A foul omen looms in the sky over the scoundrel city of Riddleport, an ominous shadow that defies the light. Is it a curse laid millennia ago by forgotten mages? Does it forewarn against the return of some terrible foe? Or does it portend a terrible

Okay, apologies. Internet troubles, new router needed. I'm using a temp hot spot just to send this. I will likely be down all day today after this, and possibly part of tomorrow.

I think my dice were doing better when I was being botted. *Sigh*

*pat pat* My attack roll was nothing to write home about, either.

Finally. A (slightly risqué) new page.

So, I was having a conversation with some folks about short-lived pbp games, and I was lifting you guys up as a shining example of how pbp games can go. Do you realize we've been going for 4.5 years strong? And with basically the exact same starting players? I find that awesome. And we're on book 4 of the AP (about halfway through, I'd guess). In comparison, my Shattered Star game is only 6 months behind you, has had more turnover, and are only about 1/3 of the way through book 2.

Kudos, ya'll! Working through illness, jobs, school, and other life circumstances, we still have a great game going. Thank you so much!

It really is good having a good game. I think you're the only GM I've had that's really been successful and able to keep a game going. I've got a couple games I run that I'm really pleased with but it is really amazing how many of them can go by the wayside.

Question now is what to do about this current mess we're in. Stupid drow!

Male Drow Wizard 8 (Abjurer); Init +2; Darkvision 120 ft,; Perception +5; AC 19 (touch 15, flatfooted 15; +4 armour, +2 Dex., +1 natural, +2 deflection), SR 19, hp 37/57; Fort +5; Ref +5; Will +8

I have a way to partially salvage this situation. But unless a staff can cast without material components, I need some onyx -- and we may need to knock this guard unconscious.

The essence of my plan: zombie driders.

Male Goblin Wizard 11 (Abjurer); Init +2; Fly 40 ft.; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +5; AC 18 (touch 14, flatfooted 16; +2 Dex., +1 size, +1 natural, +4 armour), hp 58/77; Fort +6; Ref +6; Will +9

And let me just say I am enjoying this game a lot. ^_^ Both you, the DM and you, my fellow PCs, have been excellent!

My wife returns home tomorrow, so my posting might likely be curtails some until she leaves Jan. 8. I usually have some time to post, but feel free to DMPC me if I'm holding things up (for example, I think it's likely I won't have time to post at all Friday or Saturday, though after that I should still be able to).

Male Goblin Wizard 11 (Abjurer); Init +2; Fly 40 ft.; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +5; AC 18 (touch 14, flatfooted 16; +2 Dex., +1 size, +1 natural, +4 armour), hp 58/77; Fort +6; Ref +6; Will +9

So, Calla and Kel.... can you swing Anklebiter an atonement or something similar? ^^;

Sort of drow/half-elf (Chelaxian) female HP 68, AC 22/16/18, F +10*, R +6*, W +12*, Init +7, Per +16 Inquisitor 8

Do you really think atonement is something Calla is going to do*? Talk to Stargirl for that. :)

* I think she might lose her own divine powers of retribution if she cast that spell!

Male Goblin Wizard 11 (Abjurer); Init +2; Fly 40 ft.; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +5; AC 18 (touch 14, flatfooted 16; +2 Dex., +1 size, +1 natural, +4 armour), hp 58/77; Fort +6; Ref +6; Will +9

Well. I'm not proud of using animate dead. But that soldier had one good point: we need to step up our Drow factor, both to advance and to keep the scavengers from nipping at our heels. We knew we'd have to get at least a little dirty when we went into the Underdark....

.... but I am serious about getting Anklebiter atonement.
Necromancy. Zombies. Bleagh.

My apologies for breaking character and going all real-world, but I saw this today, and I hope you will forgive me for sharing and asking you do the same through social media.

Please read this article, even if it is depressing and terrifying.

Okay.
I vote we show some teeth.
We haven't really gotten that far and the clock is ticking.
Time to show House Vonnarc they haven't taken in a herd of sheep to be bossed around, or we might still be here when our time runs out.

My inclination was a single lash wasn't a big deal, but you bring up some good points. I'll consider myself swayed... Let's maybe try not to kill anyone, though?

One lash per lesson for all of us.
I don't know how many lessons Undamesta thinks have been taught today.

Sounds good to me. The Slavemother might be testing us, so let's take them out. And yeah, pull your punches - we're in deep enough crap as it is to have to worry about killing assets of House Vonnarc.

sounds like we're about to dramatically increase the number of lessons we're taught today, but sure, let's have at it, Kel will start with Rainbow Pattern

HP 43/72, AC 20/13/18, F +8, R +11, W +3, Init +2, Per +12 (+14 traps)

Is this accurate, GM? I mean, did we see or hear anything that would lead us to believe that resistance here would end with a painful death?

Starting tomorrow I will be on a car trip and then visiting family for a week. I SHOULD have internet while visiting, but you never know when something will go wrong and I'll be posting slow regardless.

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas

And to you.

And while I know it's the holidays, let's decide what we want to do in the game (though my posting will continue to be spotty for another couple weeks, and likely non-existent Dec. 30-Jan. 3).

We risk being killed if we don't go along with what's a relatively minor punishment for us; on the other hand, we're getting nowhere fast right now. Perhaps standing up for ourselves will help? I don't know what's best...

GM wrote:
"...punishable by death. Death by torture. I suggest you submit, take your punishment as drow, and live to plan your resistance at a later time."

I say we take the guard's advice, see if we learn anything about the BBDrow, then plan our revolt with full health and resources.

If we're going to have to submit to Undamesta, let's make very sure only one of us is chained and whipped at a time. I don't trust her not to get carried away or filch our stuff. =_=

HP 43/72, AC 20/13/18, F +8, R +11, W +3, Init +2, Per +12 (+14 traps)

I'm not sure how much of that we can manage, but I'll agree. Hell, for all we know, this "punishment" might be the Slavemistress's excuse to get us in one place to have us be her pawns.

Male (Taken 0 HP DMG) Drow for now Barbarian -8

Okay, thinking like drow here... what drow would do? Submit to the punishment, then over the course of the next few days make sure anyone of them that over did the punishment met a horrible messy 'accident'.

Of course, that path might lead to our alignments taking a downshift

I'm going to do something about that javelin at the first opportunity.
It's a point of honour now; that thing is GOING to hit our enemies at some point, if I have to drag out every spell in my book to fix it!

So let's make some sort of plan of action, as otherwise it feels like we're totally stumped right now. We need to figure out how to get to Allevrah and kill her and we're not really any closer to that than we were when we were back on the surface...

I think we're probably going to have to start taking some more risks...
