Ah, I didn't realize we could do two! Well then, I'll wrap up my elf alchemist (chirugeon by day, vigilante librarian by night) when I get home and work on the halfling monk freedom fighter to pair up with Lewys.

May I introduce Noravia Rataloric, Hunter from Sargava and wanna-be Pathfinder!

Hey Aneirin, I think your stats are incorrect for Noravia. It's a 15 point buy but on a 1 for 1 basis rather than the normal escalating cost

GM-JZ wrote:

So that means I have... What? 4 more points to spend?

I don't know how it works out in terms of point buy but taking your strength from 10 to 16 is 6 points (rather than the usual 10).

At least that's how I understood it.

Well, I know how I would adjust her if that is the case, but I'd like DM Jon to give me a proper answer just in case.

I'm putting this character in the ring for consideration. I designed her for another recruitment for this adventure path but she did not get picked. I've adjusted her stats to account for the house rules regarding point for point buy and the dexterity option on attacks and damage with her light and ranged weapons.

I'm working on an intro vignette to give an example of my writing style. For further examples here are some links to current games I'm in:

This is correct.

that means that I have to redo my character I am working on, or at least his stats.

I've been interested in this campaign since i saw the post, but have been going back and forth on what to play so i'd like to put Viktyr, Paladin of Iomedae, Champion of the downtrodden, survivor of a shadow beast attack up for consideration.

He is still a work in progress, with backstory/personality to be posted later tonight.

I also plan to add on to this profile a shaman or wizard as a second submission that will be added before deadline.

Majorly interested! Beginning plans for a tiefling Monk!

Points for point-buy are spent on a point-for-point basis. So getting a stat to 16 only costs 6 points, rather than 10.

Nice! Alright, reworking Noravia now.

Isin Ghar present with: Tiago Mezinas

A minor nobleman of House Mezinas, he is a Warlock of mixed Irrisen and Cheliaxian background. He is a male Tiefling, so has been relegated to the fringe of Cheliaxian society and has become embittered. He is however a true believer in the Law and has been studying the criminal element operating in the city and is a dedicated Conspiracy Hunter.

Background, Appearance and Personality is still work in progress.

Noravia is updated now!

I've been looking to try out a hellknight for a while, and this seems like the perfect chance! I'll be applying with a battle oracle->Hellknight Signifier.

History:
Originally a cleric of Asmodeus for the Rocktredder tribe, Athraz was revered and respected by his kind, held up as a symbol of how a kobold should act. While the Rocktredders never bothered much with their Westcrown neighbors, given how hard it was to even get in the city to begin with, they could still be seen from time to time scrounging for resources at the edges of the city. It was one such expedition to gather materials that turned Athraz's life around.

As they rummaged for edible plants and scrap items thrown out by the city's residents, a small band of Hellknights happened along and opted to make sport of them. The group was lead by a knight clad in red armor, trimmed in silver, and sporting a large silver horn from his helm's forehead. Unable to withstand the slaughter, Athraz was resigned that this would be his end... when, unexpectedly, he was saved by a paladin wearing olive green armor that bore an uncanny resemblance to a green dragon. Stepping in to save the kobold, the paladin demanded the Hellknights to withdraw and promptly handed one of the more arrogant ones their metal-plated rear ends. Although still not fluent in Common, Athraz recognized the tone of a threat spat by the red and silver warrior, before turning and stomping away. Then, without another word, the paladin left Athraz and the survivors to return to their snarl safely.

Athraz returned to his tribe's warren being hailed as a hero for bringing back kobolds alive, but something within him seemed to have switched. In spite of his best efforts, his thoughts continued to return to the paladin who had saved him and his kin. Why? What would prompt a softskin to risk themselves like that for a bunch of kobolds? Who was this strange warrior?

Unable to suppress his curiosity anymore, Athraz began regularly sneaking into the sewers of Westcrown and spying on the locals, Much to his surprise and pleasure, he often saw his green clad savior walking the streets, standing up to thuggish guards and seemingly keeping the citizenry safe. Over time, he learned this knight's name - Steel Maximo. A former war hero and now champion of the downtrodden and mistreated. A man who used his strength to fight for the weak, because they had no strength of their own. Athraz couldn't fully grasp why or what would motivate him to save a little batch of kobolds, though.

