CHARACTER
Concept: Soft-spoken stargazer older than Sandpoint itself.
Background: Once a ranger of Crying Leaf, it had been countless years since Seldon has worn a sword. His time as a ranger in the Mierani Forest had many lessons for the young elf, but chief among them was this: some things should stay buried. When the green dragon Razorhorn attacked his home village some four decades ago, the pain was too much for the elf to bear. Taking solace in his goddess and the peace of the road, he bade farewell to his loved ones and days of light laughter and sweet wine for a life on the road as a travelling healer.
Seldon has traveled over much of Avistan by starlight, wandering on foot through the verdant woodlands and wilds of Varisia, taking the voyage down the River Tourondel to Lake Encarthan and Kyonin thrice, and journeying through the southern human kingdoms and the Five Kings Mountains, Seldon is very much an elf of the world. The melancholy and homesickness that so often plague his kin seem to have no hold on Seldon. He's confident his goddess will lead him back down the road to familiar places and fond friends when the time is right.
Seldon is rarely seen without a content smile in his face, taking joy in what he sees as all of life's simple pleasures: warm meals, a drink from a fresh mountain spring, the sweet ache of a long day travelling. His grief is decades behind him, and the elf is full of mirth and high spirits. However, in the face of evil, or people in need, or enemies of his goddess, he is grim and uncompromising, stopping at nothing to put an end to the threat. He has long since hung up his armour and sword for a peaceful life on the road. The stars tell stories of their own as they dance through the night sky, but Seldon is beginning to sense that the day may come when the elf must take up steel again.
The elf travels to the Swallowtail Festival to celebrate under the eyes of his goddess, marveling at the magnificent new cathedral towering over the young town. He bears no arms and wears no armour, merely wearing the garb of a traveller. He's been in town for naught but a few days, but is already offering all the aid he can to the temple, and telling tales of his travels for free room and board at the Rusty Dragon.
