As for darkspawn I suggest the following:
-Ogre: high str and con, low dex, remember they regenerate. No need for rage as an ability but give them a gore and a bite attack. Also give them this:
Ground crusher:Once every minute the Ogre can attack the floor around it as a standard action. This attack automatically hits and deals damage normally. If the Ogre manages to deal more damage than the floor’s hardness, the space it occupies and all of the squares adjacent to it become difficult terrain. Creatures in these squares, except the Ogre, must make a DC 15 Reflex save or be knocked prone.
-Shriek: medium str, high dex, low con, give them those claw attacks high stealth (maybe even of the supernatural kind), give their claws high crit chance (18-20?) and the following:
Primal fear: The Shriek unleashes a terrifying howl as a standard action. All enemies within 30 feet must make a Will save (DC 15) or be shaken for 1d4+1 rounds. If the test fails by 5 or more the enemies become panicked instead.
Ogres should also have rock-throwing like giants, although there'd have to be actual rocks around for them to use it.
What is the date, in-game? Rane keeps a journal that I'd like to write out in a post sometime.

1) Rane woke up, and looked around. Said hi to Yarask.
2) Yarask said hi, you fought well, we're in Weisshaupt.
3) Rane said thanks, name's Rane. He asked if they could trust the people who saved them.
4) Yarask introduced himself, and told Rane "probably not" in an omnious manner, and walked away.

Yarask meant they need to be on their guard. They were forced to follow their rescuers, but there is no proof these people are not just common robbers... or worse. So in his opinion (and he's pretty diffident) they need to be ready to fight if worse comes to worst.

Edit: I have a proposition, if I may. DM rolls all reactionary rolls, mainly perception, initiative, sense motive and saves, whenever he would normally call for it.
We, as the players, make sure that this information is available and accurate in our "character class" line.
This speeds things up by a whole lot. Then we wouldn't have to wait for everyone to post before we can be told what we find, and then another round of posts where we react.
In theory, it can cut the waiting in half for all of us, although it will probably be closer to 20%
