It's barely light here, so my brain is still sleepy. Give me a bit to wake up and post. And I agree, when it's time to sell the ship, Stefan's +10 diplomacy will come in handy.

Kristin Frisk |

Cool!
For what it’s worth, I have a “Craft: Carpentry” at a total of 6 (really a +8 with my Masterwork Tool set). I can always lend a hand if anyone needs me to.
That said, now that we have a plan it sounds like we're working on the carpentry for the next few days.
To get it done properly we need the target number in gold for the Craft DC.
At which point we set the DC and determine how long it will take via our roll.
If we use accelerated crafting the DC goes up by 10, but we can get it done faster.
For now the DC to repair some problems with the ship is only a base of 10 (Typical Item; in this case it's "typical" in that we're working on fixing beams and boards, but there's a lot of them).
So if we have a DC of 10 and add +10 for accelerated Crafting we only need a roll of 20.
If we get a total of 20 on our roll, that means we repair 200 GP of repairs in one week. So we need to roll more than a 20 by a lot - the more "aid checks" we can get, the faster we get it done.
Every successful Aid Check grants a +2 to the roll - the higher the better in this case.
Come on, guys, we can totally do this!
Who is the person who is rolling the base DC Check so we know who will aid them? I can do it, but it's up to you guys...

Taissa Sloane |

Taissa's Craft Carpentry is +5 (and with the masterwork tools she just bought from the bazaar it comes up to +7).
Craft Carpentry: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 (Whether to aid or start the ball rolling. If Kat wants to start, as she has the best modifier, then I have no issue with that.)

Polux |

Not even sure if someone untrained can aid?
Carpentry: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
(+2 added if there are tools available for Polux to use. If not, net modifier is 0)

Taissa Sloane |

Polux, did you still want to do that retcon with Snaga on the social rp thread so we can finalise our plans with him? I can have Taissa join in, if you are.

Polux |

Just to clarify, I assumed Polux spoke to Hack as he left, and not that he would also move topside.
Regarding Snaga: Yeah sure, Polux had started the conversation, but it was never followed up.

Dain GM |

Taissa and Polux - I've been checking the Social Thread and haven't seen anything ret-conned there regarding Snaga, yet.
I understand that you guys have been keeping in touch with PM's but I have to say, I'm really looking forward to seeing that RP between you both on the Social Thread or the main page soon as I feel it's pretty important to see how things will develop.
As an aside, I'm making a lot of this up as I go, so it's really a cool thing for me when I see players take the game in a way I hadn't expected it to go; it's kind of like I get to enjoy the story you guys are writing, and I appreciate all of your efforts and the way things are coming together to make that happen!
In this case, I'm pretty interested as a reader and GM to see what happens next, so to get the ball rolling I added a little RP on the boards to get things started. Hope it helps!
Mel, Zayna, Stefan and Hack - feel free to jump in at any time, too; you've got pretty powerful sailor who is going to be pretty helpful in getting you all to the next part of your quest, not to mention that but you've got this thing with the goblin and the way it's been RP'd out already has me pretty interested.
I can't wait to see what you guys do next :)

Taissa Sloane |

Regarding retcon and follow up: Since Polux was aboard the ship and interrogating Snaga when Taissa was in town, then she will leave him to lead the discussion/conversation. This would have happened once we got back to the ship (around 2.30pm). I may put a little something on the social thread just to start things off (due to time zone restrictions), but Taissa will defer to Polux in this matter. (Maybe this serves as a transference of information and decision between the Captain Polux and his original crew?)
Thanks, GM. :)

Taissa Sloane |

Polux is discussing permitting the goblin to join our crew here:
Corsairs of Varisia social rp thread
(Zayna, Stefan and Hack, if you would kindly join us there, for this part? ... Let's get this part of the conversation and storyline finished. Thanks. :))

Taissa Sloane |

If anyone wants to borrow Taissa's masterwork crafting tools (if they aren't in use), then she will lend them out. +2 bonus to your Craft check.

Stefan Lebeda |

Guys, my posting will be spotty at best the next few days. My grandson had a seizure yesterday when I was watching him and we have been in the hospital since. I'm a little bit of a mess atm. Dain, if needed, go ahead and NPC me. Tomorrow I should know more and maybe hopefully good news.

Taissa Sloane |

Stefan, I'm sorry to hear of your grandson's seizure and hospitalisation. May he recover soon. And take care of yourself, too.

Dain GM |

It's alright, Stefan. I understand seizures very much. They are not fun, but having his family with him will help a lot.
Take all the time you need, we'll be here.

Taissa Sloane |

I'm very busy with work presently and can't post. Later this afternoon and tonight my time, I will catch up on all the rp replies as well as some new ones. And I will write the letter to the Regent for Stefan since he can't due to RL responsibilities. Stefan (and gang), I hope the letter meets with your approval once you've read it.

