Ecthelien the Grey |
"Who would waste magic to create such a worthless pool? For what purpose does it serve ?"
The elf shakes his head and moves past, to the gate.
"What of this gate?."
If it is obviously locked he will wait. Otherwise he will motion folks back away and try open/close cantrip on it from a distance
Fundir |
Fundir recovers his courage and moves around the pool to the gate. Slowly his shape fills out into a bulls huge girth. He gras hold of the gate and starts straining to lift the bars.
Str: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 1 = 17
With a grunt he lets go of the bars and takes a deep breath before trying again.
Str: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 1 = 24
GM Sapphire Fox |
The bars start to bend eith fundirs effort, the not all the way through just yet, then as he redoubles the effort he forces the bars aside enough to allow passage into the next room
The chamberhas a number of recesses varved into the walls and a fissure in the ceiling, the smell of guano, permiates the air of the room
Fundir |
Fundir carefully leads the way into the next room, drawing his mace. As he moves forward, the increased bulk and horns of the bull fade away, his shape becoming that of a tiger once more.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 10 + 4 = 33
Fen Kitlom |
No worries. It's hard to tell with avatars sometimes.
Fen looks around the room just past the broken door. She gives the pool a glare as she moves carefully around it. What do you see?"
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
GM Sapphire Fox |
nothing of note in the room, though the more noise you make, you seem to notice the noise of bats more frequently in that room
making your way into the next room
The vaulted ceiling of this vast chamber shows significant signs of damage, with numerous cracks along its surface. In the center of the room, a 10-foot-wide bridge crosses a deep chasm. On the other side, a pair of stone statues watch over the end of the bridge in front of a set of grand brass double doors. The statues depict villagers holding shields and spears.
Fundir |
I moved all of our tokens into the room just to try and keep up with the map. Adjust as desired! :-)
Fundir leads the way past the bat guano, thankful that the bats stayed in the belfry. He approaches the bridge hesitantly, remembering that statues have an annoying habit of coming to life around here.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 10 + 4 = 28
Casting Detect Magic as well.
GM Sapphire Fox |
Fundir moves a bit and notices nothing happening, though as he continues he hears a very faint click as the statues bull rush the poor Nagaji
Bull Rush: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
the statues seem like they would shove the Nagaji back against the wall, and though he is against the wall he is no more then winded, as the Statues start to reset
Fundir |
That depends. It looks like I forgot to post about healing after fighting the zombies. Considering Fundir carries a wand, he would have done so had I remembered that I took dmg. If you are willing to hand wave that, I am at 0. If not, I am -7. Is there any reflex save to avoid the trap? I can gain evasion as a swift action.
GM Sapphire Fox |
all in total it only takes a couple seconds for the statutes to reset before they click into place and are ready again
GM Sapphire Fox |
Considering I was able to go back and edit the post that stated you were knocked into the pit, to where it states you were shoved against the wall, the others are just waiting to see how long it took them to reset
Fundir |
Got ya! I missed that edit! Sorry about that. Like I said, we were posting and editing over the top of each other.
Fundir pushes himself off of the wall, breathing deep. "They pack a hell of a punch.. that's for sure!" he says, looking at his companions. "Its not magical, or I would have seen the aura of the trap spell.. so it has to be physical. Everyone look around to see if you can find the mechanism!"
With that, he peers forward again, looking for the trap that he sprung before.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 10 + 4 = 28
GM Sapphire Fox |
fundir looks around, though looking more carefully at where he was, he notices that about 10 feet on the bridge there is a slight rise in the floor that seems to be the trigger mechanism
White Square is the trap trigger
Fen Kitlom |
"I'm going to go for it." She casts Guidance on herself, and then takes a running jump trying to get over the pressure plate. She stumbles and lands right in the middle of the plate instead of the lovely leap she had planned.
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) - 2 + 1 = 5
Ecthelien the Grey |
Fen, according to my calculations you needed to launch at a steeper angle and with more velocity next time.
Ecthelien waits to see the result of the landing before offering additional (unsolicited) commentary
Arol Halfling |
Arol looks at the Gnome's less than graceful leap.
"You might want to wait a moment Fen..."
After whatever happens to Fen, Arol will drop his pack, cautiously approaches the trigger, and try to disable it.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
GM Sapphire Fox |
bull rush: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
as before Fen finds herself thrown against the wall, as the statues reset, Arol comes up and taking a little bit he is pretty sure he will has disabled the trap
Arol Halfling |
After Arol fiddles with the floor tiles a bit, he stands up and dusts off his hands on his pants.
"I think that should do it. Any volunteers to be sure?"
After half of a second, before anyone can respond he smiles and steps onto the trigger plate.
"Nevermind, if I didn't trust my work why would you?"
GM Sapphire Fox |
As arol steps on to the plate, the statutes remain in place even when it sinks in to floor level
Arol Halfling |
Arol gathers up his equipment, and crosses the trigger plate.
"Now we check to make sure there's nothing else to set off."
As he proceeds forward, he looks for other possible triggers for traps and hidden doors.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 (Add +1 to locate traps.)
GM Sapphire Fox |
The wide brass doors swing open on silent hinges to reveal a vast crypt. The only light emanates from a torch mounted above the crypt, flickering with a pale golden fire. Tall pillars march across the chamber, ending at a dais on the far side, on which is set a large stone sarcophagus.
A single form rests beside the coffin, that of a comely woman
in tattered clothing. She appears to be asleep or unconscious.
As you enter the room a dry, mirthless laugh can be heard from the dark recesses of the tomb.
“So, Kassen’s heroes have come to fight me again. You will make fine minions in my army of the dead. Come and meet your fate.”
With that, a wicked-looking skeleton strides into view wearing polished mail and brandishing a cruel sword in both hands. A cold blue flame burns in its empty eye sockets
Fundir: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Fen: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Arol: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Fundir falls into a trance, calling upon his connection with the natural order of life to combat these undead monstrosities.
Casting Summon Natures Ally, full round cast. On my next turn an Eagle will appear to fight with us.

Ecthelien gasps as Fundir goes down to the vicious blow.
"Fundir! Noooo! "
The elf thinks to rush forward but has no way to heal so he draws a wand and shoots a missile of pure force at red.
Magic missile : 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
"We must drop them quickly."
Fundir |
Well crap. I really hope this doesn't make two characters dying in two days.. I actually really like Fundir!! The other got blasted from full health to dead dead when he was crit'ed by an elemental (almost 30 pts damage in one hit). GM, this puts me at -8 with a Con of 11.. 2 rounds until I die if I can't stabilize.
Lost within his trance, Fundir falls without a sound as the undead wave crashes over him.
Stabilize: 1d20 - 8 ⇒ (1) - 8 = -7
GM Sapphire Fox |
well to be honest I am not going to let anyone die on this final fight, Fundir, if you aren't stabilized before you die, then you will GM Stabilize 1 hp away from death
Arol Halfling |
Seeing the skeletal creature drop Fundir in one blow, a low whistle involuntarily escapes from Arol's mouth. He then springs into action, drawing his light mace from his belt, he hops over Fundir's helpless form to stand in front of the bony monster that just knocked Fundir down. Without looking back he speaks:
"Pull him back out of reach, and get him healed up, I'll try to hold this thing off!
Arol then takes a more defensive posture to better defend himself from attack.
* Move Action to draw the light mace.
** 5 foot step into square with helpless Fundir. (Out of town and using tablet. Please adjust my token on the map.)
*** Standard action to use Total Defense: +4 to AC until next turn.