Unfortunately, his hero's days of roaming the streets were numbered. The silver horned soldier returned one day, confronting Maximo in the streets and taunting him into attacking by threatening a little girl. To Athraz's surprise, Maximo instead bargained with the warrior in crimson and silver, agreeing to submit to arrest in exchange for the girl's safety. Athraz watched in horror as his new hero was led away in chains, bound for destinations unknown. The little kobold's questions were not only unanswered, but now, Westcrown had lost one of it's few remaining champions for the weak and pathetic was gone.

Athraz crept back home, unable to focus on anything else, but the tearing down of his new idol. Not for his caring for the weak or saving him, but of someone who had so much strength, he could spare it to the weaker. Something had been altered in the kobold - he could not bring himself to uphold the duties that his devotion to Asmodeus called for. He didn't want to bargain for strength - he wanted to have it for himself! To have so much, he could afford to lend it to others!

That night, Athraz packed up his meager possessions and slipped away from the tribe's warren. He couldn't pursue this new path among his kin - they would likely not approve of it. Returning to the sewers of Westcrown, Athraz began to gather bits and pieces scrap metal and other objects over the next few days, cobbling them together to form armor, weapons and a new home. After nearly a week of scavenging, he was finally ready, and that night, slipped up to the surface of Westcrown's streets.

The following morning, a couple of guards called out a beggar with insults, and the crowd parted to avoid getting caught in the ensuing beating. But before the two guards could harass the poor man, a patchwork of triggers and ropes suddenly snapped up and ensnared the guards, allowing the old beggar time to get away to safety.

Westcrown had a new knight. And he would not rest until he'd repaid the debt he owed the paladin who inspired him.

Personality:
Athraz is still learning how to be more like the paladin who saved his life. While his intentions are (generally) good, his methods can be somewhat problematic in their execution. His racial heritage also shows through at times, especially when he has someone at his mercy - often, Athraz forgets to show restraint and gets too enthusiastic in extracting "justice" from his fallen foes.

Athraz knows that while he seeks to be strong like Steel Maximo, he hasn't quite reached that point yet. His racial instincts also demand that he deal with threats via traps, tricks and the like. Athraz does not consider such tactics cowardly, but rather, divine - it is a testament to his mind and wits to defeat a foe without throwing a single punch. He recognizes that perhaps his hero may not approve of such tactics, but also understands that such dangerous ingenuity is part of who he is, and to completely turn his back on that would deny him a very useful weapon in his arsenal. Besides, his new deity, Apsu, is a god of creation, and in creating traps, he is performing a divine act, with a very meaningful purpose - to protect the weak. He cannot be everywhere to protect others... but he can ensure their safety by creating tools to do the task in his absence.

Athraz has a very defined goal: find the location of his hero and free him, or learn who killed him and make them pay for their actions. Beyond that, he wants to bring low the crimson and silver knight who locked away his idol. He does not know his name, but he knows his calling card: a silver unicorn horn wreathed in snowflakes. This symbol is one that Athraz is constantly on the lookout for, and hopes to one day make him pay for his thuggish and cowardly behavior. To Athraz, threatening others to subdue enemies is true cowardice. Trapmaking at least has a purpose - to ward and protect. But to hide behind another? Utterly shameful.

Character is now complete. Thank you for your consideration and good luck to all.

Archpaladin Zousha here, presenting Aristaios of the Upper Reach, a former Westcrown guttersnipe turned a champion of Iomedae and the melekatha style, returned home to settle old scores and bring justice to the streets.

Still have some minor math to do, and I have to finish hashing out his story and personality some, which I'll do later this week when I have time.

@Aristaios: Your current background looks good, although I might suggest some mechanical changes. A higher Dexterity would probably benefit you more than your current Strength.

I believe dotted is still open? I'm unable at the time because I need sleep before work but I do know it will be a cleric or shaman.

I think I'm going to withdraw my interest in this. The rest of you enjoy yourselves. :)

All right, here's my application! Leon is a battle oracle who currently fears the Hellknights and views them as corrupt. I'd like him to eventually join the Order of the Scourge in their quest to purge corruption and selfishness from those who govern Westcrown.

Backstory:
Leon grew up in the city of Westcrown, raised to parents who followed every law or edict of the city. Poor workers of Westcrown, they toiled for years to simply make a living, and spend their lives in fear of soldiers and guards. As he grew, Leon realized that this was not how life should be, and began to wonder how to revive the once-great city of Westcrown. His natural inclination was to improve the laws being enforced, but he quickly became aware that the problem wasn't the law, it was those who upheld it for their own gain. From that moment on, he quietly began to make contact with others who came to the same conclusion, and they began to work to improve the city, from quietly enforcing the law and helping victims of corrupt officials to talking about how to return the city to its former status as a cultural treasure of Cheliax.

