Fixed. Thanks for the heads-up.

My wife's been sick the last couple of days (don't worry; it's not Covid) and I've been getting tired early after work is over. I keep thinking she'll be better tomorrow. Of course, now that I've posted my excuse for not updating, she will be. :)

Do these aurochs count as outsiders? If so, I think Darya gets an additional 2d6 to damage.

Much better, thank you! Mask mandates came down last weekend here and I am betting we all started passing around the little bugs we'd not been passing around while wearing masks. :)

Indeed. Here's hoping they get better soon! Again, don't worry about things here. We'll be here when you're ready.

Doctor pulled 600ml of fluid from one of their lungs, which is about 2-1/2 cups.

Good news is there wasn't a sign of infection so they were discharged tonight. We still have their dog for the next couple of days while they get settled back in.

Bad news is, cancer markers shot way up, but they just started a more aggressive course of chemo when the markers started climbing, so that may not be as bad as it sounds. Will know in a month or so.

Our friend has been recovering at home, and we returned their dog to them today. They've got family in town for the next few days.

I'll try to move us along tomorrow.

@Uriel, you can't use a swift action in place of a move action. You're also limited to 1 swift action per turn. I'll allow it this time since we've gone a couple of weeks without me updating and I don't want to stall us out redoing your move action.

Wait, can you not? I thought you could always trade an action for a lesser one (the progression being Standard>Move>Swift). IE, instead of a standard and a move, double move. Have I been doing that wrong for years?

You can take a move action in place of a standard action because the rules specifically state this, but there is no rule that says you can do something similar with swift actions. They also give a hard limit of one swift per turn.

PRD wrote:

Action Types

In a normal round, you can perform a standard action and a move action, or you can perform a full-round action. You can also perform one swift action and one or more free actions. You can always take a move action in place of a standard action.

...

Swift Action: A swift action consumes a very small amount of time, but represents a larger expenditure of effort and energy than a free action. You can perform only a single swift action per turn.

The problem as I see it is that swift actions are generally more powerful than standard or move actions, especially since they can be done at any point during your turn, so they aren't really a lesser action per se. They take up very little time in the action economy, true, but what they provide is quite significant.

It might be a reasonable house rule, though if you had a player with, say, a magus or warpriest, that might border on unbalanced given what these classes can do with their swift actions.

Female Aasimar Paladin (Holy Light) 7/Marshal 2. HP 68/75 ; AC 20/10/20 (24/14/24 during SMITE); F+14 R+7 W+12; Init +3; Smite evil 3/day (1); LOH/Holy Light 9/day(3);Mythic 7/day (1) Acid 5, Electricity 5, Cold 5:Daylight (0/3)

I've seen what can happen with that. Had a DM allow the swap and between magus and mythic, one character was taking something like 2-3 rounds of actions in effect, in a single round and devastating the battlefield while everyone else was standing still.

+ end of year, getting ready to teach summer school and then starting a new teaching job in the fall

OK. I'll move us along tomorrow.

Crazy stuff, Telerin. Glad to hear that didn't turn into an incident on the news. :(

On our end, my wife was planning on retiring from the district in a couple of years. And then she decided to leave at the end of this year. And then at the end of last month, amidst some medical issues, she had enough of administrative BS and quit the following week.

She's the second teacher at her school to leave mid-year this year. And six more have already announced that they are leaving when the school year ends. These are crazy-high numbers. You rarely hear about someone planning to leave this far in advance, and leaving in the middle of the school year is practically unheard of.

Some districts are reporting these teachers to the State PED's so that their licenses get dinged or taken away.

Telerin Quenya wrote:

As long as you give the notice required by the contract, they can't do that here. But there's a medical issue in play as well so that changes the rules.

I suspect most of those teachers are not planning to return so to them it's an empty retaliation. This was her 30th year of teaching and she's not planning to return, either.

Sometimes, even rolling a natural 20 isn’t enough to get you past a boss--at least, not when the boss is grammar. Students will create characters, fight epic battles, and explore dungeons, all while learning about and implementing grammatical conventions. By the end of the seminar, even being an ogre with an intelligence of 7 and a perception of 10 won’t be able to stop you from toppling any grammatical boss that dares to challenge you. (WRIT, PROJ)
