Questions:
How much did we wind up getting for the good quality pewter drinking stein, silver ring, jade nude-elf plaque, and scroll tube?
I'm assuming no one had issues with selling all of that?
Didnt Katya some kind of side quest going on with some NPC about finding a certain number of berries or something like that that caused us to fall all over ourselves in a thorn bush? What happened with that?

Havrin Stahl |

For what it's worth, I'm considering taking a level or two as an Inquisitor (of Erastil, of course) - just seems to kind of fit with where Havrin is going. That'll give us a bit more healing capability, but still no substitute for a main healer. And I agree with Jacyn and Count Buggula - more than once in my experience an emergency burst of healing has saved the party from a TPK.

DM Carbide |

Just a heads-up--I'll be off at a con this coming weekend, then will be on vacation from 5/31 to 6/10 or so. My new phone is much better for posting from, so I won't be completely out of touch.
Count, Svetlana wanted moon radishes for soup, and you got those via Adam's keen trading skills when you found a trio of kobolds set up in the moon radish patch. Right now I think the only quests you have outstanding are for Kesten Garess' former colleague and the big pig.
Havrin, that sounds like a cool idea, and with two other full-BAB characters in the party, losing a point of BAB won't be a great hardship for you.

DM Carbide |

Oladon's a no-go for replacement healer. If any of you know someone who might be interested, let me know; otherwise, I'll put up a recruitment post (or beg some of the other people I do PbP with on the boards).

DM Carbide |

I've got a bite on a replacement--a lame oracle of time. No personality or backstory yet, though.

DM Carbide |

Cool. The oracle is coming together, so we should be able to restart sometime next week.

DM Carbide |

I'm back on the ground at home, with only a couple of hours of jet lag to take care of. Update coming in the next day or so.

DM Carbide |

Today is my first day back at work after almost two weeks away, and it also happens to be my division's safety day. Since I'm the safety coordinator for the division, I won't have a lot of time to spare. So my posting may be kind of sparse. At best.

DM Carbide |

Let me know when you want to move on; I didn't want to interrupt the interplay, but it's slowed down a lot.

Jacyn Frestarn |

I hate to do this, but I think Im going to drop out of the game. I received a promotion at work recently, and it has me far busier than my previous position did, taking up nearly all of the time I can post, and it doesnt show any sign of slowing down.
Ive had a lot of fun with this game, but even when do I manage to have a free minute or two to post, I find myself in a 'blah' mood towards catching up on what all has happened since I last posted.
Good luck with the game, and if you are ever going to be in Southern Illinois and want to try out of a game of Pathfinder Society, let me know and I'll try to get something together for you!
Jacyn/Seth

DM Carbide |

Sorry to see you go, but congratulations on the promotion--that's a good thing.
Speaking of PFS, I had a question that you might have run into--are you and Kristen allowed to share your rulebooks with each other? I wasn't sure if marital property law outweighed the requirement to have your own rulebooks if you wanted to use something outside core.

![]() |

That's actually a pretty vague area of the rules, because there are a lot of exceptions, but no exhaustive list of them. People seem to want one, but Mike doesnt want to have to rule on every corner case that might be out there, which is probably a wise decision.
The short answer is yes, though that answer would apply the same to many other situations as well.

![]() |

It's been awhile since I've played PFS, but any time a couple were present at my table there were never any concerns about them sharing resources. My 2 cents.
Jacyn, I'm really sorry to see you go as well, but I completely understand. In fact, I'm in the process of withdrawing from all of my other PbP games due to extreme difficulties I'm going through in my own personal life.
I'm going to try to keep going with this game mostly because it's my longest running game, and we have so many good memories from this adventure and playing together that I just don't feel like I could walk away from that.
So...here's to the future. Jacyn, best of luck with you in your new job. And if life gets to the point you're able to, I'd love to be able to play with you again some time.
(I think Katya might be the saddest to see you go though - we had such a nice budding romance brewing there!)

DM Carbide |

Adam and Katya, are you still around?

