"You want a story? How about I tell you of the one of my birth?" Arctorus replies. He waits for the hulking figure to settle in and get focused on his words.
"My mother, so I am told, was once a very great warrior. She and her husband were hunters for their people. But one day, they ventured out too far, and were assaulted by a dragon."
He paused to let the idea sink in before continuing, "Their people gave them up for dead. It wasn't until nearly a year later that she returned to them, terribly injured, weak from hunger, and carrying a child in her arms."
"I was that child. She died shortly after making it back, and I was raised by my people, but I have always been called 'freak.' I have the blood of the dragon in my veins. It's strength fills my muscles. And one day, I will smile as I feel the last pulse of its blood flow between my claws as I kill the dragon responsible for doing this to me."
Arctorus locks eyes with his apparent captor and says adds, "Unless you think you will stop me, first. So what do you say? You want to see if you will be the one to rob me of my destiny?"
I always thought they were afraid of me...maybe I was wrong.
"As to the skills you mention. I am stronger than most any man I've ever met. Probably even stronger than you, no offense. I'm sure you can tell that I'm...different. My body is stronger than most for my size, and my claws can slice through things as well as any blade. If you are looking for protection, I'd be willing to offer my services."
He swirls the mead around in the horn, looking over at the neighboring tables full plates of food and adds, "Just so happens I'm available for hire, able to start immediately." His stomach growls hungrily to punctuate his sentence.
"Let's find out whose tomb this is gonna be!" he calls out before letting out a challenging roar as he raises a clawed hand in preparation for a powerful strike at the thing.

I spent all morning lovingly poring over the Giantslayer Player's Guide, and then I find this! Wonderful! Since it seems to be the style of the day, I'll humbly ask for a set o'rolls. I like the sound of the pacing, too, since I don't think I can handle another mandatory one-post-a-day game just yet.
Thinking a human-raised-by-dwarves ranger... if the dice are kind! If not... well, it'll be a somewhat gimpy human-raised-by-dwarves ranger!
Question: if we take a drawback to gain a third trait, can the third one also be a campaign trait? Because there are two that look perfect for the background of the character I'm coming up with.

Okay. Back to the rolls. The struggle is real.
Normally I greatly dislike dice rolls. However, I think for this campaign I'm going to spice it up. Roll 'em up Brimely!
Think that may the highest one yet.

Are you serious??? Not again... well at least its stupid Giants this time!
looking around the cage discreetly for a way out...
"O-o-okay... Once upon a time there was a blue skinned Goblin alchemist,
Looking up seeing Black Beauty Dingle's animal companion dire bat hanging from the ceiling among the other bats, putting my anxiety at ease Classic idea Black!
..." and he was captured by Orcs, by Humans, and now by Giants. Well as it turns out the Goblin decides to mock the giantess into thinking she cant throw the gob..."
with such a poor tale the giantess bounds over to the bony prison, stirring up all the bats in the cave in the process, opens the cage and attempts to squash the goblin in her fist only to hear a giggle, enraged she opens her hand to see the goblin still laughing at her for he knew he was too small for her usual crush him in her palm tactic, enraged further by the open mocking of such an insignificant creature she throws him in the direction of the pot only to have Black Beauty dive down and rescue him, snatching him from certain death.
"... As I was saying... throwing the goblin into the pot, only to have his looooovely companion bat save him from certain doom! Better luck next time stuuuuupid giant!"
Flying off into the night.
Silly Dingle he was looking past you at the human behind you the whole time... idiot! I will show him who has "skill", dirty drink usurper...
Reaching into the "drink usurper" belongings without him aware and rummaging...
Hah a golden ring and and some gold!
Looking around...
Good no one noticing me
Now looking down, tying the boots of the "drink usurper" together as he speaks with the Ulfen man, looking up at him
And now for you...
Silently crawling under the table to the Ulfen man giving his boots the same treatment, reaching into my alchemy bag and putting chalk all over the mans nice dark pants with a tiny sprinkling of water to give them the just used look If you know what I mean, reaching into his pouches...
Ah, a bunch of gold and a lockett...
Avoiding the shuffling feet of both men as they talk and letting out a giggle, climbing onto the table
"You will never know the depths of my skill!
Both men look at each other, laugh hysterically at the goblin as he sprints out of the tavern having no idea who is really going to get the last laugh.
"I bet you don't expect this tomb gargoyle!
Throwing his newly crafted bomb at the gargoyle with a resounding boom, waiting for the smoke to clear there is nothing left of it or the weak weaponry it was holding, looking to the mural on the wall there stands a blue skinned goblin holding a bomb and that is the only picture as the tomb doors reopen. The only laughing now is from Dangle as he is leaving the room.
Background to follow when aliases can be posted, not going to lie this is one of the most fun characters I have ever made, my wife thought I was crazy laughing at my computer all day. If you have feedback it would be appreciated.

I'll get something written up for you in the next 24 hours or so! I maaay change my concept to an arcane caster of some sort, possibly a sorcerer, but I'm going to see if I can make a viable ranger first.

Right Brimleydower I have the germ of an idea for my Cha 3 Applicant. It will take a while to pull all the threads together so I'll spoiler you an outline and let me know if it worth a punt for your game, thanks.
Mong is a living being, a humanoid with elements of two dwarves, three men and an albino orc head. I'd like to trawl through the racial traits (ARG) of dwarf and orc to cherry pick ones suitable for his background and the mountainous AP, without being silly. If this if too far out then I could rein it in by making Mong a full dwarf or half orc.
Reading through the definition of Charisma I expect that this guy will fail on beauty, force of personality and social graces. However as a mage he could have a future.

** spoiler omitted **
I'm not opposed to the premise, but you would need to pen down a race choice and follow creation rules accordingly. I might remind that a full dwarf would bring that Charisma down to a 1.

I've been really looking forward to this AP and I'm glad to see such a solid DM expressing interest in it.
I also like the grittier approach, I always find that gives a much more flavorful feeling to the game.
I write long posts very often, and I have even created my own homebrew world of Erandor where I have done very significant writing for. Writing is one of my passions, and you can expect large flavorful posts from me.
Ha, that's the same way I do leveling up. I find it way easier and more balanced.
I will be opting for the 15-point buy. I do not trust the RNG :P
My choice for half+1 or rolling hp will be decided when I start getting to building the character.
Same goes for my wealth, once I pick a class I'll let you know.
My character sheet will very readable, and I have actually written a guide on how to format characters for PbP.
Woah, recruitment's open for quite some time.
I like the stress on making a strong character from the ground up for this particular setting. I require the same thing for my own games.
I'll get to work on brainstorming and be back later with some ideas!

Brimleydower |

I'll put my bonnet in the ring.
Great Desna, grant your servant the favour she deserves.
Of course I'll take the rolls.

Yup yup, looks like I'm going to try for a character who is physically frail (perhaps disease-wracked, with an ever-present cough) but with solid Wisdom and Charisma... either going Sorcerer, Cleric, or Oracle, methinks- healers are always welcome, right? That 4 is going into strength; this character is not going to be a fighter by any means. Only other viable build I could think of with these stats is a ragey barbarian with poo-poo charisma or intelligence, and that's really not my style.

Ah well eliminated by dice.. i have to say the dice are eliminating alot of potential players.. mainly because 15 pt buy for a killer ap is so low... why not roll. I really wanted to play but the 15 pts made the dice seem attractive. I like to play with at least 1 decent stat and a 14 doesn't cut it.
