Tama, just so you know, E3 is only a small alcove. As a medium sized creature you would be squeezing if you were in that square.

Then I'll stay in my current square, but still stare blankely into the alcove, and orate.

DM:
When I use the ability granted by the crystal (adding flame to my smite attacks, does it generate light?

Samaerew:
That is a very good question. I'll let it give 10' illumination when your smite is active.

Just waiting on Timmon

DM Rolls for later:

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

We're still waiting on me too, since that was just a question. This is my action:

Samaerew brandishes his trident over his head and calls out in Sharrim. Karanlığa, kirli bir saklamıyor! Ben bu kutsal salonu kusur temizlemek!

Sharrim:
The darkness will not hide you, unclean one! I will cleanse your taint from this hallowed hall!

The tines of his trident glow with a sudden fire, and seeing the creature he attacks it without mercy.

Attack 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Damage 1d8 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 5 + (6) = 18 (the d6 is fire damage)

DM:
If it's not evil, let me know and I'll drastically amend my action. I mean, I'll still expend the smite attempt, but if it fails Samaerew willl react differently.

And gorram, do the damage dice ever seem to love me.

It is evil, don't worry.

Samaerew calls out to his ancestors and his trident bursts into the unforgiving light of the desert sun. In that light you can clearly see the sickly creature hiding in the shadows which no longer exist. It has only a moment to panic before Samaerew's trident connects.

Now that combat is over, you have a chance to examine the space and alcove that the creature was living in. The alcove appears to be the nest of the two creatures. It is lined with detritus and the remains of small animals, although amid all that you can see the skeletal remains of a humanoid wearing a suit of armor which gleams in the light.

The alcove is in the wall of a nook off of the hallway. There is a simple stone statue of a Setekh and a broken clay urn, but otherwise very little adornment.

Examining the armor:
The armor is Lamellar amor but it looks almost as if it were made of plates of some sort of glass instead of metal or leather. The glass itself is cloudy and slightly iridescent in the light. It is Lamellar armor with +3 AC, Max Dex of +5, Check Penalty of -1 and no Spell Failure chance.

Perception DC 10:
This nook looks like it is newer than the tomb above by as many as a few centuries, while the hallway itself seems much older.

Perception DC 15:
The humanoid remains seem human, but the glass armor seems to be sized for a creature with slightly different bodily proportions than a human.

Knowlelde(History) DC 20:
There are ancient artifacts from around the world which are said to be made of a mysterious type of glass. Although you have likely never seen any before, it is likely the same material as this armor. Legend says that this glass was made by before humans ever walked the world.

Byarsh:
You feel a prickling sensation on the back of your neck, almost as if you were being watched and you can sense some sort of magic nearby. Also you can make a spellcraft check.

Long post. Lots of things to follow up on here. Have fun.

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

The creature defeated, Samaerew turns to Byarsh.

Sharrim:
Seer, has this armor also been provided by the spirits that reside here for us to use, or is it better left as the posessions of those long deceased?

Man, all this posting in Sharrim leaves me wanting to learn Turkish. It seems like a really interesting language.

Camthi:
The construction here dates to several different eras. Look at this stonework, the tunnel is clearly the oldest work, then the burial chambers were added, finally this nook was excavated. the difference in timing of this work is significant.

He mutters something under his breath Cure lux vulnera and casts a spell causing healing energy to wash across his throat.

1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

That armour has no arcane spell failure chance, do either one of the casters want it?

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

This armor is pretty amazing.

Perception for Byarsh 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Perception for Drøm 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Spellcraft for Byarsh 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Knowledge (History) for Byarsh 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Knowledge (History) for Drøm to Aid 1d20 ⇒ 11

Byarsh:
The magical presence seems to be a divination spell aimed at you and the party, but you cannot tell exactly what spell it is or how much it can detect.

The armor is probably a little powerful but it will (hopefully) hook into the plot later, depending on the choices you make.

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

Sorry about this weekend, I never got close to my computer at all.
Tama: Since it appears that Lylindra has perished during the night in the tomb above would you like to have the Studded Leather or the Chain Shirt? I will take which ever is left over.
Who is taking the dagger?

