Daniel did you get +1 skill points or +1HP for favorite class? can you double check how you have them allocated. I was bit confused on how many skill points you put in each is the first number on your sheet how many ranks you put into the skill?
Looks like you put a rank in linguistic and qualified for infernal
otherwise, you look good to go.
I took hp for my favored bonus.
He gets 2+2(INT)+1(Half Orc alt racial trait:SKILLED)=5 per level.
Don't forget CLASS skills get +3 class bonus at 1st level.
so put 1 rank in Diplomacy and get +3class bonus.
(I just mark them as part of his ranks. I can change the sheet to show the bonus if it makes it easier to read)
SO Diplomacy is written as
Diplomacy11 ranks+3CHA=14
but actually means
Diplomacy8ranks+3class bonus+3CHA=14
I got Common, Orc and One bonus language at char creation (Abyssal- made sense). and one skill point for infernal. I figure pally soldiers with a brain would want to know the language of thier enemies.
I didn't flesh out the background too much but I figure a brother or son of Lord Tilneros had a Pretty Half-Orc Sorcerer girlfriend for a bit. Gets sent to the worldwound by Lord Tilnerous to do his time at the crusade and Lord Tilnerous hopes his relative will forget his embarrassing dalliance. Instead the young pally is killed at the wound by a demon. 9months later she shows up ready to pop and before she can be sent away, goes into labour at the manse and dies in child birth. Lord Tilnerous is embarrased by the incident but IS still and honourable and all thoughts of abandoning the child are flown when he sees the baby looks MOSTLY human and bears an VERY strong resemblence to his dead son/brother whom he loved dearly. An so the baby was kept as an open secret. Named Daniel Arrisen, rather than Tilneros and raised in the house as a Page/squire, by the house swordmaster, for Tilneros and Talbard taught him his letters.
Finally told of his blood relationship by Tilnerous one night when he was of age, he was Presented with his Father's sword and offered the chance to claim his birthright. Do his time at the worldwound and he may return to claim his heritage. Not that Tilnerous didn't want him, but Noble politics meant he would need to do something of note to ever be reguarded as anything more than a bastard among the noble houses.
As of now, only Talbard, the House Tilnerous Swordmaster, the Major Domo and the cook know the truth. Daniel Arrisen's public profile is that of Tilneros's page and second should the lord be called to duel.

Daniel Arrisen |

Sweet. I am not sure how old tilneros is.
I have listed Daniel as 30.
Was it tilneros's son or brother who was daniel's sire?

Daniel Arrisen |

Lucretia- the raven familiar can talk an has +8 to spot (plus your ranks as well) effectively giving you 2 Perception checks.
The pterosaur has an awesome little dive bomb attack that doesn't provoke for delivery of touch spells. And it gives you +2 to initiative.

Daniel Arrisen |

It will be his father's bastard child, so it's a younger half-brother relationship. That will make the ages work out better. Lord Tilernos is in his fifties.
Sorry.
So he is LORD Tilernos half-brother?
Wouldn't Tilneros hate/not like Daniel then? or at least resented his father for cheating on his mum with a half-orc?
Just trying to establish how thier relationship will be.
Also how did Daniel aquire Heaven's Razor ,his +1 Outsider Bane sword? I bought it with WBL but I wanted it to be a family heirloom or something. Certainly a High ranking chelish house could afford more than a couple of magic swords?
Maybe Tilenos has a more powerful weapon which is the REAL family sword?
8000 is chump change for a very wealthy house. It could simply be a commissioned gift from the elder tilernos.

My secret but I will say the halfling and the devils were not working together. There are 3 groups all going for the pit fiends contract:
1. the devil's allies - Eriynes and the bone devil
2. siblings Chammady and Ecarrdian Drovenge, the usurper group of the COT
3. Ilnerk Sivanshin the vampire
There is a 4th group, the loyalist who are COT (the old guard) but they are not seeking the contract per se.
If group 2 or 3 had the contract the Pit fiend would be forced by contract to do things and that would tip the balance of power in the city. Freeing the pit fiend was probably the best scenario, if you were able to do so in the dungeon he may have been agreeable to some concessions...but John was right he's weakened for a few days. Although he still like CR13/14 creature.
The way events played out, I simply moved an the spellcaster outside when the guards were in discussion with you. The scenario had the gaurd conflict incorporated but that was non-challenging.
Had you not approached the middle/North end, or the crater, the devils would not have attacked. The eriynes was content on watching at first hence the teleport every other round. The eriynes tested you by summoning the bearded devils and when you all decided to chase those, the eryines was measuring her foe. It happened that the spellcaster came out and he took the opportunity to split the party in two and they indirectly worked with the devils. The Spellcaster actually used the summoned devils and the eriynes as an opportunity.
Grimm did know the bone devil was there, he saw it when he took flight but nobody put message on him and he did not communicate that the creature was in the crater. When the party got close to the crater and spirals he entered the battle.

