Gang - leveling up gets me to 3rd level spells. At this point, I get to pick two, and here's what I'm considering: Dispel Magic, Heroism, Ice Spears, Lightning Bolt, Loathsome Veil, Pain Strike, Screech, Stinking Cloud, Suggestion, Tongues.
Any favorites on that list that I should take, or others I've missed? I've got lots of debuffs on our foes already, and can buff my friends a little, so I'm looking more at being able to do buff more or do damage to baddies.
I'm also considering Accursed Hex as my feat, so I get 2 tries on putting Misfortune on opponents, but I'd love suggestions there too, since this is my first witch character.

DM Carbide |

I will once again be on the road tomorrow and most of Saturday. The chronicle sheets are ready but for the customizing, so as soon as I have a few uninterrupted minutes I can knock them out.

![]() |

Dispel magic and lightning bolt get my votes for spells.
Accursed hex is a good feat. Is Split Hex available yet?

![]() |

Do Accursed Hex for 5th level then.
You should consider spirit talker when we get to 7th level.

![]() |

What's exciting about it is that you get to pick a shaman hex from any spirit. The sky's the limit!

![]() |

Oh, I see. I'd never really looked at the shaman, didn't know the distinction between the hexes from the individual spirits and their more general hexes (which seem the same as the witch hexes).
That is cool, I'll have to pick out some good spirits. (Sounds like I'm planning an evening of sophisticated drinking...)

DM Carbide |

Chronicle sheets have been sent.
The family stuff is settling down, and I hope to have some more time to devote to this. Let me know when you've updated your characters for the level and we can get going again.

![]() |

Glad to hear it Carbide.
Asvald's all lebeled and his profile's up to date.

![]() |

Yeah, good news that things are settling down. Senja is leveled up, will update his profile later today.
Do we need wands of anything, or other items we should pick up before we set forth again? I picked up scrolls of Remove Blindness/Deafness and Remove Disease, might be worth getting Remove Paralysis as well. How are we set for healing wands?

![]() |

I'm not sure who's tracking the other wands but Asvald's CLW wand is at 39/50 charges remaining.

![]() |

Just did a quick review, looks like the wand of infernal healing is at 35/50 charges, so we should be good there. And I forgot that Eva was the bearer of our wand of Mage Armor, we're fine on that one also.

DM Carbide |

Got the session reported as well.

![]() |

I'll probably need to the end of the week to update Kali. I'll let you know when I'm done.

DM Carbide |

Incidentally, Feral, I'd sign up for your Overflow Archive game, but 1) I don't have any Dark Archives characters in the right level range and 2) I have my hands full trying to keep up with the games I'm running.

DM Carbide |

You talked me into it, you smooth-tongued devil. What's the character that's already committed?

DM Carbide |

Posted in the Recruitment thread. When were you thinking of starting?

![]() |

So my roommate pointed out an interesting part of inspire rage.
If a raging song affects allies, when the skald begins a raging song and at the start of each ally's turn in which they can hear the raging song, the skald's allies must decide whether to accept or refuse its effects. This is not an action. Unconscious allies automatically accept the song. If accepted, the raging song's effects last for that ally's turn or until the song ends, whichever comes first.
So that means Kragnor wouldn't have went super negative and die after he went down. Is it too late to retcon that Carbide?

DM Carbide |

That's interesting. At first I thought that the line starting "If accepted..." meant that it'd only last for one round, but then I figured that in context it meant that if the song stopped before the end of the character's turn they'd lose the benefits.
I just went back over the fight, and if Kragnor kept the song benefit he'd be four rounds from death--plenty of time to get him healed. I'm good with the retcon, and will get the revised chronicle sheets out in a few days. This is yet another travel-filled weekend. I'm hoping this will be the last one for a bit--fortunately, Wayfinder still works on my phone, so I can keep up with Feral's game.

It occurs to me that Tektite was running two Emerald Spire games. His second table is in about the same spot.
Any thoughts on who you wanted to extend the invitation to?

DM Carbide |

Not sure. Soro, unfortunately, fills the main combatant role in the team. It's an odd party mix. Maybe Joey? RyckyRych is a decent and reliable player.

DM Carbide |

None of the others are primary melee; Aillig is the closest thing to a line combatant, and he's multiclassed gunslinger. As I said, odd mix. I'm hoping Tek turns up soon enough to make this academic, though. Gotta be tough on him, not having the time for all of his games. I'm having a hard enough time with my job, familial duties, and a much smaller number of campaigns.

![]() |

I see two Emerald Spire games on Tek's campaigns tab - the one you just stepped in to finish the level of, and this one. And this one is under "Inactive Games" - uh oh!
So what's the other game we would be grabbing someone from?

![]() |

DM Carbide |

I know the one I'm playing in is PFS; I don't know if that's the case for the other.

![]() |

Ah, it was tucked down in Inactive Games as well, and I missed it. Glad it wasn't in huge font right in the middle, or I would have really mystified myself.
It looks like they're level 5 and have already started the clockwork maze level, but with the new flexibility in when you go slow track, we should be able to even out soonish. There's an elf fighter who might be a good fit, as well as a Dungeon Rover ranger who would fit in quite well in Kragnor's role as a Dungeon Rover ranger. There's a human fighter, but he's an archer, and it seems we need more of a melee presence.
Hmm, looking more closely, the elf hasn't posted since July, so the ranger may make the most sense.

![]() |

A replacement Dungeon Rover would be good. This dungeon hasn't been super archer-friendly but an archer wouldn't be bad either. We don't have any consistent long-range damage.

DM Carbide |

Looks like Tangaroa is stepping in to GM the other Emerald Spire game. Sadly, his character is a low-STR bard.

![]() |

A second bard wouldn't hurt and it'd probably be nice to reward Jake for biting the bullet. Normal bards stack quite well with skalds.
If you think we're really hurting for melee Asvald can focus on mixing it up more and Eva can stop slacking. What am I saying, Eva never stops slacking.

DM Carbide |

That's true, and the character is also some more magical support for you.

![]() |

Hi guys - Feral, Oladon, Khelreddin, hello again. Harker and Carbide, nice to meet you.
Well, I do have to admit I'm not a perfect complement for your group - but you do have some strong players. And clever.
I'd be willing to join you if you'd have me. This is the profile for Nuria as she is right now. We were so close to finishing this level too :)

![]() |

Howdy!
Assuming Nuria's not one of those silly archetypes that gives up inspire courage, you've got my vote. =P

![]() |

No, she did give up countersong though, which is always a bit painful. But I have something good in mind that is a pretty nice alternative to inspire courage, too. It just requires a bit more cash to pull off :) I'll save the surprise though; wouldn't want to spoil the fun.
Since I am restarting the level, I guess I'll buy a whip so I have something useful to do with my silly weapon finesse feat. Not exactly my most optimized character :)

![]() |

A fine solution! Welcome to the party, Jake! You buff, I'll debuff, everything will go swimmingly! (Perhaps not the best choice of adverbs after the last level, but you get the idea.)

DM Carbide |

Understandable; I still get a little twitchy about poor visibility and rough terrain.