Loup Blanc here, submitting Blast the tiefling kineticist for your perusal. Everything should be in the profile, let me know if you have any comments, questions, etc.

I did take the liberty of taking an "Extra Wild Talent" feat, since it seems highly likely that such a feat will be available with the full release of Occult Adventures; if you'd prefer I switch it out for something else, that's fine, and if when the full book does come out no such feat exists, I can rebuild.

Hey there everyone! For those of you who have already submitted, thank you very much for your interest. If you haven't finished your entry or have only posted in with interest, this is a friendly reminder that recruitment is closing TOMORROW NIGHT at 11:59 PM. Once recruitment closes, you'll have 24 hours to post your character for consideration. If I inform you that you have some changes that need to be made after recruitment is closed, you have 24 hours from when I send you a message to get back to me with an updated sheet.

And with that, I bid you adieu. Hope to see some more stellar submissions.

I fixed a few minor bugs and grammatical errors in Chandra's profile. I think she's ready to go. I've got another character in case Chandra does not make the cut. I'd love to play through this adventure path and enjoy the intrigue that the promotional material suggests is in store. I love the bard class and look forward to the ability to advance a bard up to high levels.

In my previous post, I cited some links to examples of my writing style in other games I'm in currently. By checking my posting history, you can see that I've been a long-time participant in a number of campaigns and look forward to adding this one to my repertoire. I've been roleplaying as both a player and a GM for decades and have been playing Pathfinder pretty much from when it was first introduced.

This is my alternate character idea (to Chandra Florianus above). Years ago, I played a D&D class called a swordsmith with a Halfling and had a lot of fun giving him all manner of tricks to confound larger opponents while being a really good fighter. I think the Swashbuckler class has the potential to create a similar Halfling character, so I'm interested in seeing what I can do with this class/race combination. I might augment his skills with levels in rogue to give him sneak attack damage and perhaps some rogue talents that complement the Swashbuckler Deeds. Anyway, I hope to soon learn that one of my characters is included. If not, have fun and maybe we'll meet in another game another time.

Heh, I haven't even gotten to the monastery he trained at yet.

I'm uncertain about cutting my strength. I know I don't need Weapon Finesse or Slashing Grace thanks to your house rule, but I've got my eye on Power Attack and later Cornugon Smash or whatever that feat is that lets you demoralize as a free action.

I'm sort of aiming for a fusion of Uesugi Kenshin, Anakin Skywalker and Batman...

@Aristaios: I remove the requirement for Power Attack from Cornugon Smash. You just need a certain amount of ranks in Intimidate. I'm not a huge fan of feat taxes, so you'll often see me cut them. I'm working on a document of all my house-rules to put in the Campaign Info thread for easy reference. Unless you're really attached to Power Attack itself, you don't need to take it.

Shalin grew up on side-lined amongst a noble family, unwanted for the slur he put on the bloodline. They tried to send him off to be an adventurer, he took the skills but has remained at home to make the city a juster place for all.

took dirty tricks cos never seen it used, assuming that dex for CMB is cool, if not then will change...

Dark Archive

I am going to withdraw my interest. I have just not had time to put together the character. Good luck all and have fun!

Took me a bit to get her done as this week has been busy for me, but submitting Marigold here for consideration. I think I have everything requested on her profile, but I'm also pretty tired at this point so please let me know if I've missed anything or if anyone has any questions hehe.

I took some liberties with her campaign trait since I'd originally submitted her to another recruitment thread that never made it to character selections and I rather liked what I'd come up with for the origins of her oracle powers; hopefully this will be okay. If not, let me know and I'll see if I can rework it enough to take one of the other campaign traits instead!

Due to RL jumping at me, I am going to have to pull interest in this one. :(

Viktyr is 90% done I will be doing another pass on him tonight/tomorrow might change one or two things I'm not happy with.

I'll also post my shaman on this profile too he should be finished tomorrow also.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Dotting for interest, will submit a char in a couple of hours.

Got my two submissions mostly done!

Here is Valeael Artreon; Dr. Artreon by day, Quick Val the historian and shadow fighter by night! (Still working on the backstory, but I at least wanted to get up what I've gotten so far.)

