Spoiler:
Telepathy: The binder gains the telepathy ability with a range of 100 feet (as described on page 316 of the Monster Manual) and the Mindsight feat (as described on page 126 of Lords of Madness). Benefit: A creature that has this feat can detect and pinpoint beings that are not mindless (anything with an Intelligence score of 1 or higher) within range of its telepathy. This works much like blindsense - the creature knows what square each thinking being is in but it does not see the being and the being still has total concealment unless the creature can see it by some other means. The creature also perceives several observable characteristics about each being detected with mindsight, including the being's type and Intelligence score. The creature need not take any additional or special actions to gain this information; it is as obvious to mindsight as the being's race and clothing would be to eyesight.
Normal: Telepathy offers no special ability to sense other minds. The creature has to know that a being is there to communicate with it telepathically.

Probably not. Inikai would not know if the tiger can see in total darkness and would likely hold it back until he knows what is there. Also, he cannot use telepathy to intimidate unless he knows someone is there and in what general area.

Ya, I'm pretty confused about what's going on myself. What round is it? What the init order is? Where exactly everyone is, or we are?...But, going on what I imagine the situation to be, that we're in one room, and the ogres are in another room, with a hallway full of dead ogres between us...
Despite their fury at, and eagerness to kill the Wolf Killers, Ali and Lunas know enough to not go charging down a hallway into a room full of them. Knowing as well that their foes will in all likelyhood continue coming to them, the two big wolves continue to wait, ready to leap and bite and kill the first ogres to come out of the hallway.

I'm under the impression that all the ogres we did see about 1-2 rounds ago are all dead, including the initial re-enforcements that were coming from the hallway. As a party we have positioned ourselves waiting for the next group to come down from that same hallway; based off of the sounds we have heard of more ogres coming.
That was round 5 according to the URL. Azoun's got it right. Since then, the spellcasters and summons ripped the lead group of ogres up badly and there's a second bunch advancing down the hall at us. I have no clue what the initiative count is.
It's round 6..you all go before the ogres do so initiative count doesn't really matter for you guys.Round 5 was a case of a lot of readied actions going off when you saw the first wave of ogres.

Kali, maybe it might be a better idea to do it nowish? Just in case our adventures take us out of the town for a bit? Just a thought, up to you :)
And Wellard, is there a particular reason you're not telling us what the items we found are? We can RP it if you wish by going to see the wizard but I had understood from a previous post of yours that he had already done it. Maybe I misunderstood?
EDIT: (had checked this thread first..as I normally do ;-)Ah! lol I guess I Had misunderstood! But that's the only reason I had kept asking, I thought it had already been done during the meeting with the town leaders or something like that...sorry! :|
Just looking back at our loot again as I forgot what it was. Was anyone able to appraise what the earrings and flute were worth? And then there was 440gp cash(ish). Maybe I’ll have Ali take and interest in the earings (her first jewellery! Lol) and the flute and start to learn how to play it (add a rank next level-until then you’ll have to put up with her less than skilled attempts ;-) and maybe someone could hold the rest of the cash or whatever’s her share in trust for her until she gets how to use it?

