Ahoy mates! A big welcome to the lot of ya!
Congrats on getting selected! I hope we all have a lot of fun playing this adventure, which has gotten several 5 star reviews. It is mainly investigation and there are some funny/odd situations you will be thrown in during the course of it.
For now, we should get everyone's character builds completed. Most are already, but may need some tweaking. Also, I failed to mention before that I am allowing PCs two traits. It would be cool if a few would use the Freeport campaign traits, available online for free (link here).
Also, if any of you would like to tweak your background a little, you may do that also. For those of you unfamiliar with Freeport, here is a description of one of the roughest parts of town, Scurvytown:
If the stories told in far-flung ports about Freeport were true, visitors would be gutted like fish the moment they strode down the gangplank of an arriving ship. While newcomers quickly learn Freeport is far more than a collection of bloodthirsty pirates, one place fits the city’s image like a glove: Scurvytown. This district is officially named the Freebooter’s Quarter in documents, but no one off the boat less than a week uses that name. The decrepit condition, lawless population, and grinding poverty of the place earned it the nickname Scurvytown decades ago, and the name stuck.
Drac’s End is a poor district, but at least the people there try to better themselves. Scurvytown is for those who’ve given up or have no other place to go. It’s a squalid hellhole with appalling living conditions, and those marooned here suffer the worst Freeport has to offer. In the rainy season, water runs down the hill from the Old City and the Eastern District, turning Scurvytown’s unpaved streets into muddy swamps where mosquitoes breed. In the dry season, the heat dries and cracks the muddy streets, and dust rises in choking clouds when carts and wagons go by. The stench from the fishery and the other aromatic industries in Scurvytown rises to unholy levels.
Only those with a taste for crime, violence, or perversion (or with little regard for their own personal safety) voluntarily make their home in Scurvytown. Crime is higher here than anywhere else in Freeport, especially violent crime. Most days begin with a couple of corpses found face down in the gutter or bobbing in the waters of the harbor. Unless the victim is rich or influential, little effort is made to find the perpetrator. Other forms of crime—theft, mugging, smuggling, drug dealing, and cult activity—are just as common. In the warren called the Beggar’s Market, lowlifes from around Freeport come to buy less-than-legal items and substances. Criminals on the run use the flophouses and decaying buildings of the district as hideouts, and the neighborhood called The Pit hosts a variety of the least savory thugs in the city (not to mention occasional supernatural menaces).
For decades, Scurvytown was home to the few orcs, hobgoblins, and other savage races that dwelt in Freeport. This changed in the wake of the Great Green Fire, when the council established the new district now known as Bloodsalt to house the hobgoblin and orc workers of the Reclamation Project. Many orcs vacated Scurvytown for Bloodsalt, lured by the prospect of work and the company of their own kind. This exodus drained much of Scurvytown’s labor force and economy, leaving the remaining inhabitants resentful. Some of that resentment turned into active persecution of nonhumans, and the few orcs remaining in Scurvytown were driven off by racist violence. The modern incarnation of Scurvytown is dominated by humans who have a weird kind of pride in their district; it’s not much, but they need to believe it’s better than Bloodsalt and need to believe they are better than the nonhuman newcomers to the city.

Ahoy DM Sinvel!
Thanks so much for the selection! I'll do a little tweaking this afternoon. Probably just gear and tweaking my background to finish working in my Freeport trait. Do you want us to plan for starting in Scurvytown or was that mostly for flavor?
"Suny" |

Again, thank you very much for having me in. =)
Aye! And now I seem to run out of free time! *shakes head*
As for tweaking the back ground....? Um, some pointers perhaps? (^_^)
Shall definitely try and re-work the character with books information. *Bows*
Also, which season have the characters come into this....lovely part of town? The "Rain turning streets to mud" season? Or the "Air so thick, you could carve it" dry season? (^_~)
Starting shiny-s:
8d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 2, 2) = 16X10=160.
Awe...poot! Low numbers agin!
Much cheers to every one!

DM Sinvel |

Roidrage, please let me know when your character is ready. I understand about moving, my weekend was pretty chaotic as well.
Suny, you have 2 ranks in your Perception skill. Only one allowed at first level.
I'll get the main thread up here in a bit and give everyone an overview of the city that would be fairly common knowledge having been in the city even just for a day or two.

