Congrats, Miri! We'll hold down the fort for ya!
Regarding level 6, Barek faces a choice. I had originally envisioned him to go Paladin around this time. The idea was to eventually be smiting evil with his fists, hence the LG alignment and investment in CHA in his stats. Seeing as we're starting to deal with some undead and possibly occult forces, it could be a good idea. He'd gets access to Paladin spells/items and get a nice bump on his saves.
On the other hand, I never expected I would have as much fun with him as a pure fighter/brawler. And while level 5 in fighter is a bit of a dead level for him, the next few are pretty good. He'll eventually be able to really control the area around him, which will only get better with the occasional enlarge person from Selena. And with more feats, he would just get more punishing and deadly.
So I'm a bit torn. Thoughts?

Smite is kind of an all-or-nothing investment I feel. Your Brawler bonus damage is going to outscale what smite ever could reach when five levels behind, and against more than a single target a day. Lay on Hands is probably the best defensive ability in the game (swift action healing!), but I'd question the value of a single d6 of healing at this level.
Divine Grace on the other hand might push Barek's saves from "good" to "veritable fortress", so that's something to consider. But I'd stick with Fighter and grab Iron Will or something. You'll have the +2 from protection/magic circle against evil most of te time anyway if I'm doing my job right. Most of the good Paladin spells can be purchased in potion form anyway, and me and Selena will be doing our best to keep you buffed. After so much investment I reckon you'll get more out of the fighter levels.
Of course, Barek's more than pulling his weight already, so theres no great pressure for optimal performance.

Didn't know about the newborn, congratulations!
Thanks everyone! Yeah, my second actually... it's easier this time around, though having two now and still working full-time has eaten up my PbP time in a hurry; that said, the summer break starts in a week, so I'll be back to something approaching normal shortly.

I'll be tied up with a play from the 18th-22nd and posting may begin to slow down leading up to that/during.
I'm also starting up a solo game for a friend who's interested in the game. Does anyone have any prior experience with such things, particularly appropriate encounter levels for a 1st level solo PC and what parts of the rules I should be showcasing? If anybody wants to weigh in with their two-cents that would be spectacular.

I'm on vacation for the next week. Please play Barek without me!

I didn't indicate it very clearly, but my second shot on round one was also a bane arrow and I rolled the damage as such. My bad for rushing my post.
If we don't want to retcon, can we treat one of this round's attacks as an evil-outsider bane arrow?
Apologies for being a lazy twit.

I'll add the damage on, don't sweat it.

Nor did I! Great work!
A bit of a quiet level for Seldon. Rounding out the knowledges he has access to and some nice new spell slots and the nice little boost to divine favor.
Looking forward to seeing our buffed up full BAB frontliners turn some cultists into mincemeat in the weeks to come.

A very boring level for Barek. I've decided to keep him on the Fighter path for now.

Oh the months I've had... listen, I don't know if you replaced me, and I would completely understand if you had, but if you'll have me back, I'd love to pickup with Mirela again.
She was after all the first character I really had on this forum, and probably one of the best, so it would be fitting.
Mirela Malvo |
Looks like you got back just in time to level up Mirela. I reviewed all the other level ups and everyone looks good to go.
Sweet ride; outlined below are skills and stats, still trying to figure out what to do with her level 6 Rogue Talent. My initial thought was to pickup Spring Attack, but in hindsight, I'm not sure how useful that feat tree... though I like the idea of jumping around the battle field with a high degree of mobility.

The question is do I magic missile as it is force damage or magic weapon one of your weapons? I don't think I can enhance Barek's fists which means I will have to choose either Miri or Tunder. Thinking Tunder as he goes first before the shadows currently.
Selena Magnimar |
From what you mentioned in the gameplay thread that sounds correct. However the only change is that Selena would only need to spend 900*.95=855gp on the hat since she gets a discount of 5% for her trait. Over all then it would be 880gp.
spellcraft roll to scribe spell in spellbook 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
Are there any other items you wish to discuss about crafting in general? For what it is worth this item is more for RP flavor than anything as Selena does not want to be identified in Magnimar upon her return there. I would rather have waited to get a headband of int but sadly that must wait.
Selena Magnimar |
I am fine moving forward as Selena will be closeting herself working on her hat while on the ship.
For future reference I will post the cost of the materials needed with the trait deduction for each item crafted. Also I don't know how you want to do this but I would like Selena to have an amount of raw magical materials on hand just in case she has the ability to craft something but no store to purchase them from. Such as if the ship got veered off course and took a total of 6 days then she could craft items still the other 4 days.
Seldon Swiftheel |
Seldon will craft two potions of bull's strength over the journey. (300gp)
Selena Magnimar |
Not that we are the most blood testy party but I think given the situation everyone is too on edge to believe that Iesha and Aldern are real. I mean we supposedly just watched Iesha and Aldern fight and kill each other. and after what miri went through no way is she getting touched by one of them without answers first.
Barek Hisdren |
You absolutely did. I still don't know what the heck is going on. Illusion? Time Travel? No magic though...
It's just that the last time we saw Aldern, he was a bloodthirsty, undead killer. No matter how inviting he is, we weren't just going to sit down for dinner with him, especially Miri.
Twigs |
The tension in this scene was top notch. We probably could've learned more about the situation by playing along, but I feel like it played out the way it did not because we're angry murderhobos, but because the stakes were too high. Which is a real credit to Mirela and yourself.