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

I'm currently wearing the studded leather, I wouldn't mind an upgrade to the chain shirt, or lamellar. The chain shirt I think it moves me from +3 armour bonus to AC to +4, while the glass armour looks awesome. That said the no arcane spell failure chance of the lamellar is very powerful - can Bryash use it?

I was planning to fight mainly with a bow so the dagger isn't super useful for me. Someone should use it though - Samaerew might get the best use out of it.

If no one else takes any of this stuff I'll wear what I can use and carry the rest. Presuming we get to a city we could trade or sell it.

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

Can we start a separate OOC thread for this game? It would nice to get some conversation going that doesn't get confused with the other group.
Tama: I will take the Studded Leather and you can use the Chain Shirt.

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

I mourn the disappearance of Lylindra, but we seem to be a well-balanced party even without. Given the summoner and bard both being able to cast in light armor without penalty, Byarsh would benefit greatly from using the lamellar. I don't see a natural recipient for the dagger.

Byarsh handles one of the lamellar greaves and spares looks for his companions and the tunnel.

Sharrim:
"As best I can tell, you are correct about the architecture, Tama. Samaerew, this may signal that we walk tunnels that predate your ancestors; this armor is...very old... or very new. It may also be that creatures such as the ones we just dispatched tunneled here after the catacombs were built. Either way, we now walk a darker path that the First Men may not have known. We would best be ready for worse things ahead."

Drøm hops about and flips a piece of armor over several times. Chattering and whistling in Auran, he awkwardly uses his beak to try fitting a piece of armor onto Byarsh's arm. Caressing the cuirass, Byarsh muses

"Benekli henüz bir kar-lekeledi dağ geçmiş acele hava gibi şeffaf.
"Atası kucaklama gibi esnek ve ağırlıksız.
"Ruhlar hala benim arama duyabilirsiniz böyle bir kristal rezonans.
"Açık gökyüzü için arayış içinde bu zırh gömleği kendimi olurdu."

Sharrim:

"Speckled yet transparent like the air rushing past a snow-flecked mountain.
"Flexible and weightless as an ancestor's embrace.
"A crystalline resonance such that the spirits might still hear my call.
"I would shroud myself in this armor in our quest for the open skies."

He casts Detect Magic, curious as to what it might perceive.

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

After making sure that everyone is okay and a quick examination of the attacking creatures Timmon heads picks up his lit piece of bone and continues towards the tablet on the floor. Being ever careful by checking nooks and crannies for any other creatures.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Tama gathers up his dropped equipment and moves to support Timmon.

Drawing abreast of timmon he eagerly examins the tablet.

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

But sees nothing special...

You gather around the tablet on the floor, it seems that there are no more nests of the creatures along the walls. The tablet on the floor lies in the doorway of an antechamber. It seems to be the upper half of a larger piece of stone and bears an image, which has almost been obliterated by time, of three figures, two of which look human and are dressed in the archaic fashion of the Djet which you have seen in the tombs and one which is unnaturally tall and skinny. It is not clear what the three figures are doing, as the rest of the image is missing.

To the north there is another alcove, although all you can see of it is a shadowy glimpse of a statue.

Map

Perception DC 15:
The room beyond this doorway looks nearly as old as the hallway itself. The tablet is older still.

Byarsh:
The glass armor is non-magical. The only magic around is the slowly failing magical torch near the statue. With your darkvision, however, you can see the end of the hall. There appears to be a few lines of the intricate Djet images carved into the wall and there is a scorch mark on the wall and floor (as shown on the map).

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

Byarsh straps on the armor and joins the rest of the group as they peer into the cave creepers' lair.

Perception for Byarsh 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Perception for Drøm 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

"Uzak bu pasajda yanmış duvarları vardır, ama bir şey daha var. Birisi veya bir şey bizi izliyor. Bir dünyayı keşfetmek için ruhu projeleri zaman, ruhu geçerken fark edilebilir. Geçenlerde böyle bir ruh, bize yakın olduğunu fark."

Sharrim:
"There are burnt walls farther down this passage, but there is something more. Someone or something is watching us. When one projects his spirit to explore the world, the spirit's passing can be noticed. I recently noticed that such a spirit was near us."

