I always plan buildings based on outright buying cost. Mainly because I don't want to overwhelm the campaign with a side-venture. I mostly like it as RP fuel. The teams listed are like our major player NPC employees. Gives us various distinct individuals to bounce RP off of aside from each other, as well as books for the DM to work with.

David "Dirk" Hawkins |

Looks good to me.
Again, a lot of this will have to depend on things like location. For example, if we built it away from shore I could see swapping the docks for something like a small plantation style farm, garden or orchard so we could be brewing our own wine/beer/cider (for example). A "Family Label" on the bottle is just an afterthought, though :)
Then there's side points; having a little chapel for a low-level priest/cleric wouldn't be too bad - or a small shrine for a druid. And a possible forge for creating things like armor/arms or that sort of thing while we're off is another possibility, too.
Personally I'd enjoy mapping it out - that's always fun to design the look/feel of it. But that's a long way off, I guess, from where we are now.
Anyway, I'm running a bit late for work, though.
Good luck with what happens today, I'll see you guys later this afternoon :)

Darius Rotarion |

Threw this map together this morning real fast like of the business portion of the previously described rooms. Because like I said, I have a minor obsession with this sort of thing.
Key to Rooms, by Dot Color:
Brown = Lavatory (hehe)
Red = Common Room and Bar
Orange = Shipyard (Artisan's Workshop)
Black = Storage
Pink = Kitchen
Green = Brewery
Yellow = Auditorium (complete with backstage area)
White = Office (and records room)
Blue = Guest Lodging
Wood planks outside = Dock
Obviously, this is just an example, and if we went through with it, I would hope someone with superior map making skills would undertake this, because after I finished this all up, I realized I had nowhere to neatly put our 6 bedrooms. Ha!
Also, some interior furnishings on the map would add a lot to defining what each area was, but I didn't have time for that sadly. Maybe later...

Adriel Mistleaf |

Guys, just me but Adriel is a warrior. Forgive the instructions but if he sees a tactical advantage he will say something. In story this is how we learn to fight together. Feel free to ignore if it is not in your char.
Sawbones has the best AC so he should be in front (not that a ranger is a true tank but we are all lightly armored)
I would have assumed the tank if I had played the inquisitor but Adriel is more a cannon. No armor all attack.

Darius Rotarion |

I'm fine with him being the front line. Darius is all about not getting hit. Eventually, I hope to get me some Mithral Full Plate (doesn't every fighter?) to boost my AC higher.
Actually, my AC is 20 to his 19.

Adriel Mistleaf |

Well I know your AC is higher, but you also wield a reach weapon so I figured you could reach past an ally. You can cover more people, if you are going with an area control build.
Not sure what you are planning for later levels.
I am sure it might not be allowed but a Lore Warden would be a brilliant archetype for a light armored manuvere reach build.

David "Dirk" Hawkins |

Wait - what's going on? I just got home and people are putting me in the front?
Nuts, now I have to check the other thread!
FYI - Darius, I like that map, I'll try to make one myself later tonight.
Speaking of which: I try to find a pic to sort of demonstrate what my character would look like (I put one on his Profile) - but that's just to help me visualize things. Do you all have descriptions of yourself on your profiles? I'm trying to get a good idea of what everyone looks like...
See you all soon.

Adriel Mistleaf |

Well I was inspired by Oberon Martel.
Since I chose to make an Elf character the best movie representation of Adriel would be similar to this
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Bdbp45sEEts
I imagine Adriel looks like that but with Golden skin instead of white. Prince Nuada is awesome
I do like the elves from LOTR but they are a little too human for me.

David "Dirk" Hawkins |

Darius, that’s an interesting image. For some reason I kept trying to marry up your Avatar with what you’d look like. Now I know better :)
Adriel – I’ve seen Hellboy 2; but not that video. It’s excellent; I like the montage as it gives me a better “feel” for your character. Good times! Quick follow-up: by "Golden Skin" do you mean like "metallic" or do you mean golden as in "really tanned"?
I myself have also tried to include songs that attempt to capture my character’s “Feel” as well as an image.
The first song is an instrumental from “Varisia” and his former days as a tracker. The second song is his general mood on a ship when he’s not serving under a formal captain. It’s a little more light-hearted then he’s been so far, but it captures his mood when he’s away from “authorities”.

