Xaidan:
"This is my language also."

Sorry for the slowdown. I will be posting more this afternoon. I have decided that you will jump to 3rd level as soon as this scene with Urrax an Belisarius is over and you get settled in the compound.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok still here... Krathok just.. listening

I'm back. Could you guys just give me a count of who is in which location right now, so I know what is going on. If you guys are done with this particular scene, I'm thinking about fast forwarding a little so that things stop dragging since there has been some good RP and I have gotten across the exposition required to get into the main part of the campaign.

With Urrax:
I don't like to think of it as a revolution, even though that is very much how Belisarius sees it. How is it any different if in the world he wants it is dragons who are enslaved instead of humans? Urrax pauses for a moment, as if thinkning of somwhere very far off. I have heard of realms where there are no dragons, and humans and dwarves and elves rule themselves, those worlds are far more advanced than our little backwater. That is the world I am trying to create, not one where we trade draconic tyrants for human ones. Fortunately there are human leaders above Belisarius who agree with my vision.

With Belisarius:
Belisarius is able to muster enough understandable Xaidan to make it clear that he can't speak it at a functional level. He sighs frustratedly, saved by the fact that you have reached your destination; a cluster of long, low buildings surrounds a shaded courtyard nestled in the very corner of the walls. He leads you inside to the second floor where he stops you before a pair of rooms which he indicates are yours to split up between the party.

I'm with bel.

Female Elf Scout 1/Fighter (Targeteer) 2

Erie is with Urrax, listening to what he says with great interest.

If my familiar has joined me I've returned to Urrax's pavilion. Otherwise, I'm still waiting and probably getting quite anxious if I can't feel him coming.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

I'd be with Bel.

Moredrel, Your familiar arrived fairly quickly, since it was hanging around the arena while you were imprisoned and it managed to follow your path through the sewers to Urrax's estate.

I am thinking about what to do about your guys wealth by level, since you haven't really gotten any treasure. When you level up, tell me if there is anything specific you want and I'll get it to you somehow.

Staff of the Magi? ;-) I' dunno, a big ass barbarian weapon?

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

I'm with Urrax.

Kjolmar nods in agreement, clearly impressed with the dragons great wisdom. He is glad to hear that Belisarius is not the head of the group, as he doesn't care much for that man.

As for specific equipment, I like menacing weapons, but anything that enhances my mobility and combat effectiveness is good.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Well, the only thing I can think of would be better armor, and, when they come out, a crystal hilt for my mind bolt.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok with Belisarius. Krathok just want stat booster for christmas

During the down time/flash forward Orion will spend some time with someone learning a new language. As a group we should discuss what languages we know and the language Orion learns will be whatever we decide is most univeral.

Just to get this game to pick up the pace again, I was thinkning that the fast forward would be about two weeks, in which time you lie low in Urrax's compound and level up to level three, also thats a good amount of time to realistically begin picking up a language. If you have any conversations which you want to have with Urrax or Belisarius, go ahead and start them. Following are some things which you can learn with Knowledge(Local) by talking to the people who live with Urrax.

Knowledge(Local) DC 10:
Draconic seems to be a lingua franca among the dragonborn, but it is an uncommon dialect, colored by the native languages of the many people who speak it.

Knowledge(Local) DC 15:
Many of the people living in the compound come and go freely, even though they are human and half-elf mostly. There are cloak pins bearing Urrax's sigil which would allow you to move freely through the city, as everyone would assume you were one of Urrax's slaves on business.

Knowledge(Local) DC 20:
Urrax's estate is not the only place where there is a large group of dragonborn. There are also enclaves in places called Tenos Pell and Morhen Pell. There are also a small number of other dragons who fight against the Dragon God but do not work with the dragonborn.

Knowledge(Local) DC 25:
Belisarius is pissed, since it seems that a message arrived from Morhen Pell, supporting Urrax in an argument between the two of them. This implies that there are members of the dragonborn hierarchy above Belsarius and Urrax.

Orion:
After a few days, Belisarius asks you through an interpreter to consider becoming a sworn brother of the dragonborn due to your obvious draconic heritage. Apparently there is an inner group which is the original set of humans with draconic blood who started the organization.

DM:
Orion tells Bel that he will consider it. Though from what he can tell Orion thinks his goals and the Dragonborn goals are the same. He wants to talk about it more.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

[ooc]Untrained Kn:Local :1d20 ⇒ 14

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

Know: Local (also untrained): 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20 I only get the DC 10 result because it's untrained.

Kjolmar spends the time in the compound getting to learn Camthi and Draconic, as well as doing daily practices to keep his battle senses sharp. While practicing with the guards, he discovers how to consistently fool his opponent with a clever type of feinting in order to make it harder for them to hit him (my rogue talent, Befuddling Strike). He also practices opening the locks of the compound doors (but not entering the locked areas), as he figures his experience with the cages should be incentive enough to practice that old skill that he's neglected. He doesn't have a proper set of tools for the job, but what he has should suffice for now.

