Male Human Ranger 7/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 5/Fighter 1

Whoa! I did set myself up to be the lightning rod here, but this is getting ridiculous. Good thing I have excellent saves, especially for a martial type. Will save 10+8=18.

Male Human Ranger 7/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 5/Fighter 1

"Time to meet your god, scum!" Janosz charges down the stair.

Move to BT 8 before shooting Student 8 in the back, using Manyshot, Point Blank Shot and, should it matter, Clustered Shots.
Attack roll 9+19+4(favoured enemy)+1(PBS)=AC 33, damage 2d8+6+8(favoured enemy)+2(PBS)=23 + 9 fire + 4 electricity.

Gelb is next.

You shot S8 last time - I'll assume you mean S4.

Janosz shoots down another student.

Gelb writhes in agony and vomits his lunch as the pain spell takes effect with the nausea from the cloud.

Standard and Move actions: nil.

Janosz does keep yelling about how he's going to kill them all, and then following through on it. What do you expect?

Male Human Ranger 7/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 5/Fighter 1

Hey, all I want is to kill them and take their stuff. Why do they have to make such a fuss about it? ;P

The lecturer casts another spell, desparately trying to neutralise the yelling tattoed lunatic with the bow. As he turns his gaze upon the Shadowmarcher waves of horrifying energy burst from his eyes.

Casting Eyebite, and attacking Janosz. Fort save DC 24 or Janosz is Sickened for 110 minutes.

The nearby student throws at bomb at Janosz for good measure.

Student 5 throws a bomb at Janosz. 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 v Janosz's touch AC, damage 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 3, 2) + 4 = 11 on a direct hit, or 3 damage on a miss. If he's hit, Janosz also catches fire and burns for an additional 1d6 damage per turn until he extinguishes himself.

That's a hit. Fort save 2+12=14 - not so much. So I'm nauseated and on fire.

"Urk... I don't... GAAAAAAAHHH!"

Male Human Ranger 7/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 5/Fighter 1

Aubrey - can Runzyl charge the Lecturer on his turn? I was thinking of having him run down the stairs and leap over the slab; does the lecture-hall benches interfere with this?

Male Kalashtar Psychic Warrior 6 / War Mind 5

Nevharath will use the Run action to move to AK10 as a full-round.

Runzyl

Runzyl can charge. Getting over the slab will require an Acrobatics check.

Yessss! *fist pump*

With a savage warcry, Runzyl charges the priests hiding behind the slab.

Charge to BV 10 before attacking the Lecturer. Acrobatics check 11+22=33 lets him take off from BQ 10 and still land safely on the table. Attack roll 10+23+2(charge)+2(Earthbound gauntlets)=AC 37, damage 1d6+14+2(earthbound gauntlets)=20. Attack is slashing and magical and ignores DR up to and including DR/Adamantine.

Gil!

Runzyl has just run into the range of the Symbol of Pain. Actually, so has Rod. DC 23 Fort saves from both, please. The effect of the Symbol won't immediately effect the outcomes of either's actions.

In his inimitable style, Runzyl vaults the seating and over the slab to cut the lecturer a grievous wound across the face.

Gil, then Ez, then Rod.

Gil runs back toward the ongoing battle, keeping pace with the kalashtar. AK11

Janosz and Runzyl are in the way of Ezreal blasting the remaining priests, and he shouldn't try to get through the web. So - can he prepare an action to zap the first one who tries to bolt for the door with a Storm bolt? If not, he just delays.

Rodergo.

He certainly can.

Rod.

m ROD! CLERIC 6 EXORCIST SLVR FLAME 5exp =125,535(cast as a 9th level cleric)

Move to BP 10 heal again; 5d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 5, 3, 3) = 17

everybody but Ez and the two gremlin chasers.

Male Human Ranger 7/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 5/Fighter 1

Rod needs to save versus the symbol. For the others, it might make sense to stay back a bit.

m ROD! CLERIC 6 EXORCIST SLVR FLAME 5exp =125,535(cast as a 9th level cleric)

1d20 ⇒ 14 plus a hero point;
2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) = 7

so 14+6+10=got it.

The student steps back and casts a lightning spell.

5' step out of Runzyl's reach, then Lightning Bolt, catching both Runzyl and Gelb. 6d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 4, 6, 4) = 23 damage, DC 17 Reflex save for half.

Janosz, then Gelb.

Map updated.

Male Human Ranger 7/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 5/Fighter 1

Janosz grits his teeth, determined to finish off the enemy leader before he can cast another powerful formula.

First I take 1d6=6 points of fire damage. I then take a 5' step to BU 7 before opening up on the Lecturer. I'm using Manyshot, Rapid Shot and, should it matter, Clustered Shots. If he falls, I switch to Student 1.
Attack 1: 9+19+4(favoured enemy)+1(PBS)-2(sickened)=AC 31, damage 2d8+6+8(favoured enemy)+2(PBS)-2(sickened)=21 + 8 fire + 8 electricity.
Attack 2: 10+19+4+1-2=AC 32, damage 1d8+3+4+1-2=13 + 4 fire + 1 electricity.
Attack 3: 10+14+4+1-2=AC 27, damage 1d8+3+4+1-2=10 + 5 fire + 3 electricity.
Attack 4: 13+9+4+1-2=AC 25, damage 1d8+3+4+1-2=10 + 3 fire + 5 electricity.

