Okay.
Allevrah's house pretty much screwed our current hosts over, right? They're leaving them and others hanging on the portal war while they do their own thing.
How about we forge proof that our hosts and various others are plotting to take revenge on Allevrah and offer it for sale?
Alternatively, we could assassinate Undamesta and/or that wizard kid they have me working for, and replace them with Disguise self and such to get deeper into the Vonnarc House.
Or I could brew up an alchemical bomb.
Calumny "Calla" Tas'vere
I could see that possible working, but if we betray this house, I'm not sure Allevrah's would "trust" (as far as a drow can trust at all) us enough to get us in a position to do more work if they do accept us in because of our proof.
Maybe we try to start some sort of war between the two houses? I feel like that could be a bit more beneficial...
My thought is let's wait 24 hours and heal up at least a little, and see if our latest happenings get us any more possibilities; if not, we'll try again to figure out what we should do?
Anklebiter the Insane
To be on the safe side, we should probably check that Undamesta really sent this letter. It'd be really Drow to set us up for another fall....
Anklebiter the Insane
Headband, bracers, pearls, rod, caltrops, scrolls, spell components, amulet, staff, dagger, shortsword, waterskin, Magpie tucked in an inside pocket.... Basically my standard gear. I'll leave behind my rations and alchemist fire.
Calumny "Calla" Tas'vere
Calla will leave behind her morningstar, bow and arrows (though bring her hand crossbow and whip). She'll also leave behind her backpack with most of her adventuring gear.
If it appears the others are wearing armor, she'll wear hers, but she's inclined to leave it.
Lefrik Olegson
Unless told Not to, I can easily see Lefrik taking his armor and his axe to be sure. He's in hostile territory (Which in this city is EVERYWHERE) and may not realize the image that might send. So armor, axe, cloak of resistance?
Lefrik Olegson
Lefrik, what is good in life....
"To hide your true self, to deny your urge to kill everyone in a room, and to eat moldy mushrooms while your smarter friends try to keep your group alive..."
*Long stares from the other Ulfen* "Dude... What the Abyss happened to you?"
"I got scars on my soul now, man... you wouldn't get it."
Anklebiter the Insane
Anklebiter, what is good in life?
"To not have been asked that question by another Goblin."
DM Bigrin
So, if I hadn't posted that line about rolling a bluff check (purely to save time on me asking for it later) would more of you have spoken? In the past Anklebiter and Calla haven't been shy about trying to diplo or cajole, but when I asked for a Bluff check (with bonuses I didn't tell you about) everyone turned to Kelendra.
Anklebiter the Insane
Well, I would have been hesitant and in need of some intense thought before I said anything....
Lefrik Olegson
Lefrik hasn't been that chatty to my knowledge. he's tried overhearing rather than talking, and that didn't work well but still. I think he'd still look to others on taking the lead on this one.
I can tell you he's not going to sing 'Axe to the face' and punch her right now :)
Calumny Tas'Vere
Yeah, I probably would have probably said my thought out loud, though I definitely feel it's fraught with peril no matter what we do. But it's also not really a bluff, I don't think -- more sort of calling her bluff.
One of the downsides to PBP, because of course if you hadn't said it, the whole thing would have taken longer. (I do try to anticipate skill checks, so maybe I'd have made a Diplomacy or even Intimidate check.)
Kelendra Sham
I think PbP format changes the way people react as opposed to the table. With my west coast time zone and work schedule I'm usually that last person to get in a post to the day's events, whereas at the table everyone would look to the person with the bluff skill to speak first. Really, that is meta-gaming, so in some ways the PbP format does open the door for role playing vs. roll playing. Based on the way we play our PCs, I would expect AB to stick his foot in his mouth, Brue and Lef to start planning for the fallout of ABs mouth foot, Calla to double down by putting her foot into someone's mouth by way of swift kick, and Kel to be afraid of the impending response to foot actions.
Calumny Tas'Vere
Well, we could go with Calla's thought then, and retcon it that she said it out loud. Worst comes to worst, we get a TPK and start over.
"If that were true, we'd be dead already instead of summoned to see you. If you want something, tell us what it is!"
DM Bigrin
Feel free to throw up any answers/questions you want to give. I can handle these in job lots if you guys think this is getting too bogged down. Just know that she will tit for tat you. If you want to be vague and not really answer, then neither will she. If she gets tired of you being evasive, then the game is off. At that point, you will have either convinced her of your willingness to ally for the moment, or you will be hunted through the city with a pack of ravening drow on your trail.
Calumny Tas'Vere
Sorry, back now and can participate. I like the idea of the game a lot. I think maybe we need to let caution fly to the winds a little, or we're not going to get anywhere.
So what else do we need to know? Where Allevrah is (exactly), how we can get to her, and a way out? Any defenses she may have?
Calumny "Calla" Tas'vere
So we can't PC GM you? :)
So let's figure out our plan while Bigrin's away, guys, so he can get back into it when he returns. Did we want to try to pose as merchants? Someone with secrets to offer (and if so, as someone aware of a plot against him)?
Anklebiter the Insane
It seems like as sensible a way to get at this guy as any, though I'd recommend offering narcotics in bulk and at a reduced price.
I mean, I know we're all a bit on edge and it is looking really attractive to just kick the door down and tear the place down around this guy's ears so we can burn off some stress, but it probably wouldn't go as smoothly as we'd like.
Getting within striking distance is a must.
Then we can unslip the dogs of war.
Quevven Malaggar
I agree with you there. I don't know how quickly you can get us/make us some narcotics, but with your knowledge of alchemy, would you be able to make up a tiny batch of drugs, which we could then use as a sample for the target? If we can get him interested in seeing us, we can bypass a bunch of his security.
Kelendra Sham
The merchant idea is a good one, but let's be sure we pick a commodity that doesn't carry additional problems. If drow society treats drug runners with the death penalty and bootleggers with a lesser charge, then let's opt for the lesser charge. Otherwise the plan to gain an audience through a sampling of our product seems like a good approach.

I was out of town when this came out, so I don't think I ever announced my first contracted work for Paizo. Pretty excited about it. :)
