Ah well eliminated by dice.. i have to say the dice are eliminating alot of potential players.. mainly because 15 pt buy for a killer ap is so low... why not roll. I really wanted to play but the 15 pts made the dice seem attractive. I like to play with at least 1 decent stat and a 14 doesn't cut it.

As mentioned, the tone of this game is going to be a bit on the grimdark/gritty side. Flawed characters can be as fun as exemplars. If I'm not mistaken, the pregens for APs are built with 15 point buy.

Hello Brimleydower,

I'd love a set of dice rolls too.

Thank you!

Rolls:
3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2) = 12

3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 3) = 14
3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4) = 15
3d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 4) = 10
3d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 3) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6, 5) = 16

16, 13, 13, 9, 10, 14
or 12, 14, 15, 10, 10, 14

The more people eliminated by bad rolls the more likely I get in! Keep it up you beautiful dice gods!

Screw it I'm going for it. I'll have something in a day or two

Silver Crusade

OK here it is, my startings of a cloistered cleric!
he is a lawbringer aasimar subrace-
stats-
Str: 3
Dex: 10
Con: 8 +2 (10)
Int: 11
Wis: 12+2 (14)
Cha: 12

with permission swapping the aasimars SLA for a +2. if ok I will place it either in Str, wis, or cha, not sure as of yet.

The idea is a book nerd from the clergy being thrown into a world wanted nothing to do with, but must make the best of.

I'm not opposed to the premise, but you would need to pen down a race choice and follow creation rules accordingly. I might remind that a full dwarf would bring that Charisma down to a 1.

Excellent, should be able to avoid reducing Cha with that.

Roll me some bones. However they fall, I'm being a dwarf giant hunting ranger!!!

I can personally vouch for him and say, with moderate certainty, that no he did not.

Alright, I went with the 15 point build for Holsk here. He's fairly well rounded, but has a pretty big hate on orcs (just not half-orcs. Hard when he has a half-orc half-sister).

You are allowed to trade out an SLA for a 1-100 roll on the variant aasimar abilities table.

3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6) = 14

3d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 3) = 8
3d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 6) = 11

14, 11, 8, 14, 11, 6
or 14, 10, 8, 11, 14, 8

Silver Crusade

Hmm. I may do that. Would you wish to roll that as well?

rorek55 wrote:

I'll leave the choice of who rolls up to you, rorek.

A further note on aasimar and tiefling characters:

Anyone wishing to pick a variant heritage may do so freely. Altering the listed SLA will be a random 1d100 roll on their respective table (player or DM rolls, player's choice).

There is a feat for tieflings that I am going to allow aasimar to purchase as well: Fiendish Heritage (which we'll just call Celestial Heritage instead for aasimar). This feat typically allows a player to pick a different heritage and roll a 1d100 to replace their SLA. I will not be running it in this manner. Any one taking this feat will instead be able to roll three times on the relevant table and keep all three results. You will be allowed to substitute your default SLA for one of these rolls (so your run-of-the-mill aasimar would be able to roll three times, or keep daylight and roll for two more special abilities).

Silver Crusade

Give me some rolls DM.let the fates decide!

I'll take that feat. Are we allowed to roll 3 times and then decide if we want to swap out for the SLA? Or decide before hand?

If before hand just give me two rolls.

Decide beforehand. Looks like you made out alright, though!

1d100 ⇒ 70: You gain an additional +2 racial bonus to your Constitution score.
1d100 ⇒ 72: You gain spell resistance equal to 10 + 1/2 your Hit Dice.

would like to try this and am quite a gambler. Also would love to play a tiefling witch so roll that 100's as well.

Oh man, that free animate dead once per day is awesome. SKELETAL BUTLERS FOR EVERYONE!

On sweet. The dice gods deemed me worthy of a small boon it seems! Wish it was in str though, looks like I won't be carrying much save a books and some scrolls. Does sr effect spells I cast on myself?

Nah, only the spells you don't want getting in will be affected.

You'll need to do all of the Scenarios in the recruitment guideline before I consider the application. Beyond that, the details in Holsk's profile seem a bit sparse. I am going to be giving preference to those applications with the most attention to detail, best story-telling, and impressive presentation. While that doesn't necessarily mean the longest background, I will need more than a brief overview.

