The amulet is in the shape of an ankh.

As requested, I made a new OOC thread for you guys, found in the Discussion tab above. Also since you guys are down to 4, I was considering re-opening recruitment eventually to fill the group back out and make it a little more lively. This will probably happen as soon as you finish the current adventure in the tombs.

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

Well, I'm not entirely clear what symbols the First Men used, so...

Byarsh tries pressing the amulet against the wall - at first close to the moon symbol. He then tries touching his armor (the glassiness could be moon-like) to the wall in the same way.

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Camthi:
"Was the moon a symbol for magic? Timmon try your staff again"
as Timmon tries his staff Tama speaks Silius Image and casts a spell causing an illusion of the a crescent moon appearing in the chamber and shedding light onto the door.

Byarsh's amulet and armor both seems to elicit no response from the door.

As the door is bathed in light from Tama's spell, the moon symbol lights up with a pearly radiance. However Timmon touching the door only evokes flashes of light from the sun image.

In the instants when both sun and moon are lit, the entire door begins to rumble.

You guys are getting there with the door, I hope that I didn't make this puzzle too boring.

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

Ah, I had thought that the rumbling door was a sign that it was going to open.

Byarsh puts a hand on Timmon's shoulder and calls out "Daha fazla güç! Sadece fişekleri bu grev!"
"More force! It only flares when it strikes!"
Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1
Byarsh Gyvualinn wrote:

Me too

Tama cast light on the other (MW) staff Byrash took from the statues and indicates he should hit the door with it at the same time as Timmon

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

Sweat is beading off of Timmon's brow as he puts more and more effort in to striking the door with his staff, sparks flying off every time he strikes.

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

His staff also glowing, Byarsh taps the radiant end against the door.

As Timmon hammers on the door, the sun image lights up and the entire door slides down into the floor.

As it does so, brilliant daylight streams through from the other side. As your dark-adapted eyes adjust, you can see that on the other side of the door is a vast, round room made of some sort of black, smooth material. The sun seems to be shining into this space and you can see that it is midday. The walls go up as far as you can see from the doorway, and there is a ledge about 1' wide spiraling its way up the wall.

The floor has a series of concentric steps leading down to where the floor of the odd chamber slopes away into a pit. There is a large, dried bloodstain leading down into the pit.

Perception DC 10:
The room looks like it is made of the same glass as Byarsh's new armor.

Perception DC 20:
The bloodstain looks ancient, as if blood were spilled in the same place over the course of centuries, but centuries ago.

Knowledge(History) DC 20:
You know that this mysterious type of glass has been mentioned before in ancient myths and legends. Although you have likely never seen any before, it is probably the same material as this room is made from. Legend says that this glass was made by before humans ever walked the world.

Map of the new room.

Tama steps into the room bow in hand, an warily searches around.

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 searching the room for traps, tracks or anything else.

Then he looks at the rest of the group, shrugs and signs "Up or Down?"

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

Byarsh peers in and makes room for others to do so.

Awestruck, he looks at his armor and then at the party. "Burası eski. Birinci Erkekler daha büyük olduğunu ve bu yüzden de zırh giymek. Ben şimdi efsane bir madde olarak malzeme farkındayız. Onun gerçek amacı konusunda diyorum, ama, çok yönlü bir yapı malzemesi olarak hizmet gibi görünüyor. Bu kan lekeleri gibi eski."

Sharrim:
"This place is old. It is older than the First Men, and so too is the armor I wear. I now recognize the material as a substance of legend. Regarding its exact purpose I cannot say, but it seems to serve as a versatile building material. It is old like these bloodstains."

He stands in silent contemplation for a moment, his eyes flicking between the narrow path up and the broad stairs down. "Het is duidelijker geworden voor mij dat er geheimen en uitvindingen van de eerste mensen binnen deze catacomben en de ruimte daarbuiten. Als de draken zijn een dergelijke bedreiging, lijkt het beste om meer tools proberen af te wenden ondergang van deze wereld. Aan de andere kant zou ik geen bezwaar tegen het zien van het licht een keer meer."