DM Carbide |

You had some information behind a spoiler tag that I probably should just have assumed you shared with the party; going forward, would you like me to do that?
Good luck with the new job, btw.

How are we going to handle Jacyn's departure from the party? Will he stay with Sabrina at the temple as a guard?
And do we want to try and recruit one more to replace him? I mentioned again again to Oladon that there might be room for her if she wanted to join (with more freedom on character creation this time) but not really gotten any response.

DM Carbide |

Jacyn will operate out of Oleg and Svetlana's for now, augmenting Kesten Garess' merchant escort and general guard force there.
As for a replacement, I'll leave it up to you. Between the module as written and Alex Kilcoyne's expansion to a 6-person party, I expect I can come up with a level of opposition that will be challenging but not party-stompingly unbalanced either way. You still have a fair lot of melee power even without Jacyn.

I suppose the nice thing about inviting another player is that we pretty much have all of the main roles covered, so whoever joins would be able to bring whatever he/she wants. Opens it up to more choices and creativity.
But that said, it also means that we don't really NEED another player. Thoughts from anyone else? Am I the only one who has an opinion one way or another?

DM Carbide |

I have a trip for work; leaving this afternoon, gone all day tomorrow, and back late tomorrow night. Will try to respond to posts quickly, but may have to be terse depending on what's going on. At least my meeting tomorrow won't be in one of those places that doesn't allow cell phones.

I wouldn't mind getting another player on board. I like having six in the party.

DM Carbide |

Do any of you know anyone who might be interested?

I've been considering how Katya will deal with Jacyn leaving the party and I don't entirely know yet. I think I'll just have to see how things go. As for another party member, I've always found odd numbered parties to be a bit weird. I'd be up for finding another person, though I also don't want to see that 6th slot become a rotating door for random players. Hopefully we can find someone as stable as Jacyn was. :)

DM Carbide |

Anyone else have any possibles?

DM Carbide |

I just posted a slight update to the exploration map, although I forgot to mark where Perlivash had indicated the cairn was.

DM Carbide |

OK, I have a metagaming question here. You're about to confront the boar that Vekkel Benzen told you about. He promised you some goodies if you brought him the boar's head (Caput apri defero....), but it has to be at least somewhat fresh. Are you planning on going back to Oleg and Svetlana's anytime soon? If not, I suggest retreating and coming back after you've dealt with the Stag Lord.
OTOH, if anyone's got a volunteer for Jacyn's replacement, going back would be a good time to get them into the party.

DM Carbide |

I just got a show of interest for the sixth slot, so going ahead and fighting the pig would be a reasonable thing at this point (and depending on the character concept, I'll try to make this work without you having to go back to the trading post).

Edvard Zamoyski |
Waves upon approach - if you all accept me as your new whipping boy... sorry, 6th party member then I would be honored to join you while you comb the forest and plains for fun and profit.
Initial character concept is a Half-Elf Bonded Witch with a focus on battlefield control. I'm fairly sure that fits in with general group focus and expectations?
Current profile would be re-worked to suit lower level and point buy, etc.

Katya Volkv |

Welcome aboard Edvard. Always nice to round out a patty, I look forward to roleplaying with you. :)

Edvard Zamoyski |

Was just reading back and wanted to assure you on this point... I've been PbPing with DM Carbide since before DM Carbide existed, so don't worry on that point.
Bit more information on my guy - he will be a devotee of Chucaro, Maiden of Haze and Whimsy: CG female azata empyreal lord of dreams, hallucinations, and mists. Spells will predominately be mind-affecting, and I'll flavor his evil eye as inducing lucid hallucinations in it's targets.
Given this is KM, I'll likely dabble in some magic item construction as well, but will predominately be support focused in combat.

Aye, that he has. The Cap'n's campaign is the longest-lived PbP I've been in; been going since April 2011, so it predates this one by a month.

Apologies, everyone. I had internet connection issues for almost a full month (and maybe a little over). Not fun at all. On the other hand, with all that extra free time I got another job. (So not a lot of free time these days anymore, but bills are being paid off faster than ever. :P)
