1 person marked this as a favorite.

I got my first 2e PFS character ready (I hope) to go and looking for an adventure.

Pathfinder Adventure Subscriber

Would love to try either a OneShot or an Adventure, though any game would be fine. Mostly Lvl 1 characters but I can play a pregen if needed.

Open recruiting for 3 seats in Quest #13, Falcon's Descent (Levels 1-4, Levels 1-2 preferred).

There are more applications than I've anticipated.

I believe there are 6 applicants right now, plus, I had 3 rolling over from a previous game. So it'd probably be close to two full tables, depending on how many more applicants there are.

Are there any free GMs out there who are interested in running a second table?

And if so, anyone willing to take a L3? I've got a witch who 1 XP short to be a multiple of 4.

If you want in, just post in Recruitment. I'm pretty sure there are a few 2s so maybe one can be a Level 2-3 game and one a strict Level 1 game. It's easier to get everything sorted when we have a complete list in the thread.

I can take a pregen if you need bodies for a higher tier... I'd rather play at Lvl 1 though but no big deal :)

If you're feeling ready for fire, politics and history, <CLICK HERE> and sign up. I'm reserving 2 seats, but there's plenty of room for more.

New player to pbp, thinking I got my character sheet posted up and character made. Anything else I need before I look for my first pbp?

Keogi wrote:

Nope, although I recommend putting all the information in text format on the character sheet rather than linking to an outside document (when I'm GMing from my phone, it's sometimes a problem loading outside sheets). Also, fill out the tagline.

For formatting examples, you can check out characters that posted in Gameplay. There's a near-universal format that most PbP GMs are used to.

I'm sure someone will be along to start recruitment. If you're still gameless in a few weeks, I'll reserve you a seat in the next game I start. (I'm on vacation for a few weeks and not GMing from the road.)

Chadius is recruiting. I think there should still be 1-2 seats left.

Great thanks! I'll be sure to go in and change what I can. I am having trouble figuring out how to upload my sheet front the existing pdf format though but I can work on it!

There is? I haven’t seen that as the case.

There are a lot that are similar, but still a lot of differences in where things are and how they are placed.

Cheers!

Looking for a game. Either 1 - 18 or higher or repeatable.

I have some 1s and 2s and a bard 6.

There are many that I've seen, but I finally just settled on a form-fillable pdf of the normal character sheet. Since I play both in-person and on the boards with the same character, I found that keeping 2 sets of books so to speak meant a guarantee that one or both were missing information. Probably not ideal for some GMs, but at least they are accurate now... and less likely to have updates eaten by the mysterious backtracking limit monster.

Pathfinder Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

If there was ever a chance for me to play in person (the Pathfinder community in rural Japan is... well... almost non-existent) I think I would still do the exact reverse of that. I have a good working version of a character sheet on here and links or copies of text of most of the important rules I would need. I would do this for VTTs too if using their own sheets weren't significantly smoother.

So many... so many.

haunted stare into the middle distance

I too am in a rural region with basically no PFS/SFS around to speak of, so all my Society play is online. I also use HLO which helps immensely because I can just hit "Generate Statblock," choose BBCode, and paste in my character sheet. Then it's just a matter of keeping my taglines up to date (which I admittedly do not always do, to my detriment). If I played in person at all, a form-fillable PDF would probably be much more convenient, so I can see the appeal.

I have a new character I was thinking of testing out. I had an idea for power-leveling some new characters. Get a group of few people together and then just run all the low-level repeatables and GM round-Robin style. So I would GM the first game, one of the players would rotate to GM the second and I would play, a third player would rotate to GM the 3rd game and the 2nd GM would play again, that sort of thing. We could also sub in one player doing 4 repeatable quests if we wanted.

Anyone up for that?

Hey Vamp. I'd be interested in something like that. I have two characters who I haven't launched yet and a consistent group could be fun.

I'd be up for that.

I don't really GM but if you need a seat filler I'd be up for it.

I could potentially do that. How many scenarios were you thinking?

Me too. But I couldn't start for about 2 weeks. I have GMed 1-06 and 1-10 on the boards before, and would probably want to try out 1-01 or 1-14, but ultimately flexible. LMK!

Are repeatables also repeatable for GM credit or is it just player credit?

