God, Ali is adorable. I hope you're ready for the girliest sidequest ever, Khal. ;)

And I really like Romon's idea.

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

Haha Glad you're liking it Val!

It is a bit of a stretch for me sometimes writing her, but she speaks to me very clearly so mostly it just flows and is All Her ;-)

And bring on the party!

...oh Wait! OH NO! I just had a Terrifying thought! What if Ali gets Drunk!!
: O

Kalie and Ali are too funny. But it's not just laughs, there's some real truth under it all.

And Romon would be happy to go shopping with them. He's probably feeling the need for a change of clothes.

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

Glad you're enjoying them Thom : )

Val, looks like everyone is heading over to the Inn for dinner. Did you want to IC the bath/change scene or just make a short post and head on over ourselves? And I guess shopping will come after?

Yeah, we should probably do short posts so we can catch up with everyone. I'll follow your lead; have to know how well you took the bath. ;)

I thought we might go shopping the next day, since I'm not sure how much daylight we have left today. I also have spending money coming my way tonight if that's still the plan.(the whole dream thing)

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

Well, since it's your house, why don't you start the scenario and I'll add in Ali's bits...ah, ummm, figuratively of course

Gotcha!

I had to come up with the layout of the house on the fly, so if it's absolutely ridiculous for the setting, someone let me know! :)

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Wellard, are you OK out there? Haven't seen you 'round the boards.

He's still here(there's a post in one of the tribute threads to Dave Arneson). I think he's just waiting for us to get together again.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

He plays in one of my other games and he hadn't posted there either. I was just getting a little worried. Glad to hear he's still around.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Yay, Wellard. Glad you're back.

In the spoiler below is Romon's first letter back to his friend and mentor in Magnimar, Cearnis. As Romon is under a bit of a cloud with some powerful people back there, he's writing in a loose improvised code.

Spoiler:
Karnith,

I hope this finds you in good health and not inconvenienced by any loose ends I may have left when I departed town.

I have arrived in the rustic village you recommended. The air is wonderfully clear and seems to be quite healthy. I visited our mutual friend JayK, whom you recommended to me, before I left. He was doing well, but had to leave town quite suddenly on family business. However before he left he put me in touch with some of his friends here who have kept me quite entertained.

They are a circle of spellcasters and a savage Shoanti warrior. I think one of the casters is a werewolf. They are all quite lethal. We went on a little hunting excursion today and bagged several monsters, like men with beetle's jaws, very violent, very angry, very stupid. I was able to get behind one of them and gut it. Anyway we bagged six or seven of those, an extremely large goblin that seemed to have a smaller goblin growing out of it's head, two hands of zombies, and a small very annoying demon.

The Shoanti often fights with two blades and is breath-takingly quick with them. The casters have an amazing variety of spells and powers. I think they may be the answer to my troubles in town.

Please write and give me all the news and any advice you may have.

Your devoted friend ,

Norman

God, do I feel guilty or what?

But he'll feel better than most of the party-goers in the morning, right?

You better feel guilty. Actually thanks, it was fun to write. Usually bad things get done to my characters by evil DMs or treacherous players. To get to hurt him myself was a new experience.

Also fun, because Romon is kind of stretching me. Never had a character who wanted to party like that, heedless of the next morning. Usually my characters are fairly strict and somewhat paranoid. This kid still feels invincible.

Yeah, sorry about that. Kallie's scared of her mom.

Wow, how about that chain reaction? I really didn't expect things to go that way, Set! ;)

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

I thought that was a great scene all! Definitely a nice departure from the usual hack n' slash D&D stuff. Fun = )

Said it before and I'll say it again, this is a Good Crew : )

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Agreed. This is a good crew.

I like Marak's emergent paranoia too. Inikai and Muchorak taking the quiet responsible nurturing roles. It's all good.

Oh, that was just hilarious.

Marak's a big city boy, and he's stuck here in folksy rural Sandpoint with the banjo music from Deliverance going through his head, wondering if the stories about 'quaint little fishing villages' and 'Innsmouth looks' have any truth to them.

Loving it. :)

And he's still working under the (horribly wrong) assumptions that Inikai is a Cleric, Muchorak is a Barbarian and Roman is some sort of male prostitute... Silly, silly man.

