My posting time is going to drop rather drastically until the 15th of November. My father, who was stuck in a very unpleasant management position, got a DWAI in August and just got this little anklet thing that keeps track of his movements so he doesn't deviate from a set schedule. Unfortunately the box that goes with this doohcky has to be plugged into the phone. Since we are on dial-up we don't have internet access for a whole f$+@ing month. Fortunately a friend who lives a couple of miles down the road will let us use his internet. I should be able to post on Fridays (mostly in the evening), sometimes Thursdays, and maybe a few othr days for a little while. I'm really enjoying the campaign so far and would like to continue but if you don't want to have such an unreliable player for a month I will completley understand if you want to replace me. I'd prefer to keep my slot but I'd understand. And yes, I'm pretty pissed at him.

Hey TwiceBorn,
I am toying with the idea of restarting Erian's Glen. My work is less demanding than I was originally predicting and feel that I will have enough time to devote to running a game. Any interest in reviving the good Shepherd Veirax?
Just let me know. Thanks.
Cheers

Sure. I replied in the Erian's Glen discussion thread. I may not be able to post as frequently as I used to, though. Thanks for the heads up.

Hey man, that's no good - well doesnt sound good anyway ... excuse my ignorance, but what's an DWAI? ... (my guess is driving with alcholic influence??)
Nah, don't sweat it, you're still in the game.
Thanks, I'd really hate to leave this group.

Alright guys, I'm back.
I've made a couple of posts for Utak in the "meanwhile" thread - Utak, apologies that they're fairly long, and they make some assumptions about what Kajetan is doing ... but I want to get you back up to the same time frame as the other guys.
Twiceborn, Arctaris, Ash, thanks for your patience, I should have a post up for you guys in the next hour or so.
I haven't heard from Vendle, so the stuff for Utak assumes that Troy is not with him.

Hey Mothman,
That was one great read, I wish I had time to respond at the moment, but I am off to work. Can't wait to get home and engage in this story that you set up. Great Work!
Cheers
PS: I hope your outline is going well.

Mothman... how's the next stage of your Paizo module proposal coming along?
Good, thanks for asking, I was just doing some minor edits on it right now. I've largely finished, probably got another 500-600 words to go, then some edits, proof reads, spell checks etc. I'll hopefully get it finished today or tomorrow and send it off tomorrow night (it's due on November 1 ... hmmm, maybe I should hold off and see if some last minute Halloween inspiration hits me!)
I don't know how it'll stack up against the other 11 proposals ... we'll see.

Cool... too bad we can't playtest it with you! Good luck! I look forward to seeing you join the ranks of Logue, Pett and Jacobs! ;-)

Sorry guys, no chance to study the battle grid description and post to the in-game thread, I've had a long work day and must still make some preps for a workshop I'm facilitating tomorrow morning... I'll definitely post tomorrow night.
Thanks for your patience... if necessary, Mothman can move me along 'til then...

I haven’t heard from Vendle. Whether he’s no longer interested in the game, simply unavailable, or time poor I’m not sure. Either way, it’s cool – and if you’re still around Vendle, feel free to give us a shout out and let us know things are ok.
As for another player – personally, I like the 5 player team (that’s the magic number of players IMO), so I’d be happy to put another player on. But not right now.
For starters, I am currently running Yruch and Jarred as npcs (until they reach a point where they can part ways with you – or get killed), and as you will hopefully meet up with Utak’s character soon, that will bring the group to 6.
Also, we are nearing the end of this story arc – I think we will probably finish up by the end of the year or (perhaps more likely) early in the new year. After that, I’ve got the next adventure I want to run, and I’m hoping you guys will be able to stick around and play it with me. At that point I’ll likely be recruiting a new character – I think it’s probably better to start at that sort of point.
Arctaris, I know Twiceborn also mentioned someone he knows he might be interested in joining the game, so I’ll probably put it out to both you guys again at that point. Out of interest, is your person someone who’s currently on the boards?

