Ethyra di Angelo |

Ethyra took a deep breath trying to rid her mind of the foul stench that clung to her nostrils. Seeing the injuries that Anevia and Aravashnial sustained, she prayed quickly to Desna for healing. When she finally felt a connection with her goddess, a serene expression washed over her face. A stillness rippled through her body. Desna displayed her presence by lighting Ethyra's eyes with a cold white light reminiscent of lighting cracking across a winter sky. Ethyra cleared her throat and asked the two if they wanted healing and if so to gather around her so she could channel the healing energy of Desna.
________
After Lamar cleaned up her husband, she took in a deep breath and relished the scent of clean forest. Unfortunately she wasn't close enough to her husband to completely block out the remaining smell in the area. She looks around for a second then plasters her face into her husband's shirt. There was a long pause followed by a long deep breath. She exhales slowly and in an almost dreamy state she looks up at Lamar and says, "I know you say there is no need to thank you but," She sniffs his shirt again. "Thank you! I will be able to be close to him without tossing my cookies."
She pats her husband on the shoulder. "Sorry love, but you smell nice and I needed to air out my nostrils."

Jaeger di Angelo |

Jaeger watches from afar as Ethyra heals the two injured survivors. The glow she puts off when channeling Desna always soothing to his mind. he takes a deep breath and frowns at the putrid smell still emanating from his precious jacket.
After Lomar casts his spell ridding his clothes of their stink and fluids. "Most appreciative i was afraid i was going to have to track through these lovely caves smelling like something an orc would cook." Jaeger says with a half smile just before Ethyra uses him as an air freshener. "It's alright love I'm just glad to be of some use to you"

DM Corerue |

I will assume light or some other form of torch was lit to ensure the other group was able to see clearly. Besdies those who have darkvision of course. ;)
Seren's keen eye's catch's some interesting items in the trash heap but as she moves to investigate them she finds that those items were not the only thing in the trash heap. "By Shelyn!" Her sharp cry alerts those nearby just before several dog sized vermin burst out of the trash heap. Their carapace was tough and round on vital area's like a shield and their legs appeared sturdy, with large coxae and five claws each. The abdomen has ten segments and several cerci. Their antennae flaied before their eyes locked onto those who intruded on their nest. Without hesitation they attacked!

Lomar and Lasciel
An echoing cry is heard from both directions of the small cave your in.
"By Shelyn!" The sounds of a scuffle follow soon after, steel grinding against stone and the sounds of something crunching disgustingly akin to squeezing an insect between your fingertip's...
Climb DC20 to retrieve pack, to heavy to dislodge with a Cantrip sorry, :(. If you plan to help roll an ini! It will take three move actions to reach the room at 30 ft per move.
You have the path you came from and the path ahead that appears to wind to the left, the sound of combat comes from both directions...

"More a these goddamn bugs?" Kieran huffs. He targets the brave cockroach that decided to scuttle ferociously in his direction with a glare, grits his teeth and boldly steps forward to meet it with his spear.

"I ain't complainin!" Kieran replies, clearly impressed by the Paladin's attack.

Cedeleon "Cid" Reave |

Cid draws his wakizashi and lashes out (takes 5' step and strikes) at one of the cockroaches; albeit with much reluctance considering they're all destroying a delicious meal.

Lasciel & Lomar
Nope completely missed it~ Lol nicely done btw~ Sneaky sneaky players :D
The small earth elemental formed and moved as required by Lasciel, sliding through the earth and arriving near the bag. It ignored the yawning void above it as it worked to push the bag over the edge. It was a simple task and the pack rolled lazily over and into the awaiting arms of Lomar...
Again Nicely Done!
Now Ini if you plan to join the battle! :D]

Kieran proved faster then his opponent, his spear meets his opponent with a sickening crunch as it pierced its exoskeleton and met the gooey center. Despite the fatal blow it received the large insect continued to twitch on the end of his spear.
The other insects fared as badly, missing despite the moment of surprise that they had on the ones invading their nest...
Cid's blade crushes his opponent to the earth, spilling dinner all over the cavern floor. Despite the dirt it would still cook well enough... Most of it anyway...
Seren's grace is easily seen as she deals a fatal blow to one of the two insects that harassed her. Crushing them as it tried to bite her...
initiative for Jaeger and Ethyra if they are in the combat. If not Ini still needed if they plan on joining. It'll take a full round worth of actions to reach them.