Finding out that Inikai gains his powers from obeisances to things that aren't gods? Oh yeah. That will go over well.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Guys, we have passed 1000 posts in the game thread. Congratulations all around.

Don't hold up the game waiting for Romon. If someone comes to get him great. If not,I'll get him to the meeting a little late when I post tonight.

I'm holding off on being too specific with how Kallie's behaving for the moment until I know for certain what happened the previous night. She's going to be excitable at the very least. ;)

I'll be leaving for a two week vacation Saturday morning, and won't have access to the internet at all. Hate to leave y'all in a lurch, but if we are between action segments, hopefully it won't be too much of a trouble for Wellard to handle him as an NPC until I return!

Good gaming all!

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

Have fun Set!

Set WTF? How can you choose vacation over us? Selfish $%&%^&

In all seriousness, have a great time.

Dark Archive

Some dude

Leaving in an hour for the big vacation, thanks for the kind words!

Unless circumstances require otherwise, Marak's big goal is to explain to the town elders how he intends to go back into the underground area and retrieve the bones of the victims of the magical experimentation / torture. He'd want to bundle them up in sacks (perhaps old grain sacks, it's not like they need to be shrouded in silk, it's more the thought that counts), just so that nobody outside of the party sees their deformities and possibly comes to the completely reasonable conclusion that they are monsters, and not people who have been terribly transformed!

A burial somewhere outside of town, preferably in a field somewhere, some garlic water to discourage scavenging dogs and whatnot from digging them up, a prayer to locally-popular gods like Desna to guide them away from this place, and that task should be done.

The whole vital 'destroy the Runewell' thing? That's kind of secondary, to Marak. He's all kinds of personally offended by how those people died, and were left just lying there!

Secondary interests include;

Researching Gnomes. Meeting Ali has driven it painfully home that he knows bupkiss about them, and he feels kind of protective of her.

Checking out the lighthouse for signs of Thassilonian runes and whatever. Because of what he saw below Sandpoint, his 'life's ambition' to learn about Thassilonian magics has been significantly dampened. He suddenly wishes he didn't know as much as he already did...

Ack! I should have checked the OOC thread before posting. I accidentally covered some of your bases, Set!

Have a good vacation! We promise not to let Sandpoint burn down before you get back!

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Does someone feel inspired to be the voice of Marak while Set's away?

Marak: "Just let Inikai hold all my money; I am not concerned with worldly matters."

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

LMAO that sounded pretty inspired

That sounds in-character to me!

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Nice, Bill. I should have thought of that.

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

I'm liking Romon more and more Thom, you're playing him perfectly

How about Marak gives it to us both?

Khaladon wrote:

Thanks, Khaladon, but again this group is dynamite. Even the strong silent types have well-drawn personalities.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

I've got a confession. Usually I'm pretty good about not reading spoilers, but I've got to admit that when Inikai is binding, I read them. And sometimes when I do, I wonder, when he gets to high levels and is dealing with really powerful entities -- I wonder --

Spoiler:
if he'll lose the last vestiges of his humanity.

Spoiler:
Sorry. Really I am, I couldn't help it. But I do really enjoy the bindings.

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

Ya, and like we were going to be able to Not read your spoilers or be able to resist reading Inikai's spoilers from now on after all that.

Way to go instigator!

You better say Seven Hail Mary's and...ah...all the other stuff

(um...and does it make me less of a man if I now feel I need my teddy after considering Inikai's possible future bindings?)

I can't wait until one of the other characters actually catches him in the act. I'm looking forward to those reactions!

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Sorry, I didn't even think about my last post as instigation. I was just looking for the weak pun.

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

And I was just looking for a Fall Guy =D

(but no honestly I hadn't read them before...hmm, ok, well maybe One, I think, but if so it was a long time ago...but I Am REALLY tempted Now! Especially cuz I know how well he writes )

...and the pun did bring a smile, so mission accomplished ;-)

Sovereign Court

I'm tempted just to gloss over the tidying up in the tunnels...you can use blood to draw one sinspawn at a time from the pool and individually they should be no challenge to the 6 of you..but it will drive home to the observers just what the threat was.

Recovering the corpses will be easy enough to it shoudnt be hard to get a large wheel barrow down into the tunnels which would speed the job up...and father Zanthus is a kindly soul who would insist on the bones being laid to rest in the town graveyard with the proper ceremonies...so that much you can leave to him and his acolytes..plus that puts them on consecrated ground...quite important as Marak would know from experience.