Lord Tilernos is good man, he did not fault the boy for his father's indiscretions, just like he doesn't fault his drunken sister for hers. Better that he guide the half-sibling.
Certainly a high level noble family could afford such a weapon but for balance of game power especially with your companions, if you want it you need to buy it. One issue with creating a character from scratch at higher levels is you can build the perfect character, and gear, when compared to say Andrea or John, who did not know what type of things would be fought when they first put their characters together nearly a year ago. You know from playing in the game what the likely encounter will be and your build and gear is slanted towards maximizing that knowledge. This is not a criticism, its an observation and experience with other games.
Edit:
If you want to RP that it is an heirloom we can do that but reduce the gold from your WBL.

Daniel Arrisen |

No worries.
I did mean just roleplay the sword as being an hierloom.
I have already paid for it out of WBL. Wasn't trying to grab the money back. :)
If Tineros and the house is as healthy as I suspect, the 'family' blade, If such a thing existed would likely be carried by the patriach, Tilneros himself, so if you are happy with it, I'll rolplay Heaven's Razor as a commissioned gift from Daniel's older sibling.
Perhap's Grumm even forged it? He is old enough and based on the levels you have given him could have been his finest work.

I have wizard in a tabletop shackles game that has a dodo bird, the thing is pain in arse since it can't fly...I had special backpack made for him to hang out in.
Flotsam!

Exactly but I actually play the same character in a table top version of the game.

baldwin the merciful |

So I have everyone but John at Faelyn's resurrection. I excluded John because of the religion and law, issue. No need to cause a conflict with his class. if Andrea does not want to be present because of her religion that fine, she can hang back at the safehouse or at Talbards shop.
Daniel I have you as and witness to the First Sword Knight of Iomedae miracle.

So what will the group do now? If Baldwin didn't say that Book 4 was done we could try to get the contract back one we get properly prepared or get back into the Spiral Andrea did Sign her name on the contract So she has authority in the SPiral.
Or we can try to do things in the city to help people recover. Such as healing, repairing, patroling.
We could go after the Drovages since they seemed to have a big hand in this mess.
Or go after Ilnerik. Since we have the Morrowfall, we could no doubt easily scry on the other half of the Aohl and find out where he is.(We have a scroll of Scrying from the Wavedoor still and his part of the Aohl would no doubt count as apossession of the entire artifact, plus there are pictures and we have information from Bisby's ghost)

Daniel Arrisen |

Well the pit fiend seems an overarching but unreachable goal for now and completely freeing Westcrown would take a crusade and maybe an army.
We are effectively in sandbox territory now. We should maybe focus on the morrowfall and freeing the night still. That was the overarching mission of the brotherhood from the start.
And we know the devil will not behave like a demon so hopefully no random chaos.
Too early to know what it's planning.

You are correct that freeing the night is the overarching goal, freeing Westcrown would no doubt mean having to get entire countries on our side and is no doubt a mythic level endeavor.
So Ilnerik seems a good thing to focus on as the major conflict.

Daniel Arrisen |

sometimes the time difference really sucks. Ready to do heaps of posting but no one is one.
BTW guys. I am REALLY feeling the game.
Big thanks to Baldwin for not killing us all.
The past few days building build after build looking for a new char taught me.
1. I hate doubling up on a class (IE playing a ranger when there is already one in the party. That's why no HUNTSMAN, sorry Lucrezia)
2. I love magic way too much to play fighters/cavaliers very often.
We already had John and my two weapon warrior and OOTShield cavalier builds are strong but see reason 1 and full melee is john's bag. He is RPíng well to considering the restrictions placed on Hellknights.
3. I have a MAJOR man crush on the War (Tactics) subdomain. It's that good.
5. 1hand+Shield chars do not suck despite the char op boards saying otherwise.
6. I am making a long list beacause I have had too much coffee and am bored!

I've incorporated quite a bit of sandbox into the AP previously but it's safe to say that you are joyfully in sandbox now. I've several alternative scenario's planned depending on which way you want to head. I'm going to throw out options/leads for you guys to choose from. Many are making the streets safe and secure again building up the heroes fame.
I will get the critical information that you were meant to discover in through other means, so that won't be an issue. I will also conclude one of the side quests that has been brewing for months - Alphonse Lourou - so that will bring another arch to a hopefully satisfying conclusion. Resolving some of the mysterious deaths that occurred is also an option. Andrea to you have an update list of the quests that you were tracking that you can post?
As far as venturing into the mayor's residence, that probably is not the way to go given it's new free resident.
The Morrowfell/Vampire is Book 5
The final battle with the COT is Book 6.

Andrea1 |

1. Investigate the Nessian Spiral FAILED!
2. Locate the missing nobles. Status in doubt
3. Henri Stoutpour perhaps your time has come
4. Make streets safer with the Lanterbearers. Ongoing
5. Orsin has a farewell opera to do.
6. Locate Ilnerik and end the Shadowcurse
Perhaps Alphonse can just stew in his juices. He is clearly a flunky of the COT and if I take over the Grotto I'd just be becoming part of the problem. Far better to buy away Tracy,Pearl and the others and open a new temple/brothel that gets women and men free if they are slaves and if they want, into a new life. Then Alphonse can sit in his failing brothel and eventually shut down and have nothing.
Somethimes having to live is the cruelest punishment.

I'm running the first session of Legacy of Fire for my group tonight and cooking a themed Middle-Eastern meal for it as well, so I will most likely be offline from now til tomorrow.