Hit dice rolls: 2 and 2 on the OoC thread, so 10 more hp.

I'll update the character to level 3 now.

What the best language for Orion to learn so he will be able to communicate with as many people as possible?

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

By the looks of it, Camthi or Xaidan would be best. I dunno which is spoken most frequently in the group, though.

Kjolmar Greyhelm wrote:

I already speak Xaidan, so Camthi it is.

my sheet is updated, so I'm ready whenever you are.

Know: Local(untrained) 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Moredrel apparently doesn't pick up much from those around him.
He spends much of his time over the next two weeks communing with his familiar, a small red fox, and the rest practicing and experimenting with his new spells. He'll be happy to explain what they do and how they work to anyone who shows an interest. Beware.

I'm just waiting for Erie and Krathok to confirm that they have leveled up and make the knowledge(local) checks to move on. I haven't forgotten about you guys, I promise.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Eek - sorry that I'm holding things up. Krathok will be leveled up in the profile come morning my time.
Only significant choice for me was the feat - which has gone to Body Fuel.
I'm not learning a language as I'm liking being the silent type. Plus I'll be in telepathic communication with three of the party as well.

Untrained Knowledge: 1d20 ⇒ 2

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok now 100% 3rd Level.
Who wants to be in Krathok's collective? - I have room for three

Krathok wrote:

*Tentatively raises hand*

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Sure, I'll be in there.

I can already talk to you, so it would make more sense to include someone else.

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

Well, it's not just telepathy, he can also easily heal those in his collective. I would like in, as I'm going to be meleeing, and hopefully drawing attention from the ranged party members.

Kjolmar Greyhelm wrote:

Ditto

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Although I can't threaten, I can attack in melee range no problem. If there's another dedicated melee, you can go in, but otherwise, I'd like the spot.

Hey the more people in melee, the more between me and them. I'm OK with this.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok Collective: Krathok, Quodak, Orion, Kjolmar

For Those in The Collective:
When Krathok initiates the link, you get an initial feeling of a weight pressing upon your mind. That persists for a few moments before dissipating, and you find that you can 'sense' the other collective members.
Through a small amount of effort you also find that you can communicate with them despite the fact that some of you share no common language.

DM Caleth - Krathok will assume that out of combat those friendly people in the collective will relay the gist of what is being said (so I can react to it in character, etc.
In combat - Krathok will only be able to understand what is said in Orcish or specifically stated telepathically.
Is that ok with you?

That works fine. Just distinguish anything said telepathically so that I know what NPCs can't eavesdrop on during conversations.

using spoilers and Italics is the best way to indicate private thought.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok suggest

Collective:
Krathok like cheese... and meat.

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

Collective:
Erm, that's good for Krathok, I suppose I do too.

Orion is ready to go whenever you are.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Ready and willing.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Willing and ready

Female Elf Scout 1/Fighter (Targeteer) 2

Hit Point Rolls: 2d10 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2

Ouch. Mind if I, too, take the average?

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Wow. Two of the large HD character's both rolled two ones. What are the chances?

Female Elf Scout 1/Fighter (Targeteer) 2

Erie would really like a masterwork composite greatbow with a strength bonus of 1, as well as some masterwork hide armor.

I'd forgot to mention gear earlier. There isn't much basic gear I need. No weapons or armor and there are no scrolls. Maybe a defensive item of some kind? Or wands.

Yes Erie, you can take average HP too. How do you people do this? Also, did you make the Knowledge(Local) checks?

After you have been in Urrax's compound for several weeks liying low and waiting for the furor over your escape from the arena to die down you return to your chambers from breakfast one morning to find cloaks and cloak pins for you, each bearing what you know now as Urrax's crest.

Belisarius is also waiting for you in the hallway. He greets you and then begins laying out a plan to you.

Draconic:
I have heard news of a way that we can strike at the dragons from within their own city, and I would like your help. Today a wyrmling is being taken from the hatching spire back to his family's estate. It will be a grand procession, but if I and my men can disrupt it, I beleive we can have the chance to kill the dragon spawn and show them that now they are not safe even in their own city. The cloaks will allow you to pass unnoticed, since they bear a draconic sigil.

Orion stares blankly , face lacking any understanding.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Quodak will relay the meaning of his words through the collective.

I'm going to assume that out of combat you get automatic simultaneous translation from the collective as long as someone understands the language in question.

In combat it will take an action to translate something probably.

"Έτσι έχουμε την ευκαιρία να σκοτώσει ένα μωρό δράκο; Είμαι όλοι για την εντυπωσιακή πίσω, αλλά αυτό δεν καταφέρει πραγματικά τίποτα;"

Draconic:
So we have the chance to kill a dragon baby? I'm all for striking back, but does this actually accomplish anything?