That would let us begin moving towards Thistletop..and it will probably take us a week to do that so we shouldn't have any combat prior to Set returning from his hols.

in addition I've gone with the suggestions in the thread about uprating the AP for 6 players so here are the details on equipment you can buy in Sandpoint

Weekly Bazaar
• Merchants from Magnimar come every Fireday there is one magic item dealer with a few odds and ends and potions and scrolls

o Any 1st level scroll 75% / Any 2nd level scroll 50% / Any 3rd level scroll 10%

o Any potion 50%

o Misc Magic items( 1 only of each unless noted otherwise)
Wand of Bulls Str 10 Charges 850 gp
Wand of Enlarge Person 25 Charges 350 gp
Wand of Acid Arrow 15 Charges 1300 gp
Silversheen x2 225 gp
Gray Bag or Tricks 850 gp
+1 Cold Iron Great Sword 2500 gp
Bag of Holding Type I 2250 gp
Efficient Quiver 1500 gp
Healing Belt(1d3) 700 gp

So at least you have something to spend your shinies on

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

Shinees. Yeah! lol

Unless anyone was keen on playing it out (which I'm happy to do as well) in the interest of speeding things up I was going to post that we just say that someone (likely Kallie) gave Ali a proper education in the fine art of shopping and the value of gold.

On the other had though, despite the great discounts Wellard has offered us, there isn't really anything there I can think of that Ali would really need. (Although I am sure Ali would be fascinated by a bag of holding and probably fill it up with all manner of useless but interesting to her items, she can't yet afford it ). And, as she can't read, druid scrolls would be of no use to her. So, unless anyone can think of a good reason not too, as long as he still doesn't mind, I think I shall leave Ali's funds in the security of Bank of Big Bear. (And if you needed something you didn't have the funds for at the moment Muchorak Ali would have no problems with you borrowing from her and replacing it later)

Wellard

Spoiler:
As an aside to that Wellard, I was thinking of adding Literacy as a bonus feat for Wild Druids at some point. If you agree with that idea, what level do you think might be appropriate for it?

I'll have to peruse those scrolls. :)

I'll definitely be looking for some remedy from our local medicine maker/alchemist/potion vendor? for Ali(and Romon too I guess ;) ) if their heads are still throbbing after the meeting.

Liberty's Edge

Sorry to interject here, just wanted to say:

1) My understanding of the percentages was that was the chance they had the item, not a discounted price on them. I could be wrong, that was just my reading.

2) The dream sequence with Kallie (and her reaction to it) were phenomenal.

3) I love reading this game. All of the characters are so unique and have very strong personalities - it inspires me to be a better role-player. Keep up the good work.

Excuse the interruption, I'm buggin' out now...

Why, I feel perfectly violated! Any moment now I expect to be hauled before the House Unamerican Activities Committee. Er, the House Unmagnimarian Activities Committee. Or something.

Thanks for the kudos on my writing, I really appreciate it!

And this really is a great group.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

If we don't have to mop up in the cave below sandpoint that's more than fine with me. Stomping spawn individually would be no great shakes. And Romon would be thrilled to not cart dead bodies up to the churchyard.

I really was looking forward to shopping with the girls and seeing the town, but that can be done after Thistletop.

If we are going after a goblin stronghold, how are we set for healing? A nice wand or two of cure lights would be good. I'm willing to part with the cash, but someone will have to talk Romon into it.

We might still have time to shop, maybe! I don't see wands of healing on the list, but those healing belts might be handy.(I don't have the book with me at the moment, so I'm not sure exactly what they do)

Remembering Nualia kind of throws some complications in for Kallie though. Has anyone actually spoken with Tsuto since taking him prisoner?

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Now that sounds like a pleasant day, a little light shopping followed by an interrogation and night at the theater.

We have to make our own fun in Sandpoint. :p

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

The Healing Belts are great, they offer: +2 to Heal skill, 3/day heal 2d8hp

Ali would find them neato and would be happy to give all her money to have one if needed (I know it's not but She doesn't) , but she doesn't know anything about them...

Wow, that makes the belts quite a bargain. If not Romon's cup of tea right now. Nothing else seems to fit either. I seem to remember an adventure outfitter in town. What's he got in stock?