Camthi:
"It has become clearer to me that there are secrets and inventions of the earliest folk within these catacombs and the space beyond. If the dragons are such a threat, it seems best to seek more tools to stave off destruction from this world. On the other hand, I would not object to seeing the light once more."

After unshouldering his waterskin, Byarsh steps over to the bloodstains on the descending stairs. He takes a swig and then splashes a little on the nearby wall.

"Ruhları burada çok uzun süre susuz gitti.
"Onların bilgelik paylaşmak, böylece bugün bizim kelle paylaşmak."

Sharrim:
"The spirits here have gone thirsty too long.
"Today I share our bounty so that they might share their wisdom."

With that, he stoops down to dribble water over the dried blood. As it trickles over the stains, he watches to see what patterns might form as the liquid absorbs some of the red pigment.

Byarsh manifests Augury regarding whether it is good or bad to descend deeper in this place.

Entering the chamber you can see that the glass walls extend upwards for approximately 40 ft. before they end, appearing to have been burned or broken off at ground level. The narrow spiral walkway seems to be the only way up.

The glass walls and floor are curiously clean for being exposed to the elements. Except for the blood, there is no trace of dust or dirt.

From the position of the sun you can tell that it is early afternoon.

Byarsh:
As the water washes over the ancient bloodstains, you can see patterns in the rivulets of liquid. Writhing spirits rise up; golden steeds race across the desert, and flame rises into the skies. The result of your augury is Woe.

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

Shaking his head, Byarsh looks up from the rivulets of water and old blood. He picks up his staff again and uses it to point upwards. "Yol aşağı Sutekh doğrudan rehberlik olmadan korkunç tehditler ve belirli bir azap sahibidir. Bir gün oraya geri dönmek için neden var, ama için şimdi güneş çağrıları."

Sharrim:
"The way down holds dire threats and certain doom without the direct guidance of the Sutekh. One day we may have cause to return there, but for now the sun calls."

"De trap af wonen verschrikkelijke bedreigingen die niet kan verwerken zonder de steun. Misschien kunnen we nog een dag terug te keren. Naar boven voor nu, ik zeg."

Camthi:
"Down the stairs live terrible threats that cannot handle without aid. Perhaps we might return another day. Upwards for now, I say."

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Tama nods acknowledgement and respect to the seer, stows his bow, grasps a dagger between his teeth, and limbers up. He pauses for the group to reach consensus, allowing time for Timmon or Samaerew to interject, then heads up.

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

Timmon looks up, spreading his arms out, basking in the sunlight. Eindelijk zon!

Camthi:
Finally sunlight! I had almost given up on ever seeing you again. Let us get out of this house of the dead and back into the world of the living.

Timmon has a brief conversation with Batu and then utters a few words and Batu melds into the ground and is gone.
Turning to the others here he speaks in both common tongues.
Camthi&Sharrim:
Let us get out of here brothers, we have lost one down here already, let us get out before other tragedy befalls us again.

So the acrobatics DC for ascending the ledge is 5, but if you can come up with some clever way to help yourselves up I will let you do it with no checks.

The narrow ledge spiraling its way up the cylindrical chamber looks slick and smooth, but curiously seems to give excellent traction when stepped on.

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Tama nods at Timmon, and acends the curious glass ledge, searching for traps as he goes.

Acrobatics 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

Can we not just "take 10" on the acrobatics checks?

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

DM:
Is this the exit I knew of, or do I think we need to find another path. I know you told me I expected to have to descend more, so do I think ascending would take us out on top of the ridge and completely exposed to the dragons?

Timmon, that is a very good point.

Samaerew:
You are not sure exactly where you are, although you have likely passed under the main ridge already. You would have to climb up and take a look to be sure. This is not the exit that you knew of, but neither does any path you have taken through the necropolis involve glass rooms or a pit.