Kieran Crane |

Kieran cranks his spear into the stuck roach's abdomen loosening it enough for him to tear the weapon out with brutal gracelessness. He takes a quick step forward and tries his luck with the next overgrown pest.
Misc: 5' step to threaten the next enemy (if I can set up a flank with Cid, put me there!); Standard: Power Attack nearest enemy

Jaeger di Angelo |

"Damn, can't leave them alone for five minutes without them getting into trouble." Jaeger says with a sardonic grin as he pulls his sword from his back. "Care to join in on the fun my love?" With her answer he dashes off towards the fight.

Ethyra di Angelo |

"Damn, can't leave them alone for five minutes without them getting into trouble." Jaeger says with a sardonic grin as he pulls his sword from his back. "Care to join in on the fun my love?" With her answer he dashes off towards the fight.
Ethyra grins back at her husband's cheeky words. "As much as I would love to, I must stay here with the hurt ones, but I trust my Jaegy- pie will take care of it." she loved teasing him even when giving him a simple compliment, she felt that it kept him on his toes. Ethyra always had confidence in him. She knew that if anyone was going to take care of something that it was going to be Jaeger. "But don't get too cocky, you still need a kiss for luck" she gives him a quick peck on the lips infusing him with a small portion of Desna's gift and shoes him towards the commotion.

Lomar Shadowan |

Catching the backpack and smiling his pleasure at his sister's cleverness, Lomar is just slipping the pack onto his back when they hear the loud shout to the Gods.
Glancing at Lasciel, they both dash off towards the sudden sounds of combat.

DM Corerue |

Battle Wrap Up~
It is clear that Mere cockroaches are no match for you! Besides let us not dilly dally any further! *CoughSlowAsSdMendCough*
With the arrival of Lomar, Jaeger and Lasciel the battle quickly turns in favor of the survivors of Kenebras. The giant insects are quickly crushed under the combined might of the band and none survivor their ill-fated ambush. When the last one fall you are all left choking in the dust that was kicked up in the quick fight. As it settles you continue your search and find~
- A torn bedroll
- Three candle stubs (each can burn for roughly 30 mins)
- A bent fishhook
- 10 feet of badly frayed hemp rope
- AND! A copper brooch depicting a bat perched on a mushroom. (Appraise check needed)
Discuss who carries what and decide who leads the group ahead before reading the spoiler below~
The two different paths merge to become one. forcing you to move single file once more through cramped cavern halls for about forty feet before the one leading the group halts at the edge of an unstable looking room. Several mounds of rock lie in heaps in this cavern (Which is roughly 10 (15 at the center) x 15 ft) and has yet another cramped cavern route winding away into darkness ahead. Aside from the bits of dust that falls from the cracks in the rock above the chamber the eyes of the group leader fall on a pale colored snake. Coiled, cranky and injured, just before it strikes!
No surprise, please roll ini~ Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
This pale colored snake is a cave viper which are particularly venomous...

Kieran Crane |

While the others compare their meager findings, Kieran thoughtfully examines the campsite for possible clues to explain who would have settled here and how long it had been since they left.
Taking 20 on Perception: 27
Taking 20 on Survival: 23
Knowledge(nature): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 (Identify the bones)
He returns to the others and puffs an unenthused breath at the found treasures. "A ripped bedroll, the ass-ends a' some candles, few feet a' shit rope, fishin' hook n' a dirtied-up hairpin..."
Looking to Lomar and Lasciel, "Where'd the other tunnel lead?"

Jaeger di Angelo |

Can't take 20 on appraise. Any retries reveal the same results as the failure.
"Exploring the rest of the caves is all well and good but don't you think we should gather the rest of our little group, eh?" Jaeger says his voice dripping sarcasm. Without waiting for a response he turns around to let his wife and the other survivors what's happening.

Kieran Crane |

Well played, Cid. Lol!
"Exploring the rest of the caves is all well and good but don't you think we should gather the rest of our little group, eh?"
"Yup. Bring em on up t'here n' the rest of us'll keep pushin' forward. At this rate, should only take a few minutes fer you t'catch up."
"I got space in my pack if any a' you think some a this junk's worth takin' with us. Besides that," Kieran thwacks the butt of his spear on the ground. "I'm good t'go."