Taissa Sloane |

Dain, I sent you a copy of the Lord Regent's letter to your email.
I seem to lose all the formatting when I try to email or upload the letter and post here. Either way, it's in your email acct and the rest of the rp I will do tomorrow as it's really late here and I have work tomorrow.
Thanks. :)

Polux |

I am really very sorry to hear about what happened. I hope everything turns out the best as possible for your grandson. I wish him all the best.

Taissa Sloane |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Hopefully this link works. All the formatting of the letter has disappeared after uploading the file to Google Documents.
But least you can see the message contained within.

Taissa Sloane |

Sorry Hack, I forgot to change the settings on that doc. It's now viewable to anyone with a link to it. (Fingers crossed it works, otherwise I will give each person permission to view it.)
Please try again. :)

Polux |

The letter is excellent Taissa - very well done. And also, thank you for taking care of that one.

Taissa Sloane |

Thank you, Polux. And no worries -- it is good to get it out of the way and ensure our employers know what's up. :)
btw, would you like there to be some social rp between our lot over the two weeks of sailing?

Polux |

Yeah, I think that would be a great idea - I'm a tad pressed for time (another midterm coming up tomorrow, this one on Tax Law, and then its 'game night' with some friends) but I'll try to keep on posting so as not to slow things up.

Taissa Sloane |

Good luck with the mid term. I might sound crazy saying this but I actually liked Tax Law. ;) And happy gaming.
Okay, I will try and start something up on the social thread soon.

Polux |

Oh, I am liking it, it is simply too much information all at once.

Stefan Lebeda |

Thanks for taking care of that Taissa, it looks good. As for an update, no tests were done today, so I have to wait until tomorrow for news. Thank all of you for your comments.

Taissa Sloane |

No problem, Stefan. Thank you. :) Good luck with the medical tests tomorrow. Thank you for the update on your grandson. Hope you're doing as well as can be under the current circumstances.

Melthune "Sans helmet" |

[/smaller]Sorry,m work has been hammering me flat these past days. Throwing a quick post before going to bed to try and catch up o sleep.[/smaller]
Much cheers to all, wishing every one all the very best. Thoughts go out to you and yours, Stefan.

Melthune |

Okay....so my phone has decided to quit on me.
Am taking it to the 'shop' tomorrow to get them to find the problem.
Till then, I'll be 'out of the loop' for about twelve hours or so.
Should anything move forward in game? Melthune will advance as able and attack.
Much cheers and best wishes to all.

Dain GM |

Hey guys!
So at this point I'm still waiting for Polux to roll his Critical Hit Confirmation and for Hack to do something.
As soon as I get their actions, I'll have the round over, the enemy move, then it's your turn to finish things off.
The alternative is that I could RP out Hack.
I'd rather not do that, though, but it's been a few days and nothing's happening.
So I'm putting it to you guys - should I wait for Hack to move, or just NPC him?
Any thoughts?

Melthune |

I'm content to wait.
Real Life can roll over people really unexpectedly. Such as my phone deciding it wasn't going to connect to the interwebz...Just, simply because it decided to stop doing so. (¬_¬)
Given a different point in my shifts, that could have meant a day or two un-connected.
Wishing every one all the very best. Much cheers to all.

Shenkt "Hack" Corchran |

I am soooo.....sorry. For some reason I was not getting the notifications from the Gameplay thread. I was from discussion and gameplay in the RP thread though. Weird...just NPC me out in this one. I will not be able to post until early morning tomorrow.

Polux |

Dain, I don't think that Polux critted...

Dain GM |

Don't the marines count as 'soft cover' for those shooting from behind them?
Ah, I didn't know that. Actually, I've never heard of a rule that stipulates that having people between you and a target causes issues (except for the modifier which is negated with Precise Shot). But if you're saying that if between a shooter and a target there are people that you accumulate another -4 penalty, that would be on top of the -4 penalty that happens when being in melee.
I've never seen that rule before. Personally, I think that's a bad rule, because tactically it would negate the value of having your shooters at the back of the party. By this logic if Zayna is at the rear of the marching order behind Melthune, for example, that would mean Melthune would provide a +4 Cover bonus to the enemy that Zayna is shooting.
Well, that said - if that's the rule and I hadn't used it, I can be flexible. As there are people between between the shooters and the targets, then it will unfortunately ret-con some combat actions.
Taissa - your shot against the Cleric earlier missed. You had barely hit him, but with the +4 to his AC your shot did not connect.
Sorry again; I didn't know that rule was in play. Personally I wouldn't have it in my game because it is illogical. That said, I'd recommend having Zayna and Taissa in front for Marching Order in the future.
When shooting through occupied squares, it provides a +4 cover bonus to AC. Improved Precise Shot will negate that, but that is a 6th level feat (I think).
Improved Precise Shot normally is not until level 11 (unless you're a Zen Archer and can get it before you have a BAB of +11), but that typically negates the cover bonuses from things like Rain, Snow and that sort of stuff; as well as Cover Bonuses from shooting from a window or something. Again - in this case I didn't know the deal with people on the field offering cover bonuses.
I'm sorry I didn't know that, but that said - it's in play.
More to come soon -