Scarab Sages

Okay, looking ahead into this, it seems like there are at least three people +myself willing to do the GM round robin thing (one PMed me) so that seems like a good enough hook to get this thing moving. I have done some research on the best way to move this forward and selected what the first four scenarios should be in order to get the most out of what we’ll be doing (and because they make the most sense story wise, and fit with one of the requests I got. Beyond that, feel free to choose a repeatable 1-4 game you want to run an sign up.

IMPORTANT. Please only sign up if you are down for the long haul. If you have to drop out for some family emergency or something I understand, but let’s try to not just play and then skip out on GMing

@Bigguyinblack- It seems kinda unfair for everyone except 1 guy to GM, but you could wait until slot 7 or something to GM and see how we GM, and we’ll certainly give you GMing tips if you want to dip your toe into GMing.

@Enchanter Tim, Repeatables work for GMs as well so long as the same scenario isn’t on the same character twice (I.e. you can’t GM and apply credit for 1-01 to your -2001, then play 1-01 with your -2001.)

I'll bite, but this needs to be a brand new character from level 1, right? If I brought a character with 4-8 experience it wouldn't work I take it.

Brand new? No. Needs to be level 1 though.

Also, thanks for linking it. I did all that from my phone and linkifying is hard on phone.

Scarab Sages

Well, looks like that's 7! That filled up fast! I'll PM everyone sometime tomorrowish about details. It might be easier to coordinate if everyone had discord so I'll look into that.

I wouldn't mind trying to GM as long as I have a good support group to walk me through it the first few times. I GM 2 groups at work of mostly newbies so I do have the experience -- just not with players who actually know what they're doing :)

Hrmm, there seemed to be a high amount of interest for the first group, you could probably readily get another group of people together for a second group, with perhaps a focus on learning/teaching how to GM. I know the boards had some 'GM schools' in the past with PFS 1e where people would take turns GMing for each other and a few experienced GMs as well. It might not be a bad idea to try it in 2e as well.

Got a question -- Is there some ruling on GM'ing a scenario then playing in it? For instance, assuming I hadn't played Blooming Catastrophe, but GM'ed it. Would there be any restrictions if I played the scenario after GM'ing it?

Also can I GM a scenario/quest/bounty/adventure/AP multiple times and get GM credit for it?

N.B.
I did play Blooming Catastrophe as my first ever PbP game, as well as my first ever P2e game not as a GM.

There's no restrictions on that as far as I am aware, as it'd be a very heavy dis-incentive for people to GM any of the new scenarios as they'd never get to play anything new.

Lantern Lodge

Just a matter of keeping out-of-game knowledge away from your in-game character.

Old guides used to require explicitly telling the GM. I don't remember if that's included in the 2e guide, but it's still a good idea.

Silver Crusade

It is also polite to do so.

Also, you can't stick credit to the same character. So if you've GMed it and applied it to your -2001, you can't play it with your -2001. You need to play it with a character who hasn't experienced it yet.

Also, only Bounties are endlessly replayable/GM credit-able. Some scenarios (and Quests) have the Repeatable tag, which means you can play them as often as you want (with different characters, of course).
Not sure about APs/modules. In PF1 you could replay them if they specifically were intended for a level 1 character (see Crypt of the Everflame and the like), not sure about PF2.

This is done so people don't "boon farm," where you replay a scenario specifically for discounted/early access items and/or boons. You're supposed to play it once, then play something else.

Right. But if I wanted to, I could GM Blooming Catastrophe 10x (just not apply the credit to the same character)?

Of course, probably by the 5th time I can probably recite it verbatim but that's beside the point :)

How many of these will be replayable scenarios? I have DMed a few and have played a few, but don't recall which I have done for which. :)

I am looking for the recruitment for the DM tradeoffs.

Sadly mine is filled up, but given it filled up in like, 12 hours you could probably start up your own and get people doing it for a second group of 7 (6 players+1GM)

Horizon Hunters

Maybe.

Alright there seems to be some interest, at least 3 people who weren't able to join the round robin group 1, so, why not get another group going?

Signups are here, I've left places open but tried to keep the three people who have expressed interest in mind. I can fill a spot if needed, but I'd prefer if other people got a shot at this first.
