Day Job: Slight of Hand: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Also, Kali will be purchasing Land Rush Hex D2.

The PFS rules sheet for this module suggests the following:
Level 1: The Tower Ruins 1–2
Level 2: The Cellars 1–3
Level 3: Splinterden 2–4
Level 4: Godhome 3–5*
Level 5: The Drowned Level 3–5*
Level 6: The Clockwork Maze 4–6
Level 7: Shrine of the Awakener 5–7
Level 8: The Circle of Vissk-Thar 6–8
Level 9: The Spire Axis 7–9
Level 10: The Magma Vault 8–10*
Level 11: The Tomb of Yarrix 8–10*
Level 12: The Automaton Forge 9–11*
Level 13: The Pleasure Gardens 9–11*
Level 14: The Throne of Azlant 10–12*
Level 15: Order and Chaos 10–12*
Level 16: The Emerald Root 11–13Where the * levels are slow track. That way everyone is in the right level range for each level of the dungeon and stays within tier for the future chronicle sheets.
Just wanted to repost this to remind everyone that we'll probably have to slow-track the next two levels to stay in tier. Levels 10-15 will be a rough patch with very little leveling, sheesh. At least by those levels we've got more power to play with. Slow tracking below level 5 will feel rough enough, I'm sure.

Will have chronicle sheets up later today; I got them all together, then realized I'd forgotten to put the hex buys on them. You get 3711 GP out of this level, if you want to start leveling up (or finish lebeling up, as the case may be).

![]() |

I'm leveled except for purchases. What should a witch like me spend 4500 gp on? After the next level I'll buy a +2 Int headband, not sure what I should buy now.
If we're going slow track on the next level, I guess I should only plan to spend about 2500 now, in order to be sure I've got enough for my headband.

DM Carbide |

Asvald, are you going to buy another hex?

DM Carbide |

I'm assuming you mean C2, Asvald--+1 to Day Job checks.

DM Carbide |

Read them over and let me know if I made any errors.

As a result of reporting this and From Shore to Sea (which I just finished running on the boards), I just got my first GM's star. Everyone's gotta start somewhere, right?

![]() |

Congrats, Carbide! I would have thought you had way more than one star, you're quite good at this.
I just ran my first live table of PFS, completely impromptu and unprepared, when our regular GM couldn't make it. And of course, two new folks show up out of nowhere. And I think we all had fun! I know I did, which was a pleasant surprise.
(Chronicle looks fine, btw.)

![]() |

Leveled up and ready to go. I'll be Slow Tracking her through the next two scenarios as per PFS's suggestion.

![]() |

Ok, Melody is all leveled! I finally picked up a handy haversack for her giant scroll library and continued to expand said library.
Note that her initiative went up to +2!

DM Carbide |

Once everyone's leveled, I'll get going on the next piece of the Spire.

Kragnor is leveled, just need to make purchases.

Having fun is the point of all of this, so it's good that your live game worked out well.
And thanks for the kind words. I obviously haven't been running PFS games that long, but I've been running other PbP/PbEM games since before 3.x--there's a fair bit of overlap in the toolset regardless of whether you're running Villains & Vigilantes or PF.

DM Carbide |

You could go back up a level and beg from the Society folks there.

A question about my Exchange Faction Card:
Based on what happened, would the GM agree that she satisfied the following condition: 'Resolve a combat encounter nonviolently through diplomacy, trickery, bribery, or a similar tactic.'
Also, Day Job - Slight of Hand: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Kali will also spend two pp to buy Hex B6.
Are you still going to run a scenario for us Carbide to keep us on track with leveling? Should we not have gone slow track?

![]() |

Perform: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
We should have a moment of silence for Asvald's lost pot.
Who will make the pineapple upside down cake?!

DM Carbide |

Yes, I agree that that qualifies as a nonviolent resolution. Sticking with slow track is fine in this case, but I'll need to run two regular scenarios to catch you up to where you should be. We can discuss that later.
Which brings me to another point. I'm going to be going on vacation for a week or two starting this Friday, and I'm not sure how much time I'm going to have to keep things moving while I'm gone. How about if we figure out which scenarios are options for all of you during the break, and then when I get back I'll run them?

![]() |

I'm a bit confused why we need to find scenarios to play. Weren't we going to slow track anyway? We could skip slow tracking a level.

DM Carbide |

If you don't slow track, you'll get 1 xp from this level. Since AIUI you can only declare slow vs. normal track at exactly the level break, if I didn't run a pair of supplements you'd be out of sync for the rest of the Spire.

Why couldn't we just not slow track on one of the levels that they suggest slow-tracking, like next level for instance? Would that have the same effect?
Finding scenarios we can all play will be nearly impossible. There are very few games I can play.

![]() |

Perform (sing): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Melody will be buying hex E (Country Estate!).

I'm a bit confused why we need to find scenarios to play. Weren't we going to slow track anyway? We could skip slow tracking a level.
Asvald is right. It still works out without inserting any extra scenarios. Here's how it works:
We are at 9 XP now, 10 XP (level 4.1) with the upcoming chronicle if we don't slow-track. We are still in tier for level 5 "The Drowned Level".
It is suggested that we slow-track "The Drowned Level" but if we instead treat it like a normal level to make up for our shortcomings in "Godhome", we'll end with 13 XP (level 5.1). This leaves us in tier for "The Clockwork Maze", after which we will be level 6.1 for "Shrine of the Awakener", etc. So we'll still be in-tier for the rest of the module, just with that extra 1 XP which really isn't a big deal (just a bit annoying).
Level 5: The Drowned Level 3–5
Level 6: The Clockwork Maze 4–6
Level 7: Shrine of the Awakener 5–7
Level 8: The Circle of Vissk-Thar 6–8

DM Carbide |

True. You won't actually be out of tier until Level 11, and that's well down the road.

![]() |

And by then, the slow track rules may have changed.

![]() |

If we need to add a scenario or two later on, it will be easier to do at higher levels as we should have more options that everyone can play.

DM Carbide |

Sounds good to me!
This level is kind of problematic for a more good-aligned party, in that there's no obvious motive for fighting the trogs besides taking their stuff. They're basically harmless where they are, and they're not hostile. (Now, if the Godbox was filling the meat vat with people that it was teleporting from Fort Inevitable, that would be another matter entirely, but the way it's described it has built-in prohibitions against directly attacking sentient creatures.)

DM Carbide |

Well, yes--you're waiting on me to get my thumb out and send out the chronicle sheets. This should happen Real Soon Now.
