Shiny, thanks. I'm thinking Swashbuckler 3/Paladin of Freedom 2 or 3 so the multiclass XP penalties shouldn't be a problem.
I'll ask around and see if anyone in my group is interested. TwiceBorn's firend should get priority, since almost everyone in my group is already in a PbP.

Cool. If not I'll ask around on the boards, see if Beeler or Shiny or Vattnisse or someone is interested. To be honest I kinda prefer someone who is already in a pbp here, so I can get a feel for if they're likely to be able to keep up the regular posting or not.

Mothman, If you want, I'll drop a note to French Wolf. He seems to be looking for as many games to play as possible. He is currently running The Splintered Isles , and I have played with him in several games. I believe he would definitely be a good fit.
Cheers,

Go with your preferences (or French Wolf) first, Mothman. If they all pass, I'll extend another invitation to my friend...

Serendipity plus a little help from your friends. Posting daily isn't a problem. Part of the reason for my joining all these games is because they have a high casuality rate in the first few months and I doubt that applies to the Age of Darkness.
OK - I would dearly like to play in this game and I shall simply drop out of Ashendel's which is at the set up stage and he has plenty of reserves.
Let me know what you guys want and I'll fill in.
It may take a few days to sort a PC because I have a hectic week.
Cheers

DM how do you feel about me playing a generic warrior?

DM
To forestall one question, I have a lot of the dungeon mags and dip into them for my home DMing however generally I stick to the later stuff 114+ (the rest is in my garage). Plus I have a useless memory for each adventure.
My dice rolls for stats are in order; 14, 12, 8, 13, 17, 10.

All sounds quite good French Wolf – glad to have you on board. It will probably be a few weeks before I can slot you into the game, but yeah, I think all the players are into this one, I don’t think its going anywhere.
I’m fine with the generic warrior class; those dice rolls look fine also.
However, in all likelihood you will need to disguise your appearance in order to function in certain settings.

Mothman with the timescale of weeks, I'll take my time over this one, plus scanning some of the other PC background info I have alot to live up to.
Would my PC be level 2? I can start level 1, if you prefer.
Actaris, thanks for the welcome. Same goes for Utak, I appreciate the invite. I'll do my best.
As for Twiceborn - I don't tend to repeat characters, there is too much choice out there but who knows.
Cheers

Looks good so far man, though I've only had a quick scan. Start at level 2 for now - depending on exactly when we bring you in and the level of the other PCs at that time we may bump you up to 3, but aim for 2 for now.
I'll get back to you on starting gold - it may not be as much as a standard 2nd level character, as the other PCs are currently behind the curve as far as wealth/level.

There is no need to rush on my behalf, Ash. I do appreciate the sentiment, especially when I've a gorgeous character to play.
DM Mothman - Pharris is just a rough draft and so I wouldn't pay too much attention to her, but I wanted to get the ideas down (that coincidentally sprang from your initial spoiler).

This game / story arc has been running since about April or May ... the guys are probably eager to wrap it up and move onto the next adventure!

Still enjoying it! Feels like an ongoing story rather than a number of separate adventures. It's great - nice work Mothman!

Fine. I have included a masterwork weapon and armour in the combat stats but I did wonder just what was happening with their treasure. Guess they are too?
Easy come, easy go.
Cheers
P.S. I'd like to keep the feather boa though.

You can probably swing enough cash for a masterwork weapon and armour ... and a feather boa.

Re XP, yes, I think you will probably all still be 2nd level, probably not too far off third for most of you.
Likely most or all of the party will level quite soon. If everyone is at 3rd when we're ready to start the next adventure (hopefully in a couple of weeks!) I'll get French Wolf's character to start at 3rd as well. French Wolf, starting gold will be 900gp whether 2nd or 3rd level, that should put you roughly in line with the other guys.
Does everyone still think they'll want to continue this game into the next adventure? I hope so, but I perfectly understand if not ... I think 5 players is a good number, so if anyone doesn't think they'll continue I want to recruit soon.

However I realised as I mulled over this that you probably have already thought about elves in your world and especially the relationship with teh fey. So I've left it until you were nearer an entry point.
Let me know your thoughts, please.
I shall move her to third level and spend the 900gp, probably tomorrow evening UK time.
Cheers

Yeah, I'm definitely still in, although a break of a week or two might not be a bad idea either, just to let everyone recharge their batteries...

