Female Elf Scout 1/Fighter (Targeteer) 2

Two quivers of arrows should prove adequate for now. Erie will equip herself accordingly.

As you finish equipping yourself from the available equipment, there is a thunderous pounding on the barred main door to the room which sends dust cascading off with every hit. The guards clearly know that you are here.

xiadan:

Sh!t

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Quodak says

Xaidan, not going to bother translating it:

"Someone who can speak with them, ask them if there is an alternate exit!

as he gestures towards the ones who led us all here.

DM Caleth:

Patcher wants you back in his thread, you haven't posted in a while.

Female Elf Scout 1/Fighter (Targeteer) 2

"Ze volgen ons! Snel, is er een andere uitgang?"

Camthi:
"They followed us! Quick, is there another exit?"

Erie looks around, trying to spot another way out of this room. Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Since I don't see any doors, even if they're fairly obvious:

Camthi:
"I really hope you had a better plan than getting us trapped in a storeroom. It's time to go."

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

Kjolmar starts to say something in Dwarven, then realises the futility of talking and instead decides to communicate through action. He grabs a bench, desk, table, or whatever else he can push in order to block the doorway, then motions for the others to help him. He'll continue to move furniture to barricade the doorway.

Your two remaining rescuers begin to push one of the weapon racks to the side but can't make very much progress.

DM Rolls:
1d20 ⇒ 10
1d20 ⇒ 9

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok assists in the attempt to bar the entry.

Strength check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

I should clarify. They are not trying to bar the door, rather they seem to be uncovering a patch of floor.

Seeing what they're trying to do Orion will grab the closest item and violently (and quickly) start throwing things to uncover the patch of ground they're uncovering. He will continue to move things until the spot is uncovered.

Strength Checks;
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

That may have been too much, but Orion is getting frantic to escape at this point

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

Kjolmar now sees that the others are uncovering something, so he assists with that after he builds a big enough barricade on the door.

Strength check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

Your frantic throwing of objects uncovers a large metal grate in the floor, below which you can see a ramp leading into a section of dark tunnel. Something crashes into the door again, and your makeshift barricade shudders.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok needs no encouragement, he barrels onto the ramp and into the darkness as soon as it is uncovered.

Moredrel lets the stronger people open the grate, but will follow Krathok down as soon as he can.

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

Kjolmar follows suit, able to see fine thanks to his Dwarven darkvision.

Female Elf Scout 1/Fighter (Targeteer) 2

Erie will follow the others down the hole.

You and your rescuers disappear down the grate with the chariotfull of stolen equipment just as the guards explode into the room behind a makeshift battering ram.

You are all being hustled along a dimly lit tunnel with a trickle of fetid liquid in the center. None of your rescuers have any sources of light, but the darkness does not seem to hinder them.

Darkvision or Low-Light Vision:
You can see that the tunnel is round and about 15' in diameter. Smaller tunnels branch off the larger one at regular intervals.

Judging from the smell you are probably in a sewer. You go around several bends, and can clearly hear the sounds of guards pursuing you, sometimes even seeing torchlight down a side tunnel, but they do not seem to have found you yet.

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

Kjolmar hustles along quietly for one of his build. He keeps one hand on his short sword's handle as he glances backward nervously. He is having a hard time keeping the quick pace, and is starting to take heaving breaths.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Having smelt much worse in his time, Krathok is unperturbed by the fetid stench. He follows his rescuers movements, easily able to keep them in view from his darkvision.

Orion follows his rescurers. Anywhere is better than being in the clutches of dragons. Somewhere along the way he cast Infernal Healing on himself again. He'll look around to see if anyone else is particularly hurt also. If you want healing put up your current of total HP so Orion can judge at a glance how messed up you are. He'll heal whomever is worse off. This goes for our rescuers also.

Moredrel looks fairly badly burned. 5/9 hp

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

Hp 3/11

Kjolmar is really wheezing now, and occasionally spits out blood. He continues as best he can.

