But I do agree that having a half doing nothing while the others attempt to rescue them may be frustrating... Or you would have to GM 2 separate groups - one captured and one free...

Here's a question: Assuming that Ama makes level 2 (and goes monk) She already has Improved Unarmed Strike. Would it be alright to graduate it into Weapon Focus(or)Finesse: Unarmed Strike?

Cantrips are 5gp to scribe. The elf wizard has all of them.
Debating going Paladin instead of Monk. Less the "Inner Peace" and more "This is my code(to keep be from slaughtering you all)", since she's(and he) are still pretty angry. Any (OOC) objections to having a Paladin?

ah, the cantrips. then I'd like to go ahead and get my last chance in to scribe ray of frost, prestidigitation, detect magic for 15g total. Add the 40g for shield, magic missile, prot from evil, and grease. guess I should also get a few days of rations and a traveler's outfit. that makes a total of 58g spent for me, I should be alright, just hoping I don't fail too many spellcasts without that ring.
And sure, go pally. I find the paladin's code to be less restrictive than some may think, people just interpret it wrong, lol. Always good to see someone step up to the plate and play one once in awhile.
Paladins are a ton of fun in the right hands. Sounds yours might be more "The Punisher" then "holier-than-thou" so its all good.

I was a paladin in my first-ever PBP. I thought I did pretty well with him; Ping and Tribute may remember Fearghus. At least his vernacular, anyway. What's funny, though, is that Strang is going for "The Punisher" .
I'll try to get a more complete shopping list done this evening. My brother and his wife are visiting from Alaska for another few days, so no promises.
No issues against Paladins over here - whatever meets your fancy m8 - FUN is the name of the game.

New Rules of Engagement:
24 hours between posts in combat during the weekday, and I will either delay you or DMPC you if you give notice.
If the 24 hours takes us into the weekend, I will probably wait until Sunday night to catch the action up. I know the weekend is hard for some.
Note: Others have been very irate when I post actions or other players try to give action for their characters. I have learned that running another player's character is like driving someone's prized sports car. You will probably not do it how they would do it, and often they will be unhappy about it.
You have my permission to roll any reflexive reactions (saves, checks, etc) if they would be reactive and waiting for me to post a single roll will delay the game.
It's getting on to the end of semester here, so time is becoming more and more limited, especially with work and the holidays. If I post, I'll post Late/Early EST.

true, DMPCing, or side seat RPing, is never ideal. but When just dropping the character makes the game implausible, and other alternatives fail, I still prefer it to the breakup of the game. I agree on this one: if I am (mysteriously) absent beyond the practical duration, take appropriate action and keep this party wagon rollin.
From my part, posting every 24 hours is not an issue, unless something dramatic comes up :D
No one likes to have their character played by something else, but in my home games we usually have a sort of rule that if someone is not able to play, they will select one of the other players to play their character - both as a GM and as a player I prefer this method - as a GM it frees me up to not having to make meta gaming decisions, as a player it allows me to try someone else's character, many times a totally different one, which can be very interesting. Of course in PbP this is not possible, mainly because you are never sure if the other person will show up or not :D (unless specifically stated).
That said, GM feel free to NPC my character if it is halting the flow of things.

Halfway to level two with that encounter. Did not have to beef that one up. Monks were a lot whimpier in AD&D though I see little pathfinder love for them on the boards!

We're lucky they failed those saves. +7 and +9 to Will saves? 50/50 at best. But that's what being heroes (or murderous hobos) is all about!