I'm going to mention this over in the discussion thread about the detect magic and the spellcraft mechanics. These rules often get compressed or brushed over from a mechanics standpoint. This really only becomes an issue when time is a factor.
Detect magic is concentration based.
You detect magical auras. The amount of information revealed depends on how long you study a particular area or subject.
1st Round: Presence or absence of magical auras.
2nd Round: Number of different magical auras and the power of the most potent aura.
3rd Round: The strength and location of each aura. If the items or creatures bearing the auras are in line of sight, you can make Knowledge (arcana) skill checks to determine the school of magic involved in each. (Make one check per aura: DC 15 + spell level, or 15 + 1/2 caster level for a nonspell effect.) If the aura emanates from a magic item, you can attempt to identify its properties (see Spellcraft).
Magical areas, multiple types of magic, or strong local magical emanations may distort or conceal weaker auras.
So it takes three rounds or 18 seconds to gather detailed information. Then in the third round you can attempt to identify the properties via spellcraft.
If you are trying to Determine Properties of Magic Item
Attempting to ascertain the properties of a magic item takes 3 rounds per item to be identified and you must be able to thoroughly examine the object.
So to determine the properties of a magic item actually takes 5 round if you can thoroughly examine the item. I'm simply stating this because it's not as quick and easy as detect magic + spellcraft in RD 1. It takes time (30 seconds) to get the information.

David "Dirk" Hawkins |

Ok, so which of then men do not smoke?
I think that only David and Darius smoke.
I figure it made sense for the character, but that's just me.
Meantime, I read your description - do you have any kind of pic or image to accompany it? Just curious...

Darius Rotarion |

Darius doesn't make a habit of it, but isn't against it. He is a sucker for the "finer things" in life. So a good smoke and good drink he won't pass up. Same with women. Though the only thing of those three he is addicted to is the last. :-P

Adriel Mistleaf |

IRL I have never smoked or drank.
Adriel drinks like a fish and sleeps with anything that moves when not working.
On the job he does neither.
Similar with talking.
Once blades are actually drawn the smack talk begins but he is very quiet when on patrol.

Embrianna |

Ok, i kinda like this one ;)

David "Dirk" Hawkins |

Ok, i kinda like this one ;)
Two things at that image:
1. David will happily give up the smokes. It just gives him something to do when chatting, but no worries - it's all good.
2. Aye Yai Yai, mamacita! That's a very attractive pic indeed! :)

Astrianna Sparacello |

I'll see if I can find a picture later. I'm going to be writing some more notes for myself on rping Astrianna today, so it will be a good warm-up.

Sath Saltblood |

Sath Saltblood |

Sorry all- getting a wicked headache and super agitated, gonna call it a night, dmpc me as needed (if the old woman can/will cast Remove Disease on her and it costs more than Sath's meager 11 GP then Sath will offer a scroll of Water breathing in return for the casting).

Astrianna Sparacello |

Scantly clad Astrianna, gentlemen?
Astrianna gone wild
I love the face on this piece- the large eyes, expressive face, and ferocity are exactly what I imagined. It's supposed to be a half-elf barbarian if anyone is wondering.
She has a hat and wears fitted explorer's clothes and leather armor, of course. She doesn't wear revealing clothes, but instead ones that accentuate her form.
I actually found the picture that goes with my avatar picture on the forms- Paladins
Astrianna would totally wear that armor, except the bodice would be a real breastplate and the boots would not have high heels. Or better yet, magical boots that can switch back and forth from high heels to normal heels. Someone get on that.
Runner up for Astrianna I just love the pouting lips, but the face is too impassive.
Other cool pictures I found:

Very nice!
I think I like the barbarian one the best; but it's hard to say given the gear.
The question is: do you have tattoos?

Astrianna Sparacello |

I feel like Astrianna WOULD have tattoos. I just have to figure out what and where. Thanks for that inspiration.
Have a good flight!

baldwin the merciful |

Since everyone is putting up there pirate, here is a character that I played in Shackles table top game...she died eaten by a shark, but I absolutely enjoyed playing her. I have version of her I'm playing on PBP.
There is detailed description, picture, and family crest. She was LE, which I think is perfect pirate captain alignment. She was an elemental air school wizard.

Look at the pdf of Jasmine Rose that I just posted.

I wrote several short stories about a female courtesan assassin using the same name: Jasmine Rose.

Too bad you didn't take the Trait Varisian Wanderer. It would have been perfect! :)

Astrianna Sparacello |

I like the first picture but see you more like the runner up.
See, I have a terribly hard time deciding between the two. The runner up fits specific aspects, but the other one fits different aspects. Ah, choices. The runner up was my first instinct, perhaps I should just go with it.
Look at the pdf of Jasmine Rose that I just posted
Good writing there, I like the character a lot. I also like that tattoo description. I plan on adding more to Astrianna's description and such in the coming days, this will make fine inspiration.

Unfortunately she's a Taldan, which is critical to her psyche. There aren't many good traits for bards really. There's Charming But trait bonuses do not stack, and I already have Barroom Talespinner
That's why I took Armor Expert so I could be a total badass with a mithral breastplate one day.

I considered that trait, myself, but I felt like if I was going to go that route I'd probably want a higher base Charisma than I chose.
But in the end I think you chose wisely, especially in the long run. It's a very good choice :)

Sath Saltblood |

So, we each received 3000 GP or was it 3000 split 6 ways? I was a tad confused...
For any interested in Sath's reasoning for her 'disguise'. it is laid out in her character history/description.