And here is Shoshanna Viebnitz, halfling abolitionist and martial arts instructor. I did a minor background link with Lewys Freeman in 'shanna's backstory - if they're both picked, it seems appropriate that they're familiar with each other, but if only one is picked, I didn't want it to be a "Hey, where's my partner?" situation.

Liberty's Edge

Ok here are my two submissions:

Lewys Freeman Escaped slave and wannabe activist.

Abraham Maedrhos Brilliant but arrogant Pathfinder in search of esoteric knowledge.

Hope you find them interesting!

I'm sticking to just one submission with Noravia Rataloric. Okay, best of luck to all!

I think that'll work then. I'll take two points out of STR and move it to DEX.

Open recruitment is now CLOSED. I will not consider any submissions by those who have not previously expressed interest at this time. If you have, please post in with your character within 24 hours. If I find any mistakes in your sheet, I will PM you. I expect to hear from you about any corrections that need fixing within 24 hours; my finding mistakes does not preclude you being selected, but if I don't hear from you about fixing the mistakes, that will impact my decision negatively.

I have to write a paper tomorrow, but expect my selections to be up by Saturday morning. That'll give time for those who haven't submitted yet to get their characters in, and for me to look them over. I work at 2 PM EST, so if you haven't heard from me by then, don't expect anything before 8 PM, as that's when I'm off work.

Best of luck to all!

I made a list of the entries, although I've probably overlooked some. It looks like an interesting selection. Just 5 humans, 4 halflings, 4 tieflings, and 5 others (elf, half-elf, half-orc, fetchling, and kobald). There are 14 males and 4 females. Sorry if I've missed anyone. Looks like a good mix of fighter types, spell casters, and support types. Good luck to all.

Lewys Freeman Male Halfling bard (Arcane duelist)
Abraham Maedrhos male human arcanist (brown-fur transmuter)

Valeale Artreon male elf Alchemist
Shoshanna Viebnitz female halfling monk (unchained)

Viktyr Creed male fetchling paladin (of Iomedae)

Marigold Montajay female halfling Oracle (Community Guardian)

Shalin Evalyn male Tiefling Hexcrafter (magus)

Aristaios male Tiefling Monk (unchained)

Naberius "Blast" male Tiefling Kineticist

Leon Male Half-Elf Battle Oracle

Tiago Mezinas Male Tiefling Winter Witch

Athraz the Redeemed Male Kobold Cleric

Noravia Rataloric Female Human Hunter

Cillian Castilain Male human Swashbuckler

Darric Halstrum Male Half-Orc Brawler

Daniel Peterson Male Human Investigator (Steel Hound)

Chandra Florianos Female Human Bard
Gray Goldhand Male Halfling Swashbuckler (Mouser)

I thought I would mention that I would consider running Chandra with Diva Archetype, if the "famous" feature would be applicable for a campaign starting and probably continuing in a large city like Westcrown and if the advantages provided would be suitable compensation for that which is given up. So if this archetype would be appropriate and if it would improve Chandra's appeal as a PC, consider it something I will adopt.

I've finished Aristaios' math as far as I know, and will finish his backstory when I'm done with work and am not posting from a phone.

Hello there, everyone. I've looked over all of the entries, and I'm beginning to narrow them down. At this point, I'll be sending out PMs to those whose characters I'm potentially interested in, but may have some errors/things I'd like elaborated. If you do NOT receive a PM, this does not mean I'm not considering you; you may have nothing I need fixed, or have already mentioned here in the thread that you'll get to it ASAP.

Those of you who receive a PM: If you would, please reply as soon as you can. I don't need a large timeline of how you'll fix it, when you will, how much you want to play, etc. A simple "Gotcha, I'll get to that and let you know when it's done." is all I really need at the moment. I am aware that many of us have jobs/education that takes up some of our free time, so I won't be cutting you off within the hour or anything, but if you could I'd like a reply by tonight.

Alright everybody, I've made my decision! Will the following please report to the discussion thread:

Aristaios of the Upper Reach
Chandra Florianus
Daniel R. Peterson
Lewys Freeman
Naberius; "Blast"
Viktyr Kreed

Thank you all for your time and your submissions.

Aww. Well, best of luck to everyone! Have fun!

Congratulations to everyone who got in!

Congrats to the selected and have a great game! :)

Congrats everyone! Have terrible amounts of fun!
