Oi! My day,...
We had the Rain-pocalypse over here, almost 12 inches of rain in less than 12 hours.
Caused lots of problems.
LOTS, OF, PROBLEMS.
12 midnight, pouring rain
7:10am take daughter to catch bus to school, pouring rain, she has 8th grade grad ceremony at 9
7:30am, take son to catch bus to school, Pouring rain
8am, bus still not there, pouring rain
tell kid I'll take him to school, car won't start,
I'll call mom, oh wait, left phone at home.
Walk home, with kid, pouring rain.
8:40am, pouring rain, get in wife's car to go to daughter's graduation
Get there, kids being let out, school and grad cancelled, pouring rain.
9:30am, wife has job interview on university campus, she cannot get out of neighborhood, pouring rain, (By this time the water is about an inch from my back door)
Wife calls, gets phone interview instead, half hour later, rain stops, roads clear. Of course.
11am, go get car, get new battery, get call from work, rain water on stage, (They are doing roof work on the building)
12 noon, clean up mess on stage, and rest of building, discover more leaks,....
Icing on cake? My $10K lighting console is sitting in a puddle.
I have whiskey, but I am out of diet coke.
So, how was YOUR day? ;)
after a day like that, i'd skip the diet coke! hah

Sorry mate. Any chance that your stuff can be covered by insurance? It sucks short term but some $$$ will take the sting out of it.

Fortunately it can probably be repaired instead of having to buy a new one. (Because I'm NOT stupid enough to try and turn on an electronic device that is filled with water.) ;P
But still, it must be paid for. Whether or not it is the University insurance, or the contractor that told us the incomplete re-roofing would hold until after the rains, or a combo of the 2, it WILL be paid for. :/
Along with the new upright piano the roof collapsed on, the carpet in 4 practice rooms, sections of my stage floor, possibly the sound shell walls, my Clearcom Communications unit,...

Update,... went to work today to set up my OLD light board, (I need something to run lights with tomorrow, even though I do have a loaner on the way) and ran into a new problem.
The House Lights will not turn off. :(
It only happened when I turned on the 'panic' button, the light board and normal house lights controls were fine. Seems there is a short in the panic button/system. NOW they will not turn off.
Hopefully the electrician can find and fix the problem tomorrow.

It looks like a fire elemental with a golden-white light rather than the reddish-yellow that I think a regular fire elemental emits. Unfortunately, while I can climb on the bonfire and appear to burst into flames, the wood won't burn and I won't be able to maintain it very long. I don't gain any resistance to fire, either, so if you want someone to survive the bonfire, I'm not your girl.
Naw, I'm thinking short-term scare, not long term fooling by playing victim of a fire. :)
If Ed were to give you a cue, (In game and not cheating) ;P with the appropriate verbal preface,... Might scare them off. Certainly think we'd get a + to the roll for our efforts. :)
On a OOC tangent, does anyone have access to any scare spells or anything? Anything that might scare a few off instead of fighting?

What have we got for crowd control? Looks like were gonna need to pull out the stops. Grease, sleep, Color Spray, Glitter dust, anything that we can use to prevent them from fighting and NOT kill them. You know. Like were normally very good at doing. ;P
my scariest spell is this one where i hit them with a whip of fire and they die. it can scare some other folks nearby, but the dumber they are, the better their saves are versus this effect.
What if we were to start the wicker early? Hard to burn the beast if the bloody thing is in ashes.
I have access to one and possibly two color spray spells plus one additional grease spell AND Leik can cast fireworks up to 3 times per day. That could take out (read blind for 1d4+1 rounds) most of them within a HUGE 120-ft range if I remember my spells correctly...
My spells basically harm or heal. I had cause fear forever, but if rarely applied, so I traded it out.

So, if we must. (Yeah, this is me holding my breath) ;P
We light the pyre. (After all, they ASKED for it!)
Then Leik fireworks it, multiple times if required.
Then we Color Spray any particularly persistent groups,
And, if need be, personally handle any delinquents too dumb or drunk to get the message. <Derisive sniff>
Preferably without killing anyone.
I mean that's a neat trick and all Leik, but maybe we should save THAT trick for a more appreciative audience? Like the BBEG? ;)
Hopefully if we must hurt anyone, we can heal them before they die on us.

Makes me long for the guy in one PbP who made a 'pacifist mage'. No kaboom spells at all. But he was heck at crowd control. ;P
Sounds good to me. the fireworks will blind for 1d4+1 rounds, but the will save DC is only 12. that said, it is ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FOOT RADIUS. hopefully the alcohol has lowered their will saves.
and it'll extinguish a 20ft cube of the fire.

well,... depending upon how well Larissa (and the others) roll and react, I'm hoping that we get enough energy into the crowd to convince them that (most) of them really do not want to be here right now.
IE= I'm hoping it shocks them enough to let me Diplomacy them into running! :)
