History:

Ethyra was born to a prostitute named Severa in a brothel called Red Moon. Severa was known for her curvy figure, dark hair and green eye that’s color slumbered between forest green and silver. Her face was round and pale like a moon with arched brows and a beauty mark on her cheek. Her unique look helped the brothel by drawing in many customers. Soon she was raveled in the business of the brothel exchanging information and favors. But like with all favors there are always strings attached. Severa had many debts over her head and although clad in the finest silks and velvet Red Moon had to offer, had little she called her own. She had committed a horrible error one day when she leaked some information accidently to an official who was at the Red Moon spying on one of her customers. The official disguised himself as one of the Customers apprentices tricking Severa into spilling out some information. When she had realized what she had done, it was too late. Severa knew her time was short for the last thing she could pay any debt with would be her life. In the last year of Severa’s life, she became pregnant. She knew that this was bad because she could not perform her usual work in the brothel causing her to have to work in the back preparing drinks, food, and garments for her fellow brothel workers.

One night out of sheer desperation she snuck out of the brothel and she beckoned Desna at one of the Temples nearby. That was where she met Faolan Sandalio. He was a young man who had decided to dedicate himself to Desna. He was tall with long black hair kept neatly into a braid and had soft grey eyes that spoke waves of emotion to all who looked into them. He was kind to her and did not ask about her profession neither did he judge her when she divulged. He was not like any other man she had ever met. He considered her feelings, was kind and always had thoughtful words for her. The two fell in love. He fell in love with her because she was artistic, loving, passionate, and appreciated the simple things in life. The two spent as much time as they could together, relishing simple moments with one another. At last, 3 months before Ethyra was born, she went to the temple again to ask Faolan a great favor. She begged him to take her unborn child and raise it as his own. She said to him that he was the only man she wished she had ever known and that she wished to belong only to him in another life. Faolan revealed to her that he felt the same way about her. They were two people who meet at two different stages in life, traveling on two distinct paths but forever tied to together for those few months of knowing one another. In those few months the deepest love either would ever know was forged. In this life they were not meant to be. She for belonging to all and him for belonging to none. Although both promised their bodies to their calling, they gave each other their hearts instead. Faolan knew that with this promise, this meant that his beloved Severa was in some kind of trouble. He wanted to protect her from anyone who would hurt her but she would not tell him who it was out of fear that they would exact revenge on Faolan and her unborn child. All that she said was that she would leave a piece of herself with him, and that when he was finished with this life, to find her on the other side.

Three months later she knocks a last time at the temple doors. She was so beautiful wearing the finest shade of emerald and adorned with jewelry made for rose gold. Her face was painted ever so delicately as if she were naturally made of porcelain. Her eyes were pale and her colorless lips quivered. Faolan excitedly opens the door to see her only to stop dead in his tracks. There was a stab wound to her abdomen. The deep red of her blood muddies the emerald silks she wore making dark stains that signal an untimely end. Upon seeing his face she falls to the floor in relief. She clutches her stomach and tells him that it was time. With tears in his eyes he takes her to his chambers and prepares to deliver the child. Faolan feared that the child was stabbed and would be dead upon delivery. After many long and painful hours Ethyra came into the world. She was born under a blood moon at the end of summer. Severa took this as a sign and smiled at her baby girl. Severa held her for a few moments and then handed her to Faolan. Severa told him to name her Ethyra and to raise her as his own. Faolan kissed Severa one last time. It was only a few moments after his kiss that Severa’s soul and body part ways but her heart was always with him.

He named her Ethyra Severa Sandalio. She grew into the spitting image of her mother with the same green eyes. Faolan told her as much as he could about her mother and even gave her the jewelry she wore the night she passed when Ethrya came of age. He taught her how to fight, how to paint and how to sing. He taught her how to write, cook and how to perform the rituals at the temple. It was through the temple and through painting that she felt a deep connection to her mother. Never having the chance to know her, she often fancied what life would have been life had she not died. Ethyra learned the ways of Desna and felt a deep connection to her. She felt that Desna spared her life in the womb and gave her mother a chance at true love before she died. She soon starts to call Desna her “temple mother” finding comfort within the temple walls. She asks Faolan about her mother all the time, never knowing that Faolan was not her real father. Nevertheless, Ethyra found a loving father and friend In Faolan. He cherished her deeply and kept his promise to Severa. He often spoiled Ethyra as much as he could. On her 13th birthday he even gave Ethyra a pup he found in the woods. The pup was special because he was missing a leg and half his fur when they found him. The pup was very sick and looked like he would die at any moment. Ethyra made it her personal mission to heal the pup and prayed to Desna. Desna heals the pup through Ethyra and before they knew it, he was up and about like any other pup. It was half hound, half wolf. She named him Edon. Edon followed her everywhere and always kept her company. He was one of her few friends. Little did Ethyra know that she would make friends with an actual person one day.

It wasn’t until she was a little older that she finally got to meet one of Faolan’s old friend Gared and his son Jaeger. Faolan and Gared were close friends so she naturally welcomed any friend of Faolan into her life. She soon found that his son Jaeger would become not just her best friend but her husband when she became a woman. As she blossomed and grew she found herself more and more and became the woman her mother never had the privilege to become. She loved Jaeger deeply and found him to be the center of her passion. Through the years she found her family to consist of Jaeger, Faolan, Gared and her little Edon. Although she had a tragic beginning, she had a beautiful life. She was born under a blood moon and believed that because of it, she would always have a part of her mother with her. Ethyra likes to live each day like it was her last. She always had a mysterious scar on her tummy that she never asked about until she turned 19. It was then revealed to her that it was the cut that had penetrated her mother’s belly and wounded her before she was ever born. This gave her the strength and the courage to seek out her mother’s enemies and try to bring them down.
