Astrianna and Embrianna
If your plan was to make my job harder today with those little suggestions you had put up on the Discussion right before I left for work, then I say – mission accomplished!
I spent an unusually long time during my work-day trying to figure out:
A) if that +2 Stripper Pole that Astrianna is planning on using is considered “bludgeoning” or “piercing” (and everything that those nuances could mean)
B) if Embrianna is actually wearing invisible robes, then where exactly will Emmy be nestled?
That said, you are cruel, cruel lasses, and that’s all I got to say about that :)

Astrianna Sparacello |

I suppose you can also have the Unmentionables of Invisibility as well, but just this once.
A)Bludgeoning
B)She's visible, her clothes are not. MAGIC

David "Dirk" Hawkins |

Hmm, I think I will eventually need to know an enlarge spell so I can that perform that dance like in "From Dusk to Dawn".
Hey - if you do end up doing that dance, you won't need the spell ;)

So many responses fun responses to that post; but decorum prevents me from making any of them... ;)

Oooooh I really liked that song. I'll have to look into those artists... I have yet to find a song appropriate for Astrianna, mostly because she's kind of a chaotic hypocrite. If I could mass together a bunch of different songs that might do it.

David "Dirk" Hawkins |

Adriel Mistleaf |

I even found a song for Adriel. ;)
Yes. I have shaken that goody two shoes paladin persona.
(Though Daniel was like, the best meatshield ever!!)

Once all the text gets put on the internet somewhere I totally will be! I can't afford the books right as they come out, unfortunately.

David "Dirk" Hawkins |

Actually the final boss is Alabaster; he's secretly a were-cat!
I'm heading out to brunch with my father for now.
GM - I'm not sure if I'd stay in the cabin or not; much of that choice hinges on what (if anything) taking the Full Round Action to search last time revealed.
If it revealed anything else of note, I guess I'd take that, too.
If not, I guess I'll make my way to the top to see what's going on - but unless there's a specific reason, David probably won't hurry.

Embrianna |

Alabaster the Were-Cat would be awesome. :)
On another note, I will be taking my little ones and driving to my parents this evening for a weekend visit. I should be able to use their internet once I get there, but my posting my be slow. Feel free to DMPC as needed so I don't slow down the combat too much. I will likely be in the car driving from 2pm to 8pm EST this evening.

Astrianna Sparacello |

Out for most of the night.
Speaking of which, I'm going to be visiting family starting on Wednesday for about 4 days. I won't have internet access. I'm expecting at least 200 posts when I get back. :p

David "Dirk" Hawkins |

Haha I like it! I hope there are more aerial bombardments in the future.
Wednesday is still a pretty long way away... Meanwhile, hopefully we'll have finished this and in be in the Razor long before then.
At which point I seem to recall that I owe you a drink...

Adriel Mistleaf |

Well, Adriel has to survive that long.
I have played a Magus named Varrel in another game and developed my tactic of having the dino SUDDEN SWOOP charge in and Aid another to add a nice +2 to the magus attack rolls.
It's a very under utilised tactic that anyone with a familiar can do, but most wizards don't melee much.
Once I get thrasher a lammelar for him, Thrashers AC will be a decent 20.
....I am unsure if Baldwin will target him.
Most DM's have rarely since an Aid Another Dino does no damage, but we'll see.
I had a trip monkey paladin in my last game whose deal was to greater trip then let the party AOO when he stood up.
Baldwin would usually (wwisely) stay down and suck the -4 to attack and AC. Nobody got AOO's but no one complained about the prone enemy.
I can't wait for the Advanced Class guide. So many good classes.

David "Dirk" Hawkins |

I had a trip monkey paladin in my last game...
Now I want to know if you're using that term like "Skill Monkey" - or if, in fact, your paladin had a Monkey Familiar who's primary job was to run around trip enemies in an effort to aid your paladin.
I feel like that would be awesome; seeing this huge, armored covered paladin striding in against a slavering, slobbering ogre. But then the ogre suddenly collapses to the ground just as your paladin reaches him because somehow a little monkey managed to trip the ogre just in time :)
Damn!
Now I want a monkey!

Daniel Arrisen |

Nice image. I actually DO do that with Ranger twf and wolf companions.
Heck, even wrote a handbook on it.
But no, the paladin had no monkey. He was a two hander with gtr trip and felling smash. Real combat monster.

My philosophy on familiars and companions is if you keep them in the background out of harms way, I don't notice or target them. Once you put them in combat though they become fair game. I hear dino meat is tasty speaking of game.
I rarely ever stand up when tripped no need to take the AOO.

Sath Saltblood |

How much does real- world physics play into your game Baldwin? I had thought of a great one-two combo to use on the totem but not sure if it will be as effective as it would be in RL.
I wanted to have Sath use Storm Burst to saturate the tree with water and then Frigid Touch to freeze the water, causing it to burst, shattering it from the inside out. Would it be worth the effort to try that?

baldwin the merciful |

I'm not going to limit your creativity.
A storm burst does not lethal damage though doesn't it? And the water is on the outside of the totem.
I'm not sure if the combo works the way you envision it. Where does the bursting from inside out come from?
This spell causes your hand to glow with a pale blue radiance.
Your melee touch attack deals 4d6 points of cold damage and causes the target to be staggered for 1 round. If the attack is a critical hit, the target is staggered for 1 minute instead.

Astrianna Sparacello |

Just the frigid touch alone will probably do the job, 4d6 damage is not something anyone wants to mess with.

Sath Saltblood |

Yeah- in winter if you get a rainstorm and then a coldsnap while the trees are still soaked full of water, the moisture inside them freezes and in severe enough cases the trees pretty much explode- happened about ten years back in Stanley Park in Vancouver, BC.

So that was the first major drawn out encounter to get everyones feet wet. I enjoyed running that and it really permitted some good out of character roleplay. Everyone did a fantastic job. I also learned a bit about your characters and their actions which will be good if I ever need to DMPC them. This encounter was actually made for 1st level characters, I added some enhancements to increase the creepiness and difficulty since you all are 4th level characters.
The pace of the game has been great but it will slow down at some point.

Astrianna Sparacello |

I highly enjoyed it! The extra bits of creepiness made it even better, I'm glad you added that. Now I have to get re-adjusted to Astrianna being herself again.

David "Dirk" Hawkins |

Nuts!
I'm hoping the pace maintains - I love it; but I guess we'll see how it goes :)
