weaken what few strengths the Archetype actually has. :)
Still, might be fun. I'll have to do some MORE reading,... ;P

Grab Ant´s +1 resistance cloak, Aethor. You were worried about your saves. Besides, everyone else has one ;P
Thanks.
Also, - tween lack of sleep from insomnia and my aniversary today I'm calling it a day here. Will post in 12 or so hours.

Yeah - get Ant back. The local Scarnzi have stepped in and they're bad enough normally. Not sure how deep the s%@& is. If the Scarnzi were just doing body guard duty as mercs when Ant and his bodyguards jumped us? It may just be 'let bygones be bygones' - if we messed with one of their operations, lost them something valuable? We're in for s@~* for the rest of this AP. We'll be dodging the Mob from here on in.
Gonna need you to use your props with your connections to get him sprung.

Ragadolf |

Delayed Congratz Helaman! :)
Hrm,... I hate to just turn Ant over. Even if we had him. ;P
But you may be correct, played out properly this could be an old-style Godfather-type pile of Liger-poo. We would never know if the bad guys are from the next chapter of the AP, or just another 'friendly visit' from our old pals. ;P
On the other hand, played out properly the OTHER way, and we turn it into a Mentalist/Patrick Jayne-Style coup! :)
Unfortunately, I must confess to not being quite as clever as Patrick Jayne, Sherlock or the Mentalist show writers. :(
Any other ideas? Besides the obvious 'Give them what they want' scenario?
I would love to figure out a way to turn this around.
('Around' = being where we find the culprit Ed is pulling his hair out over, and convince the Scarnzi that we are not worth the trouble of going after. Or that we could make MORE trouble for them if they did. At least create a 'not this time, but next time' situation.) :)

Fingers crossed they are just a local gang and not a bigger one then. Lets not screw Leiks character around. Lets just hand him over and get on with it. Nothing saying we can't hunt Ant and his mates down after we have our bug back. With the right magic or contacts its possible.

N´Kai Sureblade |

Maybe we can let Ant loose but N´Kai could place an invisible Arcane Mark on some of his stuff and let him have it back. With proper divination (read Locate Object) we can track it down, specially if N´Kai follows Ant invisibly when he is released. Just to know where they local baddies are hiding. Then we shake the Ant´s nest, so to speak.
Or we could just release Ant, although is going to be tricky to get him out of jail the day after we brought him in. And I agree with Tenro, we should release Ant only after we got what we need from him. We simply have no further clues.

Ragadolf |

Sounds like we're all on the same page. Or at least the pages next to each other. :)
(I posted in thread before reading these comments) ;P
I'm good with all of the options. Either a straight-out follow and rescue mission, or trade (after finding out what info, if any, the interrogators got from him) but making sure to mark his stuff so we can follow it back to them laters for a 'redressing of wrongs' :)
Ed has gotten oddly comfortable around the strange pyro-bug-man. He would hate to lose such an unusual companion. At least until he has gleaned a wealth of buggly information from him! ;)

N´Kai Sureblade |

Looks like a great time to update Edwin's character sheet. Let's not forget bards have access to divination spells. And I get a feeling that we are going to need his detective skills in top form.

dungeonmaster heathy |

Heathy, just wanted to say the article you posted on the Mafia was a good read and got me (even more) interested on that topic. Wanted to tell you before but just now remembered to. I am presently enjoying Mario Puzo´s The Last Don .
I read his Borgia book too; I don't read a lot of mob books, but I see a lot of mobster movies.

Doesnt matter to me if you rescue him or not, neither option upsets me.
So did i succeed or fail in fulfilling the rquirement for pyrokineticist?
sweeeeeeeeeeet. well, they better plan for a fiery awakening!

Ragadolf |

Lol!
Yes I need to update Ed. I also think we will soon need all of our respective skill points max'd out for this encounter. ;P
Hrm, must confess that I did not consider Locate Object as spell known. It is very limited in scope, but also very useful for a detective. Hrm.
:/
Regarding 'Saving Pyro Bug guy' ;)
Edwin is certainly the most self-centered of any PC I have ever played. But i believe his personal honor requires him to at least try to rescue his odd companion.
I'm not saying he'd throw himself in front of a spell for the guy,... ;)
Out of curiosity Heathy,
I own all of the AP's to date, but have not read even half of them, including this one. Was this series of encounters from the AP? Or was this another brilliant Heathy 'They're following this trail so lets give them an encounter that will eventually get them back on track' device?
:)

Heheh,... That's how we find our buggly friend. Just look for the building spontaneously combusting. :)

This is all my madness, since the University.
