Agreed. These parts of the adventure fell rather flat with my home group who met rather infrequently and didn't buy in as much as Miri did. The haunts really frustrated them more than anything as they tried to sweep the manor room by room. The buy in by Miri and the excellent descriptions (and I agree, the medium itself) did wonders. It was great to see this come to life like it did.
This is as far as I've run for this adventure. So while I know the rest of Skinsaw in broad strokes I have much less of an idea of the challenges ahead.

Aww shucks, thanks Twigs; this module to this point had a very Gothic horror feel to it, so I thought I'd play it as such. PbP allows you certain literary license that perhaps the table top does always provide, and a well run game is provides many opportunities.
I wasn't expecting the gothic horror portion, but I was pleasantly surprised... I'm really curious about the rest of the AP, since I haven't read or played through any of it (keep the element of surprise up!)
Well done by the way Doc Evil; this is by and far one of the best PbP's I've ever had the pleasure to play.

btw thanks to all of you who are in the front most of the time. Outside of a haunt that targeted Selena, I am feeling pretty safe all things considering. Just have to keep you guys from getting targeted by so much and having horrible dice rolls at the wrong time. I might have to go into the business of making some cloaks of protection for the group.

Happy 2nd! It's rare that a PbP game gets this far, with so many original members still in attendance no less, Selena being the only later addition (though a welcome one!) after an earlier departure from Aziza.

I am good either way. If we stay the night then we need to find a room that has no haunts and is defensible as well. Who wants to take which watch if we are staying? I need 8 hrs uninterrupted sleep so would prefer to take the first or last watch.

ray of enfeeblement.
Normally is 25gp so half to scribe and trait bonus for further 5 percent off:
25-12.5-1.25=11.25.
Does that sound right to you or does the 5% apply after the scribe cost so only .63 deducted for a total of 11.88?

I am with thunder on this. Let's go back to Sandpoint, clear up loose en there and give a final report. While there we can heal up, possibly finish clearing out the goblin lair, return the horses since they aren't ours and get a ride to Magnimar then.
I understand moving on to the next set piece but not if it means rushing past other things that we still have on our to do list.

We're one day's ride away, and can likely send a message with any of the travelers passing by (a sealed message or word of mouth, whatever you deem prudent, Tunder). I think the stakes are a bit higher than a few suspicious townsfolk, and Hemlock is the only one who know's Mirela's connection to the murders, and when we we return we'll have plenty of substantial evidence. I'd rather move on to the next setpiece, I'm wary of slowing the pace down too much as we've a whole lot more adventure to get through. Just my two cents on the matter.
It's the whole town, actually, word of the murder can't be kept quiet long. Once the word is out, Hemlock can't keep Miri's "involvement" quiet. We also, might be able to get some help for our next stop. I mean we're just some country bumpkins going to the big city to cause trouble for a noble.

Selena Magnimar wrote:Ok, with me. I will make the changes in the loot log and add the scroll to your gear.As it seems we are resting got the day Selena will prepare knock in her third level slot and then scribe it into a scroll.
3*2*25=150150*.5*.95=71.25 gp spent on scribing the scroll.
I think I asked earlier but does the loot log have the amount of scribing inks I purchased at character creation. I show I have 350+ still in inks. I have been taking it out of my profile whenever I am scribing a scroll.

I'd venture that the ring of protection is worth hanging onto. Seldon could put it to use, although Selena has far and away the lowest AC among us.
Barek Hisdren |
Barek can take the Ring of Protection. I think that would put him and Tunder at the same AC. One of the things I've been considering is whether to go heavy armor with him. It's one of the differences between brawler fighter archetype) and Brawler (hybrid class). The idea of him in full plate punch people is both odd and oddly cool.
Selena should appraise the artwork we have. Sell everything else, I guess. The Stalker's Mask is just creepy. Barek is saving up for an Amulet of Mighty Fists.

Selena Appraise, noble outfit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Selena Apprasie, cameo: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
She has no idea how to value the clothes taken from Foxglove, but the cameo locket she determines is worth about 50gp.
The sale value of the items on the list, plus the two from Selena above comes to 6938. Adding an additional 10% for Selena's trait makes 7631.8 gp, split 5 ways that makes 1526.36 per player.
I have added to Cash Tracker, and to your character sheets. Feel free to shop a bit if you feel the need.
Selena Magnimar |
I looks like it takes an hour per spell that you wish to add to a spellbook. The cost is (spell level)^2 x 10gp. It also requires a spellcraft check equal to 15+spell level. If the spell is a transmutation spell there is a +2 to the check.
Burning hands: 10gp, spellcraft of 16 (bring on those swarms now)
floating disk: 10gp, spellcraft of 16
blindness/deafness: 40gp, spellcraft of 17
rope trick: 40gp, spellcraft of 17 with +2 bonus
fireball: 90gp spellcraft of 18 (bring on those swarms now)
Selena Magnimar |
Any other recommendations for spells at this time? I have about 1000gp left to spend but thinking of waiting for a bigger purchase or to craft an item or two. Also if you want Selena to craft something for you just RP it and I won't have a problem with it. Cloak of resistance is only 500gp and 1 day of work! We take a boat to Magnimar I could have 2 done by the time we get there.
Seldon Swiftheel |
Flame Arrow could do wonders for Tunder and I if you can justify scribing a few scrolls of it, and fly is a wonderful safety net. I'd be happy to chip in for a scroll of the former.
Also a cloak of resistance would be an awesome investment for a lot of us. I'm down for claiming one of those. I was struggling on what to spend my coin on anyway, and it's a staple for a reason. :)
Barek Hisdren |
Seldon is probably right. As much as Barek wants to save up for AoMF, he's still less than 50% there, and a Cloak of Resistance might keep him alive long enough to get to bigger loot.
I'm in for a cloak!

Alright so that is 2 requests for cloaks whenever we get a few days of downtime. I am definitely thinking to take a ship then to Magnimar unless we are going back to Foxglove's Manor to investigate more.
As for the flame arrows spell...It is a nice spell but I am worried about its application. If we know and have time to buff then it will work as it has a 50min duration. That gives us ample time to cast and use them. I am worried about those sudden encounters as all 50 arrows have to be together, then each of you grab some. By then we could be in melee range and provoking AOO's for shooting. Again I am not opposed to the idea I just think right now that haste and dispel magic are better options. The only reason I even went after fireball is if we run into more swarms. We don't really have anyone that can take out swarms.
Twigs |
50/min buffs are generally cast before entering a dungeon, and last for the entire thing. In that scenario you just wouldn't cast it.
This is why I'm so in love with magic circle against evil and the heroism spell, although none of my party members in my PFS games ever remember its effects. I agree that Haste is enormously better for the spell slot, but being able to access/scribe cheap scrolls of Flame Arrow for when we can pre-buff would be spectacular for when we can pre-buff. (Or we could purchase a few scrolls out of our own pockets.)
Seldon will probably scribe some scrolls on the journey to Magnimar. Probably mostly restorative magic, but if anybody has any other requests let me know.