Gelb.

Runzyl's Reflex save versus the lightning bolt 8+12=20, so he takes 12 points of damage.

Even sickened by the effects of the necromancer's spell, Janosz is able to mow down the lecturer and a student.

Lecturer and student 1 down. Map updated. Gelb.

Still sickened and under pain, the rogue, nevertheless, manages to dodge the lightning bolt.

Ref save: 1d20 + 17 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 17 - 2 = 33.
No damage due to evasion.

Standard and Move: nil.

Student 5

The last student seems determined to go out with a bang. He swigs a formula, steps to one side to make sure he is in range of both Runzyl and Janosz, and then breathes out a gout of flame.

Fire Breath, catches Runzyl and Janosz, 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 6, 6) = 16 fire damage, Reflex save DC 16 for half.

Male Kalashtar Psychic Warrior 6 / War Mind 5

another 80 ft full-round run for Nevharath

My fault - I was an idiot last turn. I should have targeted Student 5 instead of Student 1, and now we're soaking up one more round of attacks. Sorry, Rod.

Janosz sidesteps the worst of the fiery blast.

Reflex save 5+17=22, so I take half damage.

Reflex save 9+13=22; he takes half damage.

Runzyl closes in on the final student, blades spinning.

5' step to BW 9, then turning on the food processor.
Attack 1: 8+25=AC 33, damage 1d6+13=18.
Attack 2: 11+20=AC 31, damage 1d6+13=15.
Attack 3: 9+15=AC 24, damage 1d6+13=18.
Attack 4: 9+25=AC 34, damage 1d6+9=13.
Attack 5: 15!+20=AC 35, confirm roll 11+20=AC 31, damage 1d6+9=13x2=26.

Runzyl kills the final student.

End of combat. 3,520xp each.

Male Human Ranger 7/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 5/Fighter 1

"Ungh... Everybody stay the hell back. Do not approach the slab or the blackboard. Runzyl and I will wipe away the magical glyph first."

"Ez, how do we do that? Wipe it with a wet rag?"

"It will need to be dispelled to destroy it, but if you slide the other blackboard back over it it will obscure it and prevent it from working," replies the Karrn.

Male Human Ranger 7/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 5/Fighter 1

Janosz pulls the covering blackboard back into place. "That's a hell of a way to discipline your students."

That was brutal. After Rod's two channelings, I'm down 30 hp, Runzyl is down 20 and Ezreal is down 6 (he didn't save versus Horrid wilting.

Nevharath finally makes it back to the room, surveying the carnage as he recovers his breath.

"It's hard to tell if he's running for help or just running. Hopefully we put a scare in him and he's not stopping to tell anyone anytime soon." She surveys the room. "With all the screaming, I knew it must be bad, but... this is worse than a war zone. Is everyone OK?"

Male Human Ranger 7/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 5/Fighter 1

"I've had better days." Janosz' hair and clothing is scorched, his beard is matted with burnt blood and vomit, and he is walking unsteadily. "They had powerful magic. Not that it saved them, though."

Time for a quick once-over of the dead guys, methinks. We shouldn't dawdle, though, in case the last pukwudgie is getting gelp.

I'll stick up a list tomorrow - I'll assume someone will throw down a Detect Magic.

79/79 hp, 0 nonlethal; Effects: ; Perception +16, vs traps +20; Guise: Non-descript male gambler

Gil will do so and she will aid in the search, including the lectern and areas where the lecturer might stash his stuff while he's here.

As Gil casts her cantrip and looks about her, the room lights up with multiple - albeit, mostly fairly weak - magical auras.

Since you're in a hurry I'll just give you the magic stuff rather than the masterwork. I'll break it down by student type (class), more for my record-keeping benefit than yours.
Students 1 and 2: two cloaks, two scrolls, two spellbooks
Students 3 and 4: two breastplates, two scrolls
Students 5 and 6: two sets of studded leather, two formula books, four potions
Students 7 and 8: two sets of bracers, six potions
Lecturer: cloak, headband, ring, robe, scroll, spellbook

On the xp thing, go with the highest total. PbP is slow enough that leveling is pretty rare, so let's not make it too much of an attritional thing.

Alright, my conquering heroes, what now?

79/79 hp, 0 nonlethal; Effects: ; Perception +16, vs traps +20; Guise: Non-descript male gambler

In her scan, Gil will compare relative strength of auras to those known items carried by the party just to get an idea of their usefulness. No time to identify them right now.

"I see magic on that, and that. This is magical, as is this. Do you think we should put them in the portable hole? The items, not the wearers - and should we bring the powered armor out?"

As she goes, she pulls off items and sets them aside if it can be done easily, indicating the items that require more effort for someone else to deal with, like the breastplates.

Male Kalashtar Psychic Warrior 6 / War Mind 5

Nevharath thinks to himself for a moment.

"Do we have anything that belonged to our fleeing foe? If so, may I examine it?"

There were some ledgers back in the library in which he was writing.

Male Kalashtar Psychic Warrior 6 / War Mind 5

Remembering the ledgers, Nevharath sets off to retrieve them.

"I'll be right back, going to grab the books he was writing in."

He heads in that direction, but is careful, knowing an ambush could happen at any moment.

You find the ledger on the desk in the library.