What should we do here?
We could take his offer at peace at face value, and either hope they do not recognise Laithe, or else have him hide in Gosia's hole and hope they don't think to look there. However, as I think we left it uncovered, they may now know that it is there and will not leave it unchecked.
We also face the problem that if and when the wounded man awakes, he is likely to do his best to confirm there reports of a killer wolf man!!
I also don't fancy the idea of paying a price for troops we've killed when we were attacked by them, without talk or provocation.
And on a character level, I'm not sure Laithe is particularly keen to stand by and let the leader go, although he also is keen not to have others come under threat on behalf of him. So if we want to try the non-combat option he will play along.
I'm somewhat inclined to play hardball to a degree - make it known that we are not happy about being attacked unprovoked and all we wish to do is retire to the hut to rest the night. Laithe can hide out in the hole and if they want to search the hut they are welcome. At least we will be inside and all present should they attack, which may take away some of their advantage of no doubt having archers set up and ready to attack. What do you all think? Other plans/ideas?

Sounds good to me... Should I also mention that we are on a mission at the behest of Inquisitor Vorn (searching for the dark creatures ultimately responsible for planning the abduction of the young girls in the area), that we have been ordered to keep our business to ourselves, and that we wish to keep our own company in the cottage?
Or would that be saying too much, which might not only further arouse his curiosity?

You're right, I think we left the trapdoor uncovered (that was my plan as well). Your plan sounds good to me. Alton has no particular quarrel with these people, although he doesn't like them much. He'll play along with whatever Keildrithe and Laithe come up with (unless he thinks it is suicidal or something). It's unlikely but we might be able to convince the priest of Arton to pay for the men we killed, since they're his men, we're on a mission for him, and they attacked without provocation.

TwiceBorn |

Our biggest problem is what to do with the unconscious man... once he wakes up, we're screwed! Unless we allow Atrek and his men to share a fire and a meal in our company, and when the man wakes up to find us having an amiable chat with his boss, perhaps he'll be so bewildered that he'll hold his tongue... probably wishful thinking... alternately, Keildrithe could worm his way into Atrek's confidence, lower their guard with his fascinate ability and perhaps a few spells as the evening goes on, and then find a way to incapacitate them before the other guy wakes up... hopefully Yruch can help us maintain a credible facade! We lock them all down in the cellar, and off to Barg we go... ;-)
Do you guys think this is feasible?

Yep, agreed with the unconscious man, which is why I thought perhaps we should not take them up on their offer of sharing a fire. (I guess bare in mind too that someone with the heal skill would probably be able to tell his wound was not inflicted with a blade). Ultimately I think we must bare in mind that Atrek works for the Vorn and he likely knows exactly who we are and is unlikely to let us leave.
So if we tell them we are just interested in rest, and invite them into the hut to search it if they feel that way inclined, we can potentially bring the fight onto our own terms. If they do find Laithe in the hide hole and attack, then we hopefully gain cover from their archers and force them to come to us. If they do not, then it will force Atrek to make a move against us without solid evidence, which his men may or may not be interested in.
I'm a bit hesitant to join them around the folder, cause that will involve us coming out into the open and giving them a chance to make a move with the likely advantage of numbers.
But, ultimately Keildrithe is the one calling the shots at the moment, and he should follow both his character and instincts - Laithe will follow as needed.

Arctaris |

I think I still have the potion of Spider Climb so I could hide on the ceiling above the loft and provide cover fire. Then After a few shots I could climb down the wall and enter melee. Mostly I'll follow Keildrithe's lead.
I think that hiding Laithe might be the best thing to do. Maybe he could have a readied action to attack any enemy who opens the trapdoor (which I'm remembering being quite heavy)?