Cedeleon "Cid" Reave |

In regards to bringing the rest of the survivors...
"If we must, though I do not see the practicality. There are wounded and I cannot guarantee their safety. I will move ahead. U'nef ragar dos jal."
Can I take 20 on Stealth?
Take 10 Stealth: 19
Cid silently disappears beyond the torchlight down the path, possessing a strange sense of relief from the familiar cavernous terrain.
Take 20 Perception: 28

Lomar Shadowan |

After the battle, Lomar takes off the backpack and opens it, allowing any who wish to discover it's contents to do so.
A Crusader's pack fell into this cavern during the battle on the surface. The pack itself is a masterwork pack that contains 10 days of trail rations, a flint and steel, a set of caltrops, two flasks of oil, a bundle of 12 arrows, a potion (Unidentified) and a second potion (Unidentified)
He takes out the bundle of 12 arrows saying "These are of no use to me, do any of you have a bow?"
and then the potions "...and then there's these. Lasciel, would you care to help me examine them properly?"
Potion 1
Detect Magic + Spellcraft: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
(or Aid Another)
Potion 2
Detect Magic + Spellcraft: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
(or Aid Another)
He watches the dark Elf sneak off into the darkness, alone, but says nothing, his only reaction a slight shake of his head. He then finally turns to the Paladin, the corner of his lip arching slightly along with his eyebrow, suggesting either disinterest or disdain, or both, as he replies "I care not who leads us, or pretends to. Know this though, I shall always do what I feel best, and what I
determine to be in the best interest of my sister, and myself. Little else matters to me."

Seren Tyddewi |

i'm pretty sure you can't take ten on stealth because it is an opposed check. Taking twenty on perception requires you to spend an absolute age carefully examining every little bit of terrain: if you take twenty examining a tunnel then we may have to worry about running out of food. :D

Seren Tyddewi |

Also, you can't crit (or critically fail) a skill check. For example, if you find a rare artefact with a spellcraft DC of 40 to understand how it works and you have a +12 to spellcraft then you can never figure out how it works unless you boost your skill with items, circumstance bonuses, etc.
Otherwise, for a campaign like RotRL, one lucky knowledge crit would reveal the whole meta-plot to the heroes at about level 2.
On the plus side, if you have to make a DC10 swim check and you have +9 in swim then you automatically make the check. You'll only risk drowning if something reduces your skill.

Lasciel |

Quickly whispering the words to an invocation that assisted in studying macical energies, Lasciel investigates the potions.
Detect Magic
Knowledge Arcana 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 2 = 15
Knowledge Arcana 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 2 = 14

Jaeger di Angelo |

You can also use perception.
Identifying Potions: In addition to the standard methods of identification, PCs can sample from each container they find to attempt to determine the nature of the liquid inside with a Perception check. The DC of this check is equal to 15 + the spell level of the potion (although this DC might be higher for rare or unusual potions).
Go go rules lawyers mighty morphing rules lawyers!

Kieran Crane |

Guess that cancels out the 20 from last time, lol!
"I care not who leads us, or pretends to. Know this though, I shall always do what I feel best, and what I determine to be in the best interest of my sister, and myself. Little else matters to me."
"Noted," Kieran grunts, "Now, we can stand here with our thumbs up our a$$^& or we can get a move on. Lead, follow; don't make no difference t'me neither. Jus wanna get outta this f*$+in' pit as soon as possible." He shifts his weight off of his spear, clearly getting impatient.
"I trust yer lookin' fer the best fer all a'us, Seren." He motions his head towards the passage Cid had started down. "After you, miss. I got your back; you jus worry 'bout what's ahead."
**EDIT** Forgot to throw a perception check for when we start exploring the next tunnel.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Jaeger di Angelo |

"I missed you
He whispers
There's the remains of a camp up ahead, not sure what happened to it but some beetles had set up shop." Jaeger says to the remaining survivors after wrapping Ethyra in his long arms and pulling her close with a kiss. "I think we'd better he a move on before we get left our dark skinned friend is impatient. Horgus do you think you can help Aravashnial by letting him hold into your shoulder?"
