Muchorak "Windstriker" |
The Ranger holds up his hand, for silence, and the halflings remarks then takes a moment to take in the surroundings after the combat...
Perception 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (16) + 16 = 32 +6 vs Giants= 38
Esteriande d'Litran |
Esteriande presses her hand to her injury again, then uses her wand:
Wand of CLW (3 charges): 3d8 + 3 ⇒ (5, 4, 7) + 3 = 19
...takes her to 74...
Wand of CLW (2 charges): 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (1, 1) + 2 = 4
...then discards the exhausted wand.
Romon |
"Why'd you do that? I bet it's still good."
Romon stoops to retreive the wand.
He waves it around her wildly while mimicing phrases used by Marak during healing. Then he starts on himself.
UMD: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14 .. HP healed: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 failed
UMD: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23 .. HP healed: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
UMD: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27 .. HP healed: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
So 9 more HP for Randi.
With her fully healed he starts on himself.
UMD: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32 .. HP healed: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
UMD: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23 .. HP healed: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
UMD: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15 .. HP healed: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 failed
UMD: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27 .. HP healed: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
UMD: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15 .. HP healed: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 failed
UMD: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27 .. HP healed: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
UMD: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21 .. HP healed: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Gets R back to 62.
UMD: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22 .. HP healed: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
UMD: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28 .. HP healed: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
68 is good enough for me.
Then he turns to the rest of the party. "Anyone else need doctor Romon's healthful healing?"
When everyone's satisfied Romon returns the wand to Esteriande.
Alisebett |
Despite Romon's near ceaseless levity, for Ali and Lunas, killing Wolfkillers is perhaps the most serious matter of all.
Lunas, having been enhanced considerably by his Den Sister's magical connection with the Land, gains immense satisfaction from being able to attack the Wolfkillers now as an equal in size and strength. If only his other Den Siblings could see him now...
Yet still, at present he shows no outward sign of pleasure whatsoever, as both he and DireAliWolf pad forward to the edge of the cave, growling low in their throats and lending their senses to Big Bear's to determine what prey may lie before them.
Ali Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28 + Scent
Lunas Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 + Scent
Inikai |
Perception
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Romon could learn something from Penn & Teller.
Inikai waits for the others to tell what the markings are, or if the entrance is trapped.
Perception 2
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Tsk tsk tsk
Esteriande d'Litran |
Perception #1: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
Perception #2: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16
Distracted, Esteriande shrugs and pockets the wand, thinking she must have confused the two she has. Taking out her other wand she uses a charge for a last touch of healing.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
"Time to advance...but let's be careful."
DM Wellard |
Esteriande didn't need those wand uses on herself as Romon had already brought her to full Hp
Just beyond the bones an enormous statue stands in frozen vigil—a forty-foot-tall giant with black skin covered by fissures and cracks, like the bed of a dried river. He wears majestic armor, gilded and encrusted with gems, and grips a towering glaive in his armored fists. The giant’s face is hidden by a ferocious full helm forged into the sneering grimace of a fanged devil. Around the giant’s neck hangs a medallion—a seven-pointed star.
Many ogres use this entrance and they seem to use it constantly. The wolves pick up a couple of scents that are not Ogres but cannot tell what they are having never encountered them before.
DM Wellard |
The amulet is indeed Magical a larger version of the ones you have already encountered.. No Evil can be detected.
Naria.
Muchorak identifies the Giant as a Rune Giant one of the rarest of all Giant Kind..indeed thought to be almost Extinct
Inikai |
"Is that a statue or is it a giant that has been encased in ice?"
If it is the latter, Inikai thinks that they should just kill it while it is helpless. However, he knows that Esteriende and possibly Muchorak and Ali would oppose this idea.
Romon |
Esteriande didn't need those wand uses on herself as Romon had already brought her to full Hp
... majestic armor, gilded and encrusted with gems . ....
Thanks for reminding Dabbler about Romon's selfless sacrifice, Wellard. He'd have to go pout in the corner if Randi really dissed him that way.
Romon's eyes light up. Finally an ogre or giant whose worth something! While he waits for the party casters to declaim on the origin, purpose, and most importantly magic of the statue, he does a quick count of the gems and tries to estimate the armor's value without approaching it.
Appraise 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Percpetion (Traps) 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31
Khaladon |
Growling softly again, DireAliWolf and Lunas sniff all around the statue, sensing everything from it they can. When finished, Lunas lifts his leg and makes his opinion of it clearly known in a bright stream which splashes around it's base.
Taking 20 on perception.
Marak Quan |
"So much larger than I had imagined, and yet not so brutish as the ogres we have met." Marak says, fascinated by the new creature, and yet, given the nature of the things encountered thus far, somewhat comforted by it being so obviously dead...
Inikai |
"Himself maybe? A form of ritual suicide perhaps?" seemingly fasinated despite the morbid topic.
Oy Vey! If humans and halflings could have children and Naria and Marak were to do so... Inikai stops himself from continuing down this line of thinking.
Romon |
"I'll take the lead with Muchorak." Romon slides along the righthand wall clutching his shield and mace.
Fast stealth to get a small (20') lead on nature boy 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25
Perception for what's ahead 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (19) + 14 = 33
Muchorak "Windstriker" |
Seeing Romon move along side him, then disappear into the shadows the ranger begins his move in to the cave...
Perception 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31 +2 for Favored Terrain= 33 (+6 for Favored Enemy= 39)
Romon |
Romon skirts the edge of the pit carefully, but can't resist a quick peek into its depths. Then, hearing noise ahead, he slows and waits for the Shoanti ranger. He can tell from Muchorak's expression that the ranger has heard the noise too.
Wellard, how dark is "dark and looming"?
Muchorak "Windstriker" |
Affirming his grip on his blades, "Please do." The ranger closes his eyes, waiting for the burst of light against his eyelids before opening them his muscles tensed ready to strike while their foe may be caught off guard.
Romon |
Romon briefly considers whether the light will draw more ogres than the ones just out of sight. That would just mean we'll kill them all sooner. I guess it's a good thing.
But he also remembers the ogres at the cave's mouth and how they were of a higher caliber than the ones they'd met earlier.
"Naria, could you make me invisible too? Then I could get behind them more easily, and maybe stop them from raising an alarm."
Greedy theif. Whatever the answer Romon's cool with the plan to charge these guys when Naria lights them up.
Marak Quan |
Sensing that something is going to happen imminently, Marak softly incants another plea to the Master of Magic.