I'll add more fluff and the other scenarios in a short while (at work now), but I 'll have a more solid description and background ready soon. Might even find a good picture too!

So if this alias thing persists for much longer are you going to take that into account for your character guidelines? I have been trying the last 2 days to make a new one or edit an old one and its not working, anywhere else you would like a submission for a correctly compiled character for your viewing pleasure?

They said they will roll out a patch early next week to address the issue. Still got 25 days to work with, so should have plenty of time for the alias thing to be sorted out.

Love the character variation which die rolling provides so please roll them die and let me know the strengths and weaknesses of one of Trunau's finest.

hmm, I am at a cross roads... I have two domains I am looking at the moment, the sun domain- good vs undead, nifty light spell, fire spells, and the friendship(good) domain- gives me a free action to create a telepathic bond(two way) to any ally in 60ft... spells are meh due to "good" domain.. any thoughts on this? both seem to be... good.

I can't really comment much on what will get mileage, apart from saying that Dragons, Giants, and Orcs are all on the menu. Fire might be good for the frost giant portion, but for red dragons and fire giants? Not so much.

Silver Crusade

ugh, coming up with a reason for a 3 strength (or 3 anything) is hard >.< I will skip ahead to the scenarios, since I pretty much know how he would react in each. will there be any undead (enough to take note of? and I do figure most enemies will be of evil alignment, I was leaning towards good as well.)

S1:

Derick feels the bile as it climbs his throat to burst from his mouth. He had seen much since he left his cozy temple home determined to not let nature keep him from his dreams, but this... he hadn't been ready for that. The awful taste causes him to heave again.

ok, ok, think, you have plenty of knowledge to handle this. Didn't I read about this type of giant somewhere before coming here? Comon THINK! story... I think I remember, he will probably eat me anyway.. unless, don't giants love superstition and magical trinkets? maybe... I think I have an idea.

Derick finds a fair sized rock and picks it up in his hand.
Yes! a story! I have the perfect one! but first, a proposition! you see I have here quite the magical stone!

He holds up the stone and speaks some hoshpodge made up word for magic he remembered hearing from stories when he was young. The stone burst into a heatless flame. (cast continual flame on stone)

you see! Fire that doesn't burn! Yet can be hot! hot enough to boil water! And this is just one of many things it may do!
that's it old boy, lay it on thick. Giants are far from the smartest of creatures, especially this type. He fought ever more to keep the bile from rising again, never letting his eyes stray down to the now cooking corpse.

now I see you are interested! Yes! a story I shall tell, and this magical stone I shall give, but in return I ask for my freedom! It will allow me to tell you a story once every night, but only if I am free! It can cook your meals without needing wood, and never burning you are your food, but only if I am free! you see, I can teach you many things about this stone, but only one thing per story and only one story per night, and only when I am free! Now then, if we have a deal, I shall spin you quite a tale, large than a whale, as you lead me towards the light, so I may leave before the night.

Derick swallows deep. hoping that the giant bought it, as he doubted he would be getting out any other way.

S2:

Derick kindly took the drink, but never actually took a drink from it. placing it on his lips only once to offer the appearance as not to offend. After the man made his proposition Derick merely laughed in his head.
my skills? Hah, if you mean my knowledge of books and my ability to get extremely lucky in extremely horrid situations, then I suppose, if its magic I am not as good at it as most my compatriots, If combat prowesss, well, someone has defiantly been lying then. though I suppose if anything I am intelligent, and a fast learner. something feels out of place here... lets see what I can glean from this encounter...wait, did he say copper? >.>

Derick puts on a smile, warm and friendly, the norm for him to be honest. He looks back to the man and speaks.
well, I guess a good starting place would be with telling me who it was that told you about me, what he told, and where. Also I would need to note exactly what being in your employ entails, and the benefits thereof.

thats right, sound a bit interested. Dangle the bait, lets see if he spills the beans..

