Thorn, Omen bringer |

Merry Christmas, New Years, and happy holidays!!! I know its late.
Sorry for the absence; work, life, and family have been keeping me ultra busy. Getting back into my normal schedule now.

Thorn, Omen bringer |

Thank you! As you can tell my schedule has opened up time but is still very busy.

Thorn, Omen bringer |

I had the stomach flu and finally have recovered for the most part. It was a bad bout of trying to get sleep and getting to the bathroom in time. Sorry I didn't have the mind to let you all know.

DM DoctorEvil |

Congratulations! Not are we closing in on 3000 gameplay posts, but you have achieved level 5, the highest progression of PC's I have personally seen in PbP.
Remember for HP, you can take the PFS style (1+average) or roll, re-rolling a 1, but subtracing 1 from the new result.
Please list all your changes (spells, feats, abilities etc) so I can make sure we match up for future game play.

Yeah, it's rare for a PbP game to get this far... I've only ever had two get beyond level 4; this game, and a Way of the Wicked game that recently came to an end after hitting level 9 if you can believe it.
Anyway, I'm having great fun with this game, so let's keep it up! Here is Mirela's level 5

Seldon Swiftheel |

Thanks, Doc! It wouldn't be possible without the huge commitment, and consistant, quality posting you've put out over its year and a half span. I'm enormously grateful for the chance to play this far.
3d6 channel energy
4 skill points
Feat: Precise Shot (hooray!)
I just reverse engineered my point-buy and realised I didn't actually add it last level, so +1 wis.
A single third level spell slot and a domain slot.
(SMIII and magic circle against evil)

Mirela Malvo |

Looks as though we all received some pretty rockin' HP rolls :)
Seldon, how could you forget your stat boost! On a side note, if you have some spare cure spells available Seldon, Mirela could use it after taking a punishing hit from Selena... you just had to roll maximum damage didn't you Selena lol
By the way, nice way of writing up how Selena would suddenly know new spells; I always struggled with level ups during adventures as a DM, and how to make them seem plausible in a game setting without seeming cheesy or too video-game like.
On a side note, speaking of video games and our recent level up, I think this is appropriate:

Selena Magnimar |

thanks Miri.I agree that mid adventure level ups are hard to figure out sometimes. Luckily I can resort back to the college days and use that. I prefer myself as GM to wait till a down time like the end of the day for level ups. In this case though I am glad we got to level up now as we have pretty much the entire house to explore still and the caves probably.

Selena Magnimar |

Just noticed this so,thought I would give you a heads up DM DoctorEvil. Selena took improved Init last level so her Init is +6. Once she rests it will be +7 as she will move her transmutation stat bonus to dex as well.

Selena Magnimar |

I don't know why but I got this feeling that all of the rooms that we haven't explored yet are filled with gold and we are going to miss them somehow. anyone else have that feeling since we haven't seen anything valuable yet.

Twigs |

Haha, I think that's memories of the lower levels of Thistletop coming back to haunt us. :P
That said, the attic rooms are likely just filled with junk (Paizo arent afraid of empty rooms and, hell, it's an attic) and I'd wager we'd find a lot more haunts than we do loot. While great from a storytelling standpoint I'm running low on resources to combat them.
Besides. I want to see what happens when this Revenant finds her mark.
Edit: Just wanted to say how much Tunder's reaction to the last haunt cracked me up.

Mirela Malvo |

Likewise, I found it both amusing and the perfect reaction for a cranky dwarf like Tunder... also, it adds some levity to an otherwise dark chapter in our journey.

Thorn, Omen bringer |

Sorry for being away myself. I was dealing with depression which was getting in the way of me being on here. Turning my life around for the better, searching for jobs, and making steps to improve myself. Please forgive me.

DM DoctorEvil |

Thorn, glad you are feeling better, but another long unexplained absence is problematic. It's not the first time, but it is the longest...
I understand more than most people about depression and its effects on behavior, but you have to live up to your responsibilities even when you feel like you can't function. I am glad you are feeling better, but it doesn't undo your missing time.
I will ask the group to PM their opinion about taking you back. Frankly, I vote against it right now. I want people who will at least give a heads up for an extended absence, which, even in deep depression, could've been done in 5 seconds. But I am willing to hear the voice of the other players, since they share the table.
Please do not post in Gameplay again, until this has been decided.
Players - I would like your honest feedback via PM. I will not share individual results so be as open as you can. I would like to hear from everyone, even if you abstain from a decision.

Thorn, Omen bringer |

It is alright, I will bow out. It was just that this was one of my only games as a player. Good luck to you all, and only the best for each of you. Thanks Doc for giving me a chance, it has been fun while it lasted.

Mirela Malvo |

Do you guys think Mirela should engage here... I just get the sinking suspicion that Aldern would so out of his way to put her in the dead book, in some weirdo attempt to make her some kinda bride of Frakenstein kinda thing.

Barek Hisdren |

You might egg it on. See what happens if the Relevant is told about how he's been pursuing you, flirting with you, asking you to join him. Maybe say that you never realized he was married before.

Selena Magnimar |

I don't think Miri is the sort that would be 'engaged' to Foxglove unless she has been hiding her true intentions this entire time.
Perhaps move up and ready an action to attack or ready an action to move back drawing Foxglove with her. Never really see anyone ready a move action much but this might make sense tactically if he gets free. Otherwise just move up and start sneak attacking him till he is put down for good. Then we can worry about the Revenant.

That's a good idea actually, though it might cause her to turn on me... it's a gamble, but keeping these two at each others throat seems to be working.

Mirela Malvo |

My apologies for the delay, it was the Easter weekend so I had trouble getting time to post with all the family stuff going on.
Anyway, it appears Mirela's action is pretty much what I'd have done anyway XD

Selena Magnimar |

So this may be a stupid question but do we 'feel' anything once Aldern is gone. I mean it is a haunted house that we just ran threw. Does it still 'feel' wrong or haunted or do we think it is safe to go back through the house. Do you need a sense motive or knowledge check or something like that?

Barek Hisdren |

I don't have any knowledge this far. Most of the tidbits I've heard of were in the first book.
Honestly, I think this adventure has creepier and more horrific than anything in Carrion Crown I've seen (I'm into the beginning of book 3). Maybe the part in CC book 2 with the children is in par. I think the difference is (putting aside the excellent RP Miri and the GM have put forward) that the creepy things in CC are happening around the PCs, rather than directly about them. No one in CC is sneaking in and getting bits of your hair at night and making rotten meat portraits of you.