With that, Byarsh prepares to move into the lair and check for anything the cave creepers might have collected over the years.

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Tama peers into the room ahead, put arrow to bow and follows Byarsh.

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

The room ahead is large, the walls to either side lost in the darkness. You can see a statue of a setekh like in the tomb above, although this statue carries a spear. There is a low pedestal with a dying flame burning on it providing shadowy illumination by which you can see the other half of the stone tablet lying on the floor.

Across the rest of the floor there are the broken remains of something made out of wood which was clearly smashed long ago, but preserved in the dry atmosphere of the tomb.

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

Perception 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18
Survival 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 Can I intuit which direction is north and which way we should head towards the exit I know of?

Benim atalarım öncedir? Ne ilk erkek önceye mi?

Sharrim:
Predates my ancestors? What could predate the First Men?

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Tama mutters something "luminaria magna" and spectral torches fill the room with light. He searches the room carefully.

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 and taking ten (if possible) Perception 15

He pays particular attention to any carvings or pictograms.

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

Byarsh is quick to move to the other half of the tablet. From there he motions for Timmon - or perhaps Batu - to bring over the top half.

I'll wait to hear what the bottom half looks like before blindly trying to piece them together.

Tama:
You see some more of what you now recognize as Djet pictograms and hieroglyphics, although you cannot understand their meaning you have a newfound sense of deja-vu while looking at them. The sun rather than the moon seems to be a major motif.

The you can carry the broken tablet over to the other half easily enough, you see that it is the lower potion of the same scene. The complete scene is of the inhumanly skinny figure gesturing for one of the men to look off into the distance with one hand and is handing the other man some sort of hand-held object. Much of the image is erased so you cannot quite make out what the object is or what the central figure is motioning to. If I have time I will try to make a reasonably good picture of what this tablet looks like. I will probably get around to it tomorrow.

You can see that the tablet was pried out of the wall nearby, where it had concealed a secret alcove, now empty.

All of the setekh statues in this particular room appear to be sculpted holding weapons.

Perception DC 20:
The magical flames on the pedestal seem to have images flickering in them of chariots and men, but they are too weak to make out much more detail.

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Tama points out the flames on the pedestal. In quick pidgin he says "Look there are pictures in the flames"

Then he moves to the secret alcove and gives it a thorough searching.

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

Tama:
The alcove is empty except for some shards of wood which appear to have been mounted in a cross shape, perhaps as a display stand for something.

Samaerew:
You cannot tell which way is north, as you are underground with no reference. You do know however that you likely need to keep going forwards and down in elevation when possible to reach an exit in the direction which you are traveling.

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

While the others are looking over the tablets and alcoves Timmon goes over to one of the statues and looks at the weapons that they are holding, saying "Detegendas magicas" as he gets close. (Cast Detect Magic)
(Are they similar to the statues where we found the staffs, are the weapons real or just sculpted replicas?)
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

DM Caleth:
Unless specified otherwise, assume that where-ever Timmon goes, Batu is adjacent to him.

Timmon:
You can see that the weapons held by the statues are just part of the sculpture, not real weapons. [ooc]The only magic is a weak illusion aura coming from the flames on the pedestal.

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

GM:
Which way, on the map, is this "forward"? South? East? (Not the actual directions, but assuming the top of the map is North, that is.)

Samaerew:
By forward, I mean away from the direction which you came, so east on the map.

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

Well, since no one else seems to have any interest in this room...

Samaerew will attempt to herd the group out of this room and onwards through the dungeon (apparent East on the map).

Sharrim:
We should make haste as best we can. I am eager to learn how Vitriax and the others have faired against the draconic forces.

I believe that this is the path that will lead us through to the other side.

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Tama follows Samaerew, eyes wide and arrow ready. We appears to be on the lookout for lurking stranglers!

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Those who move down the hall:
You see that this passageway ends in a wall. Careful inspection shows that the central section of the wall is likely to be a stone slab door. There are several lines of images in the center of the wall. The black images are carved and painted into the wall, but the red appear to have been painted on the wall later.