S3:

WHY! WHY! WHY did I take that damn job, why did I listen to that fool Ingmund. certainly a fool, as he completely spilled everything, even his source to me! I must speak to that person as well, these tales of me are becoming more and more ridiculous. Seriously, I knew she would make large of my adventures, but she has gone to far... tormenting me in school at the temple, and now she still manages to torment, and praise, me at the same time! I swear I will never win against her... CRAP a TRAP

as Derick's thoughts had strayed he had walked right into a trap, he hadn't even come to until the strange voice began speaking and the braziers turned blue.
drat.. very well then, a Riddle this must be..hmmm

Derick looked too the images, and then the 3 weapons held in the statue in front of him.

clearly its a riddle, I have read about this before haven't I? ohhh what was it... AHAH Derick smiles, once again his studies and natural intelligence began working for him more than any spell or blade could. He walked up to the mural and 3 weapons, quite sure of what needed to be done.. he hoped.

your body is weak they said, you need your magic they said, HA! all I need is my intelligence and wits, and about 15 years worth of books and knowledge to draw from to back it up of course! Once again, brain triumphs over brawn! now then, lets finish this riddle and continue. I long to be out of this place as my condition is beginning to wear on me again...

Did I do these things right?

Yeah, 3 is rough to pull off. Some sort of chronic illness or disability would be some likely choices.

Silver Crusade

yeah, I would rather not have either.. perhaps some sort of magical aliment that came due to a complication at birth because of his heritage. ohhhh I like that.

Hmm... A 3 Wisdom could be like your character was a former slave with little to no interaction about the wider world and thus extremely naive.

Silver Crusade

I had thought about playing an orc barbarian... he he. literally an animal with a greataxe haha!

but that won't work unless I make a wizard instead of a cloistered cleric, which I might if the GM allows. although I am not so sure. I think I like the magical birth defect/condition thing. its not a disease, or a disfigurement, its just magical in its effect :P

I have never had to ask this question before but.. do you gain negative modifiers to your AC if your dex is negative?

Uh... well, yeah.

Phil Tucker wrote:

I'd prefer players stick with one submission.

Delkaneth here, Talthon crunch ready for consideration.

Scenario 1:
Talthon's head whips from side to side, clearing away the cobwebs of an interrupted sleep as much as taking in his surroundings. His mind registers that he is alone in the cage an instant before he notices the giant. His teeth clench as he takes a few heartbeats to study the beast. Not the hardened warriors from the mountains all those years ago, but a giant nonetheless. His mind starts to travel back to that day, distracting him from what the creature is saying, but at the last moment he is able to snap his attention back to the here and now.

"Tales? Aye, I can tell you tales of bravery and battle, valor and honor. I can tell you of strong arms and the strong hearts that wield them, of heroes who win the day through skill at arms and strength of character."

He hesitates, his mind racing through the possible ways this can go but a shadow of doubt already creeping into his heart. Regardless, is hatred for the thing in front of him pushes him forward with far more bravado than he should feel. "Not sure you really want to hear any of my tales, beast. In all my tales, things like you are the enemy........"

Scenario 2:
Talthon nods to the Ulfen but raises his own flagon to return the man's toast. "Rumors can be dangerous things. Tend to cause all sorts of trouble if you're not careful." He takes another pull from the flagon, his eyes darting from left to right trying to determine if this man has approached him alone or if he has brought additional swords with him.

"As for me? I've seen more combat that some. Less than others. I've learned a thing or two about battle - not just 'fighting' mind you, I'm talking the tactics of warfare."

He pauses, this time looking at his drink but not touching it. "Yeah, I've got a skill or two, and I've cracked a few skulls myself besides. Want to talk about hiring me? Let's talk about what type of job it is you had in mind." Not taking his eyes off the merchant, the dwarf raises his hand to signal the nearest barmaid. Somehow his flagon has gone empty.

Scenario 3:
The dwarf curses under his breath in his mative tongue as he backs away from the impenetrable doors. This is why I shouldn't travel alone. He slowly walks a circuit along the wall of the chamber, stopping to examine the three heroes in the mural but being sure not to touch anything just yet. Riddles were never his strong suit, and it seemed unlikely he would be getting out of this room until he solves this one.

Alone in the chamber, Talthon still talks out loud as he tries to work through the problem.

"Three weapons, three arms, three sets of opposites. The riddle is the clue, just have to figure out what it means......." He continues to mumble to himself as he reverses direction and starts the circuit of the small square room again.

Scarab Sages

Looks like this could be a good time. Could I please get some stat rolls?

My stats are so low, I'm having trouble meeting the prereqs for feats.

It's hard to have Power Attack and Combat Expertise without my character being stupid and ugly.