You climb the narrow ledge, spiraling around the glass cylinder until you reach ground level. Looking around, you find yourself on a promontory with the desert spread out below you desolate to the horizon, although you will have to decend quite a ways to reach the desert floor. Behind you, in the direction that you came from is a high, mountainous ridge.

In the distance, through the haze of heat, what appears to be a dragon is wheeling and turning through the skies above a cloud of dust.

It is about 1pm, so you could descend a significant portion of the way down to the desert floor before night, but not all the way.

Perception DC 20:
within the dust, you can just make out what appears to be a skirmish or small battle in progress. Some of the combatants seem to be riding a creature which is kicking up large amounts of dust. The dragon seems to be participating in this skirmish.

Survival DC 10:
This slope would be a very dangerous place to descend the mountain, it would be advisable for you to look for a gentler descent.

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Tama looks around glad to be back on the surface, and questions the group.

Camthi:
Do we press on, or do we camp here. I feel like weve been traveling for months, Ive lost all track of time.

Timmon, using his hands to reduce the glare of the sun looks around and sees the dragon circling afar and tightens visibly. "Ejderha bizi buldu!Çabuk, gözden kaçıp uzaklaşmak gerekir!Bizi bu yüksek yerden aşağıya alalım, ama belki de tam burada, güvenli iniş için biraz dik bir bakar.Yürü!"

Sharrim:
The dragons have found us! Quickly, we must escape from sight, get away from here! Let us get down from this high ground, but maybe not right here, that looks to be a little steep for safe descent. Move!

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

Perception 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2

Hayır! Ejderha önce benim atalarım salonlarında bulmadım; aşağıda dönmek ve bakışlarını altında çalmak isteyen önce akşama bekleyin.

sharrim:
No! The dragons have never before found the halls of my ancestors; we can return below and wait for nightfall before seeking to steal below their gaze.

So is your plan to hide in the tomb until night and then try to find a way down the mountain?

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

I second the hiding out plan

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

I'm seeing very likely death outside and implied death should we descend (though Byarsh wants to explore those lower levels eventually). I think hiding out may be best for now. Then again, Byarsh has the luxury of not packing a code of conduct.

You have only been awake for ~4 hours since you last rested, so what do you do while hiding out in the tomb?

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

How far away is the dragon? I assume that as long as we move cautiously we could remain hidden from the dragon as he appears distracted.

Timmon motions for the others and points away from the dragon in the distance. "Ne yapıyorsun?Kurtulmak için, ölü evine geri dönemeyiz.Çabuk, kaçabilir."

Sharrim:
What are you doing? We need to get away, not go back into the house of the dead. Quickly, we can escape.

The dragon is miles away nearly on the horizon and at the moment seems distracted by whatever it is doing to the cloud of dust near it. There is no indication that it is headed in your direction.

So what are you guys going to do? Hide until nightfall or try to slip away while the dragon is still far away?

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

I say go for it but it may be 3 against 1 with that thought. The dragon is thoroughly distracted right now and we need to try and keep ahead of the the dragon's troops.

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

The conflict is farther away than I originally thought. Byarsh would be willing to try scrambling down if there's some hope of eventually reaching cover. If we're looking at skidding down to an empty valley eyed by a dragon...um, nightfall, please?

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Tama is happy to go along with whatever the group wants. I'm trying to portray him as easygoing and cheerfully reckless so he's happy just as happy relaxing in a cave as any crazy action packed plan.

Since Timmon seems to be the only one with an opinion, lets have you try to slip away through the mountains and try to find a way down to the desert instead of hiding.

You set off across the ridge, fortunately finding enogh shade ti protect you from the merciless desert sun. You travel for the rest of the afternoon. As night falls, you find an outcrop with a ruined tower and two ruined lines of pillars. There is a spill of cyclopian stones down the nearby slope and the skeleton of a dragon which seems to have been crushed beneath the stones a long time ago.

There is also a tent which appears abandoned. About 15` down the steep slope to the east is a body lying limp, caught on an outcrop.