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

Timmon looks puzzled at the images, chatting with Batu in their strange language.
Linguistics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

Byarsh passes a hand over these new images. "Burada üç ... müzik aletleri? Orada bir ev ve bir güneş ve ayın altındaki. Bu ortalama bir şey herkes için mi?"

Sharrim:
"Here are three...musical instruments? There's a house, and a sun and moon are on the bottom. Does these mean anything to anybody?"

Examining the door more closely, you can see that there is a scorch mark on the wall underneath the right side of the images. The image drawn in red next to the hand looks like the staffs which you took from the first level of the tomb.

You hear a whisper in a strange language run through you minds as you examine the words on the door. The source of the words is not clear, although they are spoken in a female voice.

Tama:
You know that the words are in Djet, the language of the First Men, which you can understand due to your gift from the crystal. They translate to: For the masters of the foundations of the world, an offering given of the sun and the moon. You think that the words are what the pictures on the door mean, especially since the last two symbols are a sun and a moon.

It is really hard to make a puzzle for characters who have no concept of writing. I hope that I did not make this one too obtuse.

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

Ben dil bilmiyorum.

Sharrim:
Have any of you an understanding of what was said? I do not know that tongue.

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

In astonishment Tama exclaims

Camthi:
The door speaks! I know this anguage it is the ancient young of the First Men, I gained and understanding of its words from the crystal in the chambers above. The door says "For the masters of the foundations of the world, an offering given of the sun and the moon"

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

Tama scratches his chin and thinks aloud in an excited voice Een raadsel, Ha dat is fascinerend.

Camthi:
A riddle, Ha this is fascinating. What do the sun and moon give? Light? to whom do we make this offering?

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

Samaerew cocks his head towards Byarsh and Timmon. Ne diyor? he asks. What says he?

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

Byarsh tries to recollect exactly how Tama said what he said.

"Kapı kendine özgü bir dili vardır ve bu dil Birinci Erkekler. Görünüşe göre Tama büyülü kristal üst kattaki bir dil öğrendi. Kapı dünyanın foundationare ustaları, güneş ve ayın bir teklif var diyor. O zamandan beri, biz onlara teklif kime teklifleri ışık ve adam merak oldu."

Sharrim:
"The door has a language of its own, and that language is of the First Men. Apparently Tama learned of the language from the magical crystal upstairs. The door says that the masters of the world's foundationare to have an offering from the sun and moon. Since then, the man has been wondering about if the offerings are light and to whom we should offer them."

Peering at the symbols with no greater understanding than before, the glass-clad seer turns back to the others.

Sharrim, then Camthi:
"The moon and sun both give light, yes, but so does the solar staff granted to us from the rooms above. Perhaps my armor or my amulet are to represent the moon. I can think of nobody else to receive their light than the door itself. Actually, perhaps Batu should hold them both. He...she...it is built of the bones of the Earth itself!"

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

Sharrim:
I think the staff is being handed to... something or someone. Perhaps we must give the staff as an offering? And could it be related to the fires on the statue in the other room?

Only open these spoilers if you want some hints about the door, although you have not fiddled with it for very long at this point.

HINT:
Remember that there is a light scorch mark under the moon on the door.

HINT (INT DC 15):
Remember that in the room previously with the sun motif, the setekh statues were holding weapons.

HINT (KNOWLEDGE(HISTORY) DC 20):
Remember from the first level of the tomb that the moon is an ancient symbol of magic

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

we should fiddle a bit before giving in to hints

In a series of gestures and broken bits ofnshared languages Tama suggests to Byarsh Try using the staff to put fire near the scorch marks?

Timmon asked a while ago for a dedicated OOC thread for this group as opposed to sharing one with the other group and I apologize for forgetting about it for a week or so. Would you guys use it if I made a new, separate OOC thread?

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

OOC thread = good

Timmon, trying to get the door open takes his magical staff and presses the burning end onto the door, first by the scorch marks and then other places all over it.

As the staff strikes the door, the sun image lights up, but only for an instant at a time. In the course of your strikes it seems that the harder the staff taps the door the longer the image is activated for.

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

Byarsh fishes his amulet out from under his new armor.

Does it have any design motif?