Hi, guys, I'll be joining you as the party's rogue.
Wellard, I just have Romon's stats, and skills roughed in. 25 point buy, 2nd level. Did you use the RotRL bonus feats? If so he'll be city-born of Magnimar. If not, that's fine. Gotta shop and work up his background. He was a freelance second story man in Magnimar, got in trouble with the Scarnzi there. He's hanging in Sandpoint waiting for a friend to tell him it's OK to return to the big city.
I just found my file on binders and updated Inikai. They only have 2 skill points per level. (I could have sworn it was 4!) I also updated his class abilities. Let me know if you want me to forward you a file with the class information.
Darn, I missed that in the profile. Selling her abilities for what she can maybe? She has a healing ability from her bloodline(depending on the alignment of the wounded that is).
Wellard, I just need to make sure about something. Am I supposed to write up the dream? Sorry, I'm still new to PbPing(the only other game I've been in before this is Terranova's Curse of the Crimson Throne game), and I thought we were only expected or allowed to handle our characters' actions.
I just wanted to be sure what you intended for me to do. If you want me to do it I might have to put it off one more "night" just to make it decent. I don't want to hold the others up either.
He's got pointed ears, like Spock. // AC 17, FF 14, T 15 // HP 68/73 // F,R,W 7,11,4 // Percept 14 + // Init +4
Valkyrie, you're not holding me up. My background is still sketchy (can't remember if I posted it yet) and I still have to shop for Romon. I hate shopping IRL or for PCs.
Wellard, I wanted to run something by you. I was thinking of putting Romon in the red leathers of the Mantis Assasins. It kind of assumes that while the Mantis are infamous, nobody really knows anything about them -- especially how they look.
To get out of Maginmar Romon changed his look. He's trying to pass himself off as a mercenery. The flashy clothes and long hair gone. It was easy enough to get a shortsword, but he needed protective clothing. He spotted the assasin, thought that's the ticket, and trailed him. Then stole the armour when the assasin stowed it to return to his regular identity. This might be too much so if you don't like it that's ok.
Regarding background, I've put in no names, but Romon knows a lot of middling crime figures in Magnimar, even in the Scarnzi. He grew up playing with them. Because they matured faster, they went into business sooner and have had time to advance. Anyway feel free to insert hooks through people he knows.

Hello Romon, and Welcome. Great character background btw. Just a note-I may have just missed it, but in case not and just so you know, for Rogue Talent you actually get to pick one from the list on pages 59-60 of the PF BETA pdf/book. Hope that's helpful?
And Wellard (or anyone who's interested, and this will make more sense if you're read Ali's introduction to Marak and Kali) I've been kinda playing around with it in IC but I'm thinking of really adding it as another Wild Druid class feature; that is, the ability, similar to most animals, to be able to 'sniff' out alignment. Or at least be able to tell if someone leans towards good or evil. I suppose neutral would just smell like nothing? It would/should be a limited ability, I think, only usable at close range maybe? What do you guys think?

Valkyrie..I'm loving the stuff you do..about the dream..I'd rather you did it as then you can push your character in the direction you want her to go in rather than have me railroad you in a direction you might not wantto go in.
Romon..no problem with the Mantis..I can make lots of trouble for you later with that. My idea is that Jael was your contact in Sandpoint and the guy who has been giving you a safe house.
He came back rather shaken last night, very drunk and mumbling about idiots and demons. From what you could get out of him theres some sort of treasure below the town and some people are going looking for it tomorrow..he's expected to go but he isnt a fool and knows no good will come from it.
Off course this might just be the break you have been looking for a treasure which might be enough to get the Scarzini of your back.
As for Ali sniffing out evil..ok but you have to be within 10 feet and concentrating on the target..no random smelling evil to warn you of the ogre on the other side of the door for instance

That's perfect and exactly along the line of what I had in mind but even more limited, to say maybe 5'? I see it as more for flavour mainly but it could come in handy at some point as sort of an extended Sense Motive if we meet up with any baddies pretending to be goodies I guess ;-) Here's the blurb I added to the Wild Druid Description
Smell Evil:At second level a Wild Druid has developed their animal affinity to the point that they can, like most animals 'sniff out' Evil. As a standard action and only when concentrating Wild Druids can 'smell' Evil within 5'. This ability can be used to tell if someone is of evil alignment or if particularly evil deeds occurred in a particular place and get a general idea of how long ago it happened (eg, within hours, days, recently, a while ago or very long ago.)
If that makes sense, along the same lines I was thinking of at either 5th or 7th level giving them the Scent special quality (just like animals). How does that sound to you for the class concept? I'm welcome to ALL opinions on this or anything else to do with the Wild Druid class concept btw.
SECNT:
Spoiler:
Scent (Ex)
This extraordinary special quality allows a creature to detect approaching enemies, sniff out hidden foes, and track by sense of smell. Creatures with the scent ability can identify familiar odors just as humans do familiar sights.
The creature can detect opponents within 30 feet by sense of smell. If the opponent is upwind, the range increases to 60 feet; if downwind, it drops to 15 feet. Strong scents, such as smoke or rotting garbage, can be detected at twice the ranges noted above. Overpowering scents, such as skunk musk or troglodyte stench, can be detected at triple normal range.
When a creature detects a scent, the exact location of the source is not revealed—only its presence somewhere within range. The creature can take a move action to note the direction of the scent.
Whenever the creature comes within 5 feet of the source, the creature pinpoints the source’s location.
A creature with the Track feat and the scent ability can follow tracks by smell, making a Wisdom (or Survival) check to find or follow a track. The typical DC for a fresh trail is 10 (no matter what kind of surface holds the scent). This DC increases or decreases depending on how strong the quarry’s odor is, the number of creatures, and the age of the trail. For each hour that the trail is cold, the DC increases by 2. The ability otherwise follows the rules for the Track feat. Creatures tracking by scent ignore the effects of surface conditions and poor visibility.
Water, particularly running water, ruins a trail for air-breathing creatures. Water-breathing creatures that have the scent ability, however, can use it in the water easily.
False, powerful odors can easily mask other scents. The presence of such an odor completely spoils the ability to properly detect or identify creatures, and the base Survival DC to track becomes 20 rather than 10.
Valkyrie..I'm loving the stuff you do..about the dream..I'd rather you did it as then you can push your character in the direction you want her to go in rather than have me railroad you in a direction you might not wantto go in.
Gotcha! I'll have it ready in time before it's lights out for her again.