TwiceBorn |

Worse comes to worse, Laithe could hold the unconscious man hostage. I'm not sure to what extent Atrek actually cares for his men, but...???
The only thing I'm not crazy about in all of this is Laithe being in the hole, where not only do Atrek and his men hold the higher ground, but they could slam the trap door on him and reduce our party by one important combatant.
What if Alton handed the potion of spider climb to Laithe, and the druid used it to sneak out the back door and onto the roof of the cottage, coming back down to surprise the enemies from behind if need be?
Or perhaps Laithe should just run out the back door (perhaps in animal form?) and hide in the woods for a while?
As for the unconscious man... yeah, he's got a good bump on the head. I'm not too concerned about our enemies noticing that... it could have happened in battle. Of course, the throat wound might be a little more tricky... Alton, do we have any more blue mushrooms? That might keep him passed out a while longer.
Right now, I'm leaning towards inviting Atrek and a few of his men into the cottage (perhaps recommending that he keep a few outside to keep an eye out for the "queer things" that roam the woods)... and the cottage has only so many five foot squares for combatants to occupy at once, so that might aid us... So Laithe, Alton, whatever you choose to do, do it soon, cos I may be bringing some bad company home!
Sorry for the long pause, DM!

Well, really no one has offered their opinion since the bard stepped out the door to chat – all this discussion is happening out of character, and it may not be easy for those inside to communicate with Keildrithe without it being noticed by Atrek.
The atmosphere inside the hut is quite tense; Alton carefully watches through the window, ready to fire his bow at a moments notice. Laithe is looking frantically around for a place to hide, whilst trying to decide whether he even wants to hide. Jarred holds the unconscious man, awaiting the word to bring him out (or slit his throat if needs be). Yruch stands ready, but apparently deep in prayer.

Going away Twiceborn?
Ash is also going to be on holidays from today until some time in mid december - I'm not sure if he'll have any internet access while he's away, but I doubt it. Things might slow down a bit as a result, but we'll see how it goes. I'll try to clarify with him whether he'll have any access and decide what to do from there.
And Utak - jump in at any time that feels appropriate to you!

Friday night I'll be attending my girlfriend's work Christmas party, then I'm off to Vancouver for a few days for a change of scenery and to catch Tori Amos in concert... I so long to see the west coast again...

![]() |

Hey guys,
Sorry, I'm swamped at work and doing alot of OT, so won't be able to post until Saturday afternoon... sorry for the inconvenience!
That's alright, I understand work pressures. With Ash away as well, I'd rather have things on hold until at least one of you is available.
Arctaris and Utak, thanks for your patience, I know you've been around and probably ready to go. I haven't forgotten about the game, and I'm eager to get going again once twiceborn and/or ash is back.

TwiceBorn |

Hey guys, just an early heads-up. I will be on holidays from the 22nd of December through to the 6th of January. My internet access and ability to post will be fairly limited during that period.
The 6th of January! You lucky bugger! I was planning on doing that, but my boss got first dibs and started her holidays on December 9... and won't be back until January 14! So I'm alone to hold the fort...
I got a post in this evening (sorry for the long delay), but I'll still be unpredictable in my posting until December 26. I've been working crazy long hours, and as a result, my immune system has weakened and I've come down with the annual "Xmas affliction" (having clients hacking up lungs in my office all day long doesn't help, either)... But if there's a bright side to it, it's that it's hitting me before the holidays start, so I won't have to waste them in bed!
The DM should feel free to NPC me, as required...
Thanks for your patience!
Cheers!

Tori Amos! Excellent. I don't have the latest album as yet, any good?
Forgot to answer this... Yes, I'd say the new album is quite good. As usual, the songs range from brilliant to... mildly annoying. Good concert, though, even better than last time I saw her... Having a full band lent greater intensity to the show.

No problem man, I understand – hope you’re feeling better by Christmas! We’ll see how we go for a week or so, and then my postings going to get spotty over the break – I’ll post when I can, so check in on the thread if you have a chance, but I probably won’t have very regular net access.
Heh, brilliant to mildly annoying … that kind of sums it up doesn’t it?

TwiceBorn |

Yep... when she gets a little too screechy or overly breathy, or puts a little too much rock'n'roll in her tunes, I get a little annoyed. I understand the artistic reasons for doing so, but...

Hi all, I'm back in and able to post. Apologies about the absence, and the lack of a proper note to let you know I won't be about. I had planned to post, but got tied up with work and getting final things for the wedding finished and so forgot to.
Anyway, understand things will probably be slow over Christmas anyway but just thought I'd let you know I'm back.