Overview Map

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Tama rushes down the slope and checks the condition of the limp body.

Heal (untrained) 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18

Tama:
He's dead. Probably broke his neck skidding down the slope.

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

DM:
Just making sure, I don't suspect the dragon we saw wheeling to have been Vitriax, right?

Samaerew:
Well Vitriax is certainly the only dragon you have ever seen in this area. He is the most likely candidate if you see a dragon around.

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Tama will look the body over, search it, and lay it out with respect.

Perception (search the body) 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Survival (search for tracks, untrained)1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20
Knowledge Religion (respectful treatment of corpse)1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

Camthi:
What's your story and how did it end?

Tama:
(Perception)[ooc]The body appears to be a Sharrim tribesman, although outfitted slightly better than the nomads who rescued you. [ooc](Survivial)His seem to be the only tracks in the area. They come up the spill of boulders to this outcrop and then run from the tent to where he fell to his death. (Knowledge)The typical method of funeral practice for the Sharrim is burial, unfortunately that would be very difficult here without a major excavation into the rocky soil.

Remember that it is approaching nighttime, and the dragon does not seem to have taken an interest in you. If you want to travel any farther without resting you will have to start making saves for a forced march.

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

"Wat een gezicht. Ik zou niet denken dat de draak heren zou een van hun eigen soort in deze staat te laten."

Camthi:
What a sight. I wouldn't think that the dragon lords would leave one of their own kind in this state.

Timmon looks over the skeletal remains of the dragon, looking for a large tooth or claw.
He then heads over towards the tent, carefully approaching it as both he and Batu peer into it and what might be inside.

The tent contains nothing but the supplies and equipment of one person traveling relatively lightly.

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

Although he is not well-versed in the draconic anatomy, Byarsh performs an examination of the dragon's corpse to get some idea of what type it was and how long ago it may have died.

Knowledge (Arcana) 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Heal 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Byarsh:
The dragon has been reduced to a skeleton in this dry environment, suggesting that it has been here for a very long time indeed. At least a century. You cannot tell what type of dragon it was since the part of the skeleton which would provide the most obvious clue, the head, is buried far under the pile of monumental blocks of stone.

As you examine the ancient ruins, and the modern camp, night falls with the sounds of various nocturnal critters emerging from their burrows. Oddly though, you do not see any other creatures in the immediate vicinity.

Also, today or tomorrow I am going to re-open recruitment for 2 more characters since from what I have heard you still are enthusiastic about this game, but action seems to just be limping along right now.

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Tama wonders aloud

Camthi:
This is an inhospitable landscape but there should be some stirrings of life...hmm i wonder what that mean

Knowledge Nature (absence of critters)1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Tama and Knowledge(Nature) or Survival DC 15:
You have likely never been in a desert before (except for Samaerew) but the nighttime sounds are normal and not dissimilar from those heard the world over. It is odd that there do not seem to even be small creatures nearby since there is no obvious thing keeping them away.

Are you guys going to rest here or try to make a forced march farther down to a lower elevation?

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

Byarsh snorts in response to Tama's musings as the sage pulls his head out of the tent for a quick glance around. "Ik vermoed dat de natuur een draak vreest zelfs in de dood. Voor mij is dat is het signaal genoeg dat enkele wezens zouden storen ons waren we hier rusten. Deze tent is ongestoord, ondanks het overlijden van haar voormalige bewoner, en droegen hem naar een geschikte begraafplaats zou meer dan moeten we proberen in de duisternis. Te roepen licht zou alleen maar aan te kondigen dat we de rest van de vallei. Ja, laten we hier rusten."

Camthi:
"I suspect that nature fears a dragon even in death. To me that is signal enough that few creatures would disturb us were we to rest here. This tent is undisturbed despite the death of its former occupant, and carrying him to a suitable burial site would be more than we should attempt in the darkness. Calling up light would simply announce us to the rest of the valley. Yes, let us rest here."