That's probably a good idea. In game I will probably advance the timeline by a couple of weeks too.

Hey Everyone:
After this story arc, I am going to have to retire Kajetan. It has been loads of fun, but I just took on a new project at work that will be starting in about a month. I truly believe that this will take a big chunk of my time for about the next 6 months. Trust me, I would rather stay and play, but this is a good opportunity for me that I have been working hard for. My concern is a month or two from now, I'm focused on my work, and Kajetan becomes another NPC. That wouldn't be fair to any of you.
I do plan on playing out this story arc before Kajetan says his farewell, so I'm not going anywhere yet. Sorry again, and I hope there are no hard feelings, I believe what I am doing is best not just for me but also for the game.
Mothman, you are running an excellent game. I enjoy your writing, your skills as DM, and your encounters. You truly are top of the line, so please do not take my leaving as any reflection on the game.
FYI: Beren will be saying his farewell after the battle with the Mind Flayer also.
Well, until the end of the story arc, see ya in the 'Gaming Thread'.

Arctaris |

Yeah, I'm in as long as you're willing to DM (RL constraints allowing).
Sorry to see you go Utak, its been fun (short but fun). Perhaps we'll get to game again sometime.
I might not be able to post much this weekend, as we'll probably be visiting some cousins.

No worries, man. Sorry to see you go. First Erian's Glen, now this. You had a great character, but hey, everyone understands -- we all have our priorities in life. Good luck with (and congratulations for) your new projects... glad you still have a few weeks of participation left, though.
And I second your accolades for Mothman...

French Wolf:
Having said that, the elves of this campaign are probably a little more ‘fey’ than is typical. They mostly live in Faerie, and their motivations and actions can seem somewhat alien to humans. Elves mix with fey quite often, though they don’t necessarily trust them.
I’ve had two players play elves in this campaign setting over the years, and both kind of played their characters with kind of a grim edge to them; that was cool, but I also wouldn’t mind seeing an elf with a more innocent or carefree side. (Of the two, one was on a mission from the Ban of the Moon – an important elven noblewoman – to observe and report on the human world, and very much played the silent observer. The other was banished from Faerie for breaking a pact and killing a thoroughly evil and reprehensible ambassador from the Unseelie Court – and was on the run).
Family seems important to your character. I like that aspect, and I’d play with that. To my mind, elves tend to be extremely loyal to family and friends, less so to organizations and power structures. Elves tend to be fairly flexible and abstract when it comes to things like government and rank. A Bladesinger type would tend to be a bit of a free agent, wandering around righting wrongs as she sees fit, rather than assigned to a particular role or location. In that way, taking the sort of “questing paladin” approach – without all the lawful stuff – could be quite appropriate. Having said that, it is quite possible that you are on a specific mission, given by a respected or powerful member of the Court … just that it would be fairly flexible in how you achieve that mission.

Just finished DMing "Valley of the Snails" for my group. Being able to draw on my experiences in this PbP definitely came in handy at times!
Good stuff, how did it go? I guess now you can go back and find that enormous treasure hoard that you guys missed the first time round... ;-)
How did your group far against the quasit? As you may have noticed, I gave him a class level or two against you guys ... That may have been overkill, a those guys are tough for their CR against a low level party.

Bummer to see you go - Kajetan is an interesting character and would have become a valuable member of the party. Just as long as he doesn't decide to head back to Lorin to spread the word of Arton after his discussion with Vorn!!

Given that my players and I don't get to play very often and therefore aren't that experienced with the 3.5 rules, I didn't bother beefing up the quasit (my players usually roll as badly IRL as I do in PbP, so no need to make things too hard!). Also, I play with Vitality and Wound points from Unearthed Arcana instead of hit points, so that effectively beefs up all the enemies significantly, and the party consists entirely of warrior classes (no spell casters!)... so again, I felt it was safer not to overdo it. And to be perfectly honest, between the goblins, giant rats, and Herruk's summoned creatures, I kind of forgot about the quasit's spell casting abilities during the combat... the players never fought him, but were quite startled when the spider transformed into a little demon and flew away when they downed Herruk... yes, a supernatural enemy will be stalking them when they least expect it (with spells at the ready).
Everyone had fun, and they don't know what I missed/forgot about, so no big deal... and the Critical Hit deck was a hoot to play with.
