The documents do not provide any clues as to the spells needed to disrupt the glyphs. Perhaps examination of the glyphs themselves would provide a clue? Assuming you survive to see them in person that is.

wow, the site hasn't been showing me new posts in this thread for a while now, though it does show new posts for the gameplay thread, weird

I think we should get Calla a Nightbane Quiver (16k), it would be super useful for where we're heading. Kel has lots of good items already, her extra 8,000 can go towards that or upgrades for the party.

That could be nice; I'd probably carry a couple quivers then, since my current quiver means I don't have to track ammo (which was a colossal pain), but that's not a big deal.

I'm not sure it's our biggest need, though. Kel, you have a tendency to not take your share of gold, but that hurts us overall since it makes you more vulnerable. You should try to find stuff that will help you with your 10 grand.

I'm thinking if we're going to the darklands we need some kind of daylight something. The nightbane quiver would give you that 20 times a day and those arrows bypass the DR of anything with light sensitivity.

Kel has good stuff across the board already and the best AC in the party; +2 mithral chainmail, +2 shield, +2 ring of protection, belt of dex, headband of prowess, amulet of NA, ring of sustenance. The only thing she would upgrade is the cloak of resistance and the extra +1 pales compared to the nightbane ability. Take the money and get that quiver, or Brue and Lef can upgrade. Also, Kel can fly for 10 minutes a day now, oracle power, which will help keep her out of danger.

Do people think the nightbane quiver is a good purchase?

This black silk quiver bears a silver star-and-moon motif. It can transform up to 20 arrows per day into tangible beams of light. When drawn from the quiver, these arrows produce light as the daylight spell for 5 rounds, after which they disappear. Arrows enhanced in this way prove particularly deadly to light-sensitive and shadowy creatures—an arrow altered by a nightbane quiver bypasses the DR of any creature with light sensitivity and counts as a force effect against shadows and wraiths. Arrows gain these benefits only when shot by the current owner of the quiver. Arrows placed in this quiver retain any magical effect already placed on them.

I don't think the DR effect's going to be that helpful. Most drow don't have it, and most things we fight with DR don't have light sensitivity. It would be 100 rounds of daylight but do we need that for 16,000 gp? Even if we want that, would a wand of daylight be more useful (11,250 gp)?

Please weigh in, because if not, I'll find some other way to spend the money. (And return the 6K to Kel.)

Calla, just pointing out that I can cast Daylight, Light and Communal darkvision, and extend them as needed. ^_^

On a more serious note, I don't see the Nightbane quiver as being a huge gamebreaker in our favour. Where we're headed, I think we'll have other concerns.

I think I'll get an aspect mask (moth, which would give me darkvision 3x/day). Darkvision works with magical darkness, right, Bigrin?; if not, I'll go with mouse, to get evasion 3x/day.

Also, battle strider's boots, for 2,000 gp.

That leaves me with 1,500 gp, if anyone needs it (AB?). If not, I'll find a scroll or two to spend it on.

Motivation:
#1: Mage's sanctum so we can rest unobserved at the end of our travelling day; Secure shelter so we have a place to rest in. These are still the Darklands, and this time we don't have a Drow house to provide room and board.
#2: Overland flight and Passwall to facilitate travel if we come to obstacles; I'll cast Overland flight on myself and extend it with the rod once we're off and moving.
#3: Communal darkvision, protection from arrows and protection from energy for party defense; Stoneskin for Lefrik once we get stuck into the next big fight; Invisibility sphere in case we want to sneak past anyone or anything; Disguise self, Mirror image, Shield and Extended shield for my own convenience.
#4: Various evocations, some empowered, one maximized, so I can contribute to fights. Two Summon monster spells for flanks and whatnot.

FYI, I'll be gone for much of the next two weeks. I'm in Miami from Wednesday through Monday, after which I'll try to check back into all my games.
