Vuloo |

Vuloo looks on as Relan destroys the construct. "Well done sir. Now we must destroy the other three. You will have to move closer to the room to gain line of sight. Hopefully they can be destroyed at range. Aidon, can you not summon additional earth elementals to assist?"

DMFflash |

The party advances slowly shooting as soon as the constructs come into line of sight and even into the room and gets no response. You eventually chip.them down to nothing.
END COMBAT! Each carries a masterwork.guisarme
Doing some really rough statistical analysis, it will take you all about 16 rounds to take them all down with 3 of you firing. So take off 16 pieces of ammo each. If you're out, someone else take.up the slack, 1 for 1.

Vuloo |

Vuloo cautiously returns to inspect the shaft. He listens for any echoes coming up. If he hears nothing, he casts light on a small piece of rubble and lets it float down.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Relan* |

Relan has 50 cold iron arrows and 20 blunt arrows so 16 is no problem for him. And half of the misses would be recoverable, right?

Levelle Mahe |

Well that was certainly one way to take care of the issue. I wonder how the last group handled it?

Vuloo |

Vuloo shrugs, "The other group may have followed a different path. Perhaps we should to. This shaft may be a dead end."
He then casts detect magic on the shaft.
"Or there could be some sort of magical effect obfuscating the true nature of the pit."
He also casts light on the tip of Andel's quarterstaff and reaches it into the pit to see if the light is extinguished.

DMFflash |

Vuloo detects three auras of faint strength radiating from the pit.
You may may make Knowledge Arcana rolls to determine the school of each if you wish
The light goes out when it enters the pit and Vuloo is barely able to perceive the end of the quarterstaff even given your own radiating light (I made a small assumption that you have light of some sort)
The light returns when you pull it out.

Marking off 16 arrows unless someone says they need me to mark off more.
Shouldering his bow Relan goes and retrieves his pole arm. After he lowers a rope with grappling hook into the pit to try to judge the depth. Is it some kind of darkness spell? he asks the oracle.

DMFflash |

Relan lowers his grappling hook and rope into the whole and near immediately as the hook enters the darkness, he loses the feel of the weight of the hook and his lowering creates slack. After a moment or 2 the slack slowly straightens. As he continues to feed the rope out, it progresses this way, weightless and creating slack first that slowly pulls down in to the depth. He gets to the end of his rope and doesn't notice any change.
The warrior is left holding the end of a rope that feels like it weighs as much as a piece of paper.

Vuloo |

Vuloo nods, "Yes, I believe there is a darkness spell, as well as other spells. This shaft must lead to the Lady's Light. Why else would these columns be guarding it? We're going to have to make the descent. Who wants to go first?"

Relan* |

Relan pulls the weight up with a curious expression, almost expecting the rope to be wet. There is more at work here than darkness my friend. he says.

Relan* |

Interesting. Relan notes. Its almost like the part of the rope and grapple within the pit is not with us any more. Like its maybe in some other place... He ponders a bit more before concluding I cannot recommend we enter this pit. Let us exhaust all other options first.
Could this pit also be considered a "well"?

Vuloo |

Vuloo points to the intact hook and rope, "What are you afraid of? No harm came to the rope and hook. The weightlessness of the rope could indicate a levitation effect. I'm willing to wager if one were to jump into the darkness they would float down."
Vuloo takes the rope and securely ties it around his waste and then hands the other end to Relan.
"Lower me down."

Levelle Mahe |

Levelle grabs the other end of the rope with Relan to add a modicum of extra support. Hopefully there isn't a spell of silence down there too. When the ravenous creatures down there start to chew on you I hope we will be able to tell. Levelle offers a slow wink the halfling to indicate her jest. Sobering a moment later the elf nods to Vuloo, Nothing brave. Pull hard and let out a yell if you need out.

Relan* |

Relan seems to be holding his breath. He indicates that they should give Vuloo more time to explore with crude hand gestures. You get the idea that Relan is timing Vuloo's descent with his breath holding in case there is nothing for Vuloo to breath.

DM Fflash |

Was waiting for Vuloo to respond to my last post ... I will make an assumption and press on
The rope tightens and you come to a slow stop about 5 feet above the ground. Your rock with the light spell on it lays directly below your feet.
The ceiling of this grand hall is made of polished gray marble. It rises to a height of twenty-five feet, supported by ornate columns whose central eight-foot-sections have been carved to resemble a beautiful woman. A ten-foot-square platform sits in a wide alcove on the north wall, atop which lies a white marble sarcophagus with a painted lid. The sound of gently running water echoes along the hall from the west.
The room seems to extend to the east and west beyond your light.
Not updating the map yet, since everyone could see it then. If you're dying to see the room on a map, I can send via email.

Vuloo |

Knowing the danger of venturing into the room by himself, Vuloo will tug hard on the rope and will wait to be pulled back up.

Relan* |

Relan was feeling confident about Vuloo's excursion until he feels the tug on the rope. His expression changes to one of worry and he quickly pulls up the rope and he hopes the oracle with it.

Vuloo |

Vuloo can hardly contain his excitement, "The well empties into some sort of ornate tomb! There's statues of beautiful women and a sarcophagus. My friends, we may have stumbled upon the tomb of Sorshen!"
Vuloo returns to the shaft edge and motions for the others to join him. "As I suspected, the shaft contains some sort of levitation field. We can simply float down. We will need to secure the rope with a piton so that we have a way back up. Are you ready?"

Levelle Mahe |

Levelle offers a soft nod of agreement. Looking at Taalay the hunter muses for a moment before gesturing for the bird to sit on her shoulder and asking it to stay.
I dunno that might take a HA check? If it makes sne I will just take 10 (for a result of 20) which should be enough to convince the bird to follow me down?

Relan* |

Quite happy to see the little oracle Relan helps him out of the well and clasps him on the back. Well done. he says as he begins to secure the rope to the side of the well. I'll go down first. he says and starts down, using the rope to guide his descent. Once down he will anchor the rope at the bottom too just in case it wants to float back up.

DM Fflash |

Levelle, I'm generally good with take 10 animal handling success as assumed for most things to include just hanging with you. It's only when you want her to do something odd or out of character that you'll need to actually roll <e.g. swim/fight/fetch>
Securing the rope and heading down, with the others following into the darkened, silenced pit that allows you to feather fall down, each of you experiences the eeriness of popping out at the bottom.
You each eventually emerge from the darkness with a sudden burst of light and the soft sound of running water that starts abruptly.
The rope stops just a few feet above the ground. Vuloo's rock with the light spell on it lays directly below the rope.

Vuloo |

Vuloo carefully studies the floor of the room leading up to the sarcophagus before proceeding, "Be weary of traps my friends. This tomb will not be unguarded."
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
If the area looks safe, he will walk up and study the platform, and then the sarcophagus.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

DM Fflash |

Vuloo cautiously approached the sarcophagus, searching the entire way. Finding nothing of concern he arrives at the massive marble construction and examines the outside. The painted image is the same woman depicted on the columns: a beautiful darkhaired, lithe woman sleeping with arms crossed over her chest.

I wonder if those statues might animate and attack like the ones above. Perhaps I should fire an arrow at one? But as he says this he notes that other party members have already advanced.
Is there a map update?