Deevor wrote:IoW=Isle of Wight? If so, very nice!Just back from IoW festival...will catch up as quick as I can..
Yep...The Foo Fighters were EPIC with a capital AWESOME...!!!!
1st day back at work and now I'm closing my eyes...
One thing any chance of a slightly better bunch of numbers, the rolls are about the most abysmal you can get, I worked out as a 4 point character...so let me know if I can get a slight improvement?
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 2) + 6 = 9
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 = 8
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 = 8

Deevor |

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 2) + 6 = 9
more really rubbish rolls....the average should total 78, I've managed 70 after re-rolling 2 to take it from...63...when the minimum is 48..oh well...she'll just have to try as she can.
After everyone else managed to do so well getting good ability scores, its up to me to bring it all down.

Yep, I think it was meant to be. In this particular adventure there is no reason to do a power build. I did the heroic rolls just to make up for the organic nature of rolling instead of point buy. If you're a little low in some abilities then it will just make the role playing aspect more important and probably more interesting!

Karsielle |

Ok with the gold...so will do something on that...
As for where she comes from, Karsielle would live in the temple of Calistra, which would also serve as a brothel and place of entertainment. The brothel would have several shrines, each used by different types of customer...Karsielle works in the shrine servicing the needs of the men and women, captains and others with status and information.
If this is in the temple district, she will live there.

It is rumored that Bloody Flagg stalks around Bloodsalt and lays to rest on a bed of corpses.

Sorry about the AWOL action guys, I've been buried under class stuff lately. I'm not likely to recover until the end of next week. Take any action you see fit.
Silas, I thought you were long gone. I started working on someone to take your place. Email me at

Thanks for having me, and cheers to the group. Let me know when you decide how you want to work me in. Until then, stats:
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 6 = 11
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 6) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 6) + 6 = 14
I've built a shell assuming straight 10s and will update with the above actuals.

Festival over...did I mention I had 1 day away to go to an Iron Maiden gig..no well, that was a real high spot.
The festival went off without incident and a lot of hard work in the box office. Managed to see Toyah from the pit, and a quick word with her afterward, very nice lady. Met some very nice traders and eat some good tasty food. Managed a BBQ and beers with friends that lasted til 4am one night. So all in all, saw some good music and had a great time...will be back there next year too.
Hope Gencon was a fun time too!

Just wanted to drop a note saying that I am enjoying running this little adventure. Its quirky and odd, and IMO a good change up from the pure dungeon and battle fests that we all normally partake. I also like the group of your characters. I've been a little crabby to a few of you and I'd like to apologize if I've been gruff to any of you. I'm having lots of fun and I hope you all also.
The adventure is about to step up in action. The first part we've just finished was modified and probably only 10%-20% from the written adventure. I thought I could find ways to make it more interesting so I did a bunch of tweaking and added a lot of NPCs. Funny thing is, the shemale landlord is actually written in as such. This module has its share of crazy stuff coming your way!

Mishael |

DM Sinvel - have been thoroughly enjoying things. Its a great adventure so far and you're doing a great job leading us through it. We've got some interesting roleplay ahead of us if this is any indication.
Deevor - not sure if you already know it, but I'm your "Sorin Szekely" applicant for the CC game you're in. You guys seem to be taking your time deciding who to add, but I'm definitely still interested.

Karsielle |

I've really enjoyed playing this, it's a blast... I really like the group, Bf is fun, love the girls interaction... and its really nice not hitting everything ... love the shemale .. the bit with the smelly feet, I gotta feel sorry for Silas ... :)
@Mishael, I'm not sure what's happening, its very slow in CC at the moment. We had a discussion on the characters, its down to 2, yours which got my vote, even though I didn't know it was you and a cleric of Sarenrae. I'm sure you've found out I'm Tre the eleven necromancer, if you've popped over and seen the game thread.

Yes, I wound up reading up on the thread when I worked on the application. I think you're one of only two that have stuck with it the whole way. It does seem to be a pretty slow game right now (and just when it should be heating up).

Hey Karsielle, Mathpro wants your paladin in the crypt of the everflame game. Press here!

Deevor |

Mishael...do you want to bring Sorin over to the OOC for the Carrion Crown game, our DM has agreed that we get you over....with luck we can raise the game to new heights....