By the way, Romon's background is terrific. If Richard Pryor had been born in Golarion he would have been Romon.

lol I hear ya. Although at least we were lucky enough to be born in the Best year! =D
Jan 5th. You?
Three weeks later, old man.
By the way, my first D&D purchase was the blue(?) box with the fighter and magic-user confronting the red dragon sitting on a pile of loot. At that age I did not question that a fighter in full plate could pull a longbow or that dragons had anything to do but sit on piles of coins all day.
This leaves us with 2 gold and 1 pp (i'm thinking we just build a party treasure list with this to fund group needed items, let me know if you feel differently)
We have two potions of CLW, I was thinking Inikai could hold onto these or perhaps one to Ali and one to Inikai. Being the fighter i'm more likely to benefit from a spell then take the time to drink a potion.
We still have the pouches of Gold Dust (total value of 300GP) and Silver dust (total value of 40 gold). Again I was thinking of just 'cashing' this in and adding it to a group treasure list, something that perhaps we could store in the cathedral in Sandpoint. We could use such funds for healing, resurrection type stuff, or a group needed magic item. Again if you disagree let me know.
Ali I will add the 6 GP and 3 PP to your list on Muchorak's profile.
I just wanted to say this has really been useful to me as far as getting caught up on the campaign. It let me know how you guys wanted binders to be viewed by society as well(that was one point I was about to ask about in the OOC thread).
Don't mention binders and I won't bring up the Black Witch of Sandpoint or the time I walked in on you and that boy, Timmy, or whatever his name is. (Kidding)
Just so you know, she might be bringing that Black Witch nonsense back if fame starts going to her head!
Embarrassing childhood moments will never lose their blackmail value though. ;)
Inikai wrote:
In most campaigns binders are persecuted, especially by clerics and religious orders, because they traffic with beings that are beyond the powers of gods. Theses beings are called vestiges because they are the remnants of beings that no longer exist in the normal sense of the word. Several vestiges came to be as a result of divine punishment or they were falled gods, demons etc... If a being cannot be affected by a god then that shows that there are limits to a god's power.
Some churches and religions might have no opinion at all about binders. This ultimately is Wellard's call for the campaign. Inikai tends to be evasive about the source of his power. Kali would know that Inikai's father was a priest of Nethys.
If/when Kallie finds out about Inikai's binding, she most likely won't freak out and rat on him. She'll probably be worried for him though, since it will definitely seem like an extremely risky proposition to her. She's used to the idea of having total control over one's power and never the other way around(losing control is actually a fear of hers).
Posted this here so I wouldn't clutter up your journal. :)
I wonder how many D&D players are or will soon be using their pension checks to buy game equipment.
"Get off my lawn, you collectible card-gamers!"
Gosh, I remember when the grizzled strategy war-gamers at Origins would look at us role-players askance.
Then I remember when the tabletop roleplayers would raise their eyebrows as the LARPers pranced past.
Then the card-games.
Then there was the digital thing, where tabletop players cast aspersions at WoW players.
Le plus change, and all that.
I intend to still be gaming via telepathic interface, long after my body has withered away and been ground up into Soylent Green, expressing curmudgeonly contempt at those punks who use AIs as DMs.
"It's a machine! You can't get good creative interaction and spontaneity from a damn calculator!" "What? What do you mean, 'What's a calculator, grandpa?'"

