Anklebiter shouts out a suggestion to the earth elemental and casts a banishment spell. The two vrocks on the right seem to waver as if seen through a wave of heat, then disappear with a popping displacement of air. The vrock with the yellow plumage shoved its companion over so it could get to Lefrik as well, and both creatures shook their feathers, dropping the now familiar spores onto Lefrik. The barbarian snarled the pain away as the viny tendrils started growing for every exposed patch of skin. Then, the vrocks attacked.
Lefrik twisted and dodged, and used his weapon to deflect many of the blows, but they kept coming in a hail of swift strikes. First one got through, then another, then a talon got under his armor and ripped a deep wound in his stomach. If it wasn't for his natural toughness and ability to reduce the damage normal weapons and natural attacks did to his flesh, Lefrik would likely have been dead. But he wasn't. Standing there bleeding from a half-dozen or more wounds, he roaed in fury and pain but held his ground.
The priestesses on the dais continued chanting, throwing up protective spells around themselves and the master glyph as they continued their ritual.
Lefrik takes seven hits (one a crit)for a total of 51 damage after DR

Eesh! We need to get some healing into Lefrik, stat!
On my next turn, do you guys want me to start summoning support, or do I get in close and hit Lefrik up with Stoneskin? Keep in mind we also need to get Protection from arrows going against all those soldiers.

Anklebiter shouts a warning about the spells the enemy spellcasters have just cast...

Bruendor Cavescouter |

With his blade drawn, Bruendor advances upon the vrock, pincering it between his cold iron sword and the earth elemental's stone fists. "I think I've lost count of how many vulture demons I've killed," he says to it as his blade slashes out. "But I'm always ready to add another tally mark."

Bruendor's blade darted out repeatedly, stabbing the vrock in weakly defended points, all while letting his elemental friend punch and distract it. The vrock fell to the ground, dead, and Bruendor smile...until he saw the ranks of crossbows pointed at him and Lefrik. He ducked as a second wave of crossbow bolts flew his way. He felt several sting him, and his eyes drooped as the famed drow poison worked its way into his system. Beside him, he saw Lefrik sag as the big man also was hit by several of the tiny bolts. The elemental was pinned between two drow, whose rapiers were will-suited to do much more than scratch small chunks from its rocky hide.

Twin pops of displaced air heralded the summoning of air and water elementals, which did the dual job of blocking incoming fire and sowing hurt and distraction among the enemy. Shrugging off the tiny bolts lodged in their skin, Bruendor and Lefrik continued to press the attack, with Lefrik tearing great wounds and chunks of feathers from his vrock opponent. Practically unnoticed by the barbarian, the viny tendrils from the vrock's spores did marginal damage.
Allevrah frowned at how easily her demon guardians were being dispatched, but she only paused in her chanting to mutter the words to another spell adn then kept going. The master glyph was now pulsing brightly to the chanting of Allevrah and her priestesses.

One of the priestesses shouted something in drow, which you couldn't hear over the noise of combat, but the gist was clear when all of the drow soldiers dropped their crossbows and drew their rapiers. Calla's first two shots drove into the nearest drow with heavy impacts, slaying him instantly. The third, angled for the now dead drow's chest, skipped off his falling skull and flew high. Her elemental charged through the crowd, ignoring the picks and pecks of the rapiers and shortswords as it moved forward. Kelendra's elemental whacked a drow even as she created a direct path from Lefrik to Allevrah.
The drow leader frowned and stopped chanting to raise a curving wall of whirling blades between you and the dais. The 20-foot tall barrier sliced cleanly through and around Kelendra's bridge, sending shudders through the bridge as the force blades chewed into it.

The drow cried out in pain, and his companions, seeing that they really weren't hurting the elemental much, converged on him. Allevrah shouted in the drow tongue, "Stop playing with the elementals and deal with the intruders!" She cast another spell, a banishment, and both elementals vanished with pops of displaced air. The master glyph pulsed a sickly purple, and Allevrah turned back to it, resuming her chanting.