Female Elf Scout 1/Fighter (Targeteer) 2

Erie is slightly singed. 7/9 hit points

Kjolmar Greyhelm wrote:

Noticing Kjolmar's obvious distress Orion walks up to him and places a hand on him as he speaks something arcane.

Com o sangue as feridas perto

As he completes the words Everyone can see Kjolmar's wounds closing and KJ can feel it. A moment later it's as if the wounds were never there.

Over the course of the next minute you get back 10HP

DM:

This is the spell infernal healing. Every time I cast this spell the person radiates evil for a minute. Orion is unaware of this fact. Since he has eschew materials he doesn't actually use devil blood in the casting. It's only relevant if someone bothers to cast detect evil. However in a world without Paladins the chances of that happening are slim. Just wanted to give you a heads up.

Orion:
Infernal Healing is one of those spells where I never understood why it is evil-themed, beyond that it is from the Cheliax book. I might change it to be Draconic Healing, since outsiders work very differently in this world, but it doesn't really matter at this point.

DM Caleth wrote:

dm:

I think its because arcane healing needs to have some sort of downside. In this case it's just a flavor thing with the devil blood, which eschew materials bypasses the material component. It's not really relevant in this campaign so if you don't want it to effect anything it doesn't. I just wanted to let you know so you can use it or not at your discression.

Orion:
Its completely fine. Don't consider it evil though, I think thats silly.

So I rolled for some random encounters and for the guards finding you and nothing came up. I am taking this as a sign from the dice that I should just move you guys along out of the "prologue" as it were.

You come to another ramp and are hustled up it into a cellar room where a larger group of humans closes a secret door back over the opening. As they are looking at you and gathering the loot which had been in the chariot, another man comes down the stairs. Ο αποδοκιμάζει επίσης το σύνολο των "αποστολή" σας, αλλά τουλάχιστον έχετε επιστρέψει επιτυχή. he says as he descends.

Draconic:
Urrax wishes to speak to the new arrivals immediately. He also disapproves of your entire "expedition" but at least you have returned sucessful.

He then addresses you, or at least makes a good effort to.

Camthi:
Our leader, Urrax, wishes to speak to you. Do not be alarmed, I swear on the blood that no harm will come to you.

Female Elf Scout 1/Fighter (Targeteer) 2

You might have copy-pasted the wrong field under Camthi.

Draconic:
A pleasure to meet you too, but why rescue us at all, then? Not that I'm complaining, mind you!

He seems surprised that Erie can speak Draconic, but gladly converses with her.

Draconic:
Ah, you understand draconic. You rescue was an unauthorized expedition into the city, but we are as always glad to welcome former slaves of the dragon god to our ranks.

He then motions for you to follow him up the stairs.

Orion:
You notice that these people are sneaking sidelong glances at you as you pass. Sense Motive would give you some information here.

"Σας ευχαριστούμε για τη διάσωση εμάς, ακόμα κι αν ήταν μια ανόητη κίνδυνο."

Draconic:
"Thank you for rescuing us, even if it was a foolish risk."

To the others: "On nie jest zadowolony zrobili nalot i są przy nas spotkać kogoś nazwie Urrax"

Xaidan:
"He's not pleased they made the raid and they're taking us to meet someone named Urrax"

and then "Hy is nie tevrede nie, hulle het die aanval en hulle neem ons iemand om te voldoen aan die naam Urrax"

Orc:
"He's not pleased they made the raid and they're taking us to meet someone named Urrax"

I'll follow him up the stairs.

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

Kjolmar doesn't understand anything being said, so he's content to simply watch people's expressions and be on the lookout for anything dangerous. When the man motions to go up the stairs, Kjolmar hesitates, looks at the rest of the group for a second, then starts to walk up. He's still breathing heavily, though the spell from Orion has turned his wheezing into more modest panting. He mutters to himself, "Guði, getum við hægja ekki niður hraða hluti? Ég þarf að ná andanum."