LMAO Bill.
Ha! Well it seems the ‘oldies’ have it here in this particular thread. Although I have the feeling we do have some younger members (although younger than Some of us can still be pretty old! (winks at Set = ) with us as well (smiles in Kallie’s general direction…and nothing meant by it my dear. Just a subtle impression and guess ;-)
But that is pretty cool that three of use are born in the Best…oops I mean the Same month. (Even if Wellard was off on the Best Year by about a decade =D heh heh
Here’s too our never ending adolescence gentlemen and lady(ies??) ,
M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3
On another note, on another game thread (that I’m Not gonna read further as I don’t wanna spoil Our game ) I came across one DM’s PbP House Rules for speeding up gameplay even more. If you’d like to take a look at them I’m spoilering them for length here. I particularly like the idea of giving us the monster stats so we can know right away if we hit or not or the monster is dead etc. I think that would speed things up considerably. Anyway though, just a suggestion, I have no complaints with the way things are currently :)
Varient Rules
Spoiler:
VARIANT RULES
Most of these variants that I’m using have been covered above, but here they are all together for ease of reference. You may wish to refresh your memory on them all before we start. If you have any problems with any of the variants, be sure to let me know so that I can try and figure out a better way to do it.
Visible Monster Defenses: At the beginning of each round of combat, I will supply (in spoilers) the AC, saves, hp, and other defenses that each monster has. You can check these to see if you hit and, if so, how much damage you deal. You can determine when a monster dies, because the hit points are visible.
My only request with this is that you try not to metagame. Some things are obvious and every character knows (fire elementals are immune to fire). Other things are more obscure (what energy types is a yugoloth resistant to, anyway?) and aren’t necessarily known to all characters. If you think your character would have the knowledge, that’s fine. If it seems like something she wouldn’t know, try to play like you didn’t know it. I know that that’s hard, so I won’t blame you for metagaming due to this. It’s just going to happen.
Static Saves and Attacks vs. Saves: For speed of play, all characters and monster have static saving throw numbers equal to their normal save modifier +10. These save numbers function just like AC, except for determining how to get the number.
When a spell or ability would allow a saving throw to be made, the user of the spell or ability instead makes an attack roll of 1d20 + the normal ability’s save DC-10. So if a spell would normally be DC 15, it is a +5 bonus on the attack roll. If the spell or ability has multiple targets, roll separately for each target. Critical hits can never be scored on these attacks made against save numbers, although a natural 20 is an automatic hit and a natural 1 is an automatic miss.
In all, I belive that this system will function the same way as the standard system, just with a change as to who is rolling the dice. This is done so that if someone, say, casts fireball they don’t have to wait for me to determine whether or not they hit.
Level Bumps: Instead of using XP, we’ll use “level bumps.” At appropriate times, I’ll let you all know when to level up. This will typically be after about 5 encounters (less than is typical in a game, so that the campaign proceeds faster). If you ever think that it’s been to long since the last level bump, please be sure to let me know.
Wish Lists: I’d like you all to create magic item “wish lists” for your characters, at 1st level and whenever you level up. These lists should be about 3-5 magic items in a reasonable price range for a character of your level to get, and can be from the Beta or its web enhancement, or the v3.5 Magic Item Compendium (most items in there are allowed, but not all). I’ll try and place at least 1 item from each character’s wish list into the adventure for that level.
Other Treasure: It’s really up to you, but I’ll be supplying enough treasure that, once any wish list items are accounted for, will put each character’s wealth at the appropriate amount for the level. For example, if Skazz gets a 600 gp magic item for 1st level, he should then get about 400 gp in other items by the time that he reaches level 2, so that he has the assumed 1,000 gp. This division is really up to you guys however, it’s just my goal.