Mountain Dwarven:
Gods, can we not slow down the pace a bit? I need to catch my breath.

You ascend the stairs from the basement into a ground level room and walk out into a vast grassy park surrounded by high walls. The grass is tall but well maintained and there are small stands of trees around and even a large lake off to one side. The walls are lined with low one and two story buildings like the one which you came out of. Nearby stands a large golden filigreed pavilion. You are led into the pavilion and see that there is a man there. He is tall and of indeterminate age and stands with a regal bearing. He is wearing a gold embroidered robe which matches his unusually colored eyes nearly perfectly.

The man in the pavilion speaks and makes a perfunctory bow of greeting in your direction. You are fairly certain that he is speaking Draconic, but you all can understand his words. So these are our latest arrivals. Greetings, I am Valentinus Urrax, master of this house and I promise you that you will be safe from the Dragon God here. I would like to know more of you, but I am sure that you would like to eat and rest first.

Also I am thinking about skipping you guys straight to level 3 so that you can fight some real dragons, so keep that in mind

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok has been following along in relatively silence, though thankful for Moredrel's translation. The mention of food makes his stomach churn in anticipation.

Xaidan:

I am very confused about what has happened today and I have many questions. But I am very tired and would like to rest first.

Moredrel bows in return and replies "Σας ευχαριστούμε για την ελευθερία μας και τη φιλοξενία σας.

Draconic:
"Thank you for our freedom and your hospitality. Food and rest would indeed be welcome, but before I can rest, I must ask one more favor. My familiar is out in the city looking for me. Since he would have trouble getting over your walls, is there a gate I may wait by and open to let him in? Then I will be at your service."

Just as a note, when you are in the pavilion, you can understand each other no matter what language you are speaking, so either just use english or feel free to peek at other language spoilers while in this building.

DM Caleth wrote:

"that's interesting." Orion says as he realizes he understands the others.

Urrax smiles that Orion's mention of the linguistic oddity of the building you are in. Ingenious, isn't It? One of my childeren developed the idea. Now however let us eat and I will try to answer some of your questions. He turns to the man who led you here. Staros, would you please tell Irra in the kitchen that we have some guests for lunch.

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

Kjolmar's breathing has calmed at this point, and he's shocked to find that he can understand the words of the humans around him. "Well, I'll be damned! That's one clever trick your son came up with, for sure!" He chuckles a bit and continues. "Food sounds excellent. Show me the table!" He grabs his stomach for emphasis.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Speaking haltingly still confused by the magical translation "Thank you for saving from slaver. Need food and water."

Female Elf Scout 1/Fighter (Targeteer) 2

Whatever "food" here consists of, at least the service will be better than it was in the cells...

With that sentiment in mind, Erie will simply say "Thank you, both for the rescue and for your hospitality." She will then join the others at the table.

Some children run up across the park with chairs, matching the table in their fine craftsmanship and gold filigreed decoration. The children seem considerably better nourished than most human children in this part of the world. Urrax smiles at them and thanks them as they run off, looking backwards over their shoulders at you. Then a few minutes later the food arrives. It is simple fare; bread with oil, cheese and onions sweetened with honey. However there is far more of it than you ever had in captivity. The ale is also considerably richer than the thin drink given to slaves. Urrax does not eat, but smiles as you presumably dig in hungrily.

Welcome to our brotherhood, especially you. He nods at Orion. Although it is pleasing to speak to fellow members of the elder races as well. He indicates Erie, Krathok and Kjolmar. Please feel free to inquire as you will. I promise that I will try to give you any information that I can.

Orion nods reverently and between gulps of food says,

"thank you for rescuing us...and the food."

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Mouth stuffed with bread and cheese "What mean Elder Race, Krathok not old?... and what mean brotherhood?"
