But Sakitu is another Kitsune who develops an immediate affinity towards Selena because of that. And Sakitu and Quasit have a developing friendship while Ibona is jealous of that. And Quasit and Ibona seems to have some friction in their interactions.

So this all makes for some fun character RP.

to be fair if I had waited, the circumstances of her arrival probably would have been met with your blades, her magic and very colorful actions, the lesser of two evils, though I did stir the pot with the sudden leaving of the cleric, and kinda dropping her in, near the end of the area on the other side of a trap. but again 2 evils, interesting rp, character fun, and adventure as it could honestly happen. can't always be a positive meeting

Hmm. You are right. I thought that even in human form a Kitsune was recognizable as Kitsune -- maybe especially to another one???

But after reading the description I'm not so sure.

If you want to keep your identity secret then I'm ok retconning if the GM is.


Honestly, I'm not sure. She wasn't born this way, so there'd be no cultural clues, but there could always be something else recognizable to you as fellow shapeshifter, particularly since she has been a shapeshifter for only a few months and is still getting used to it.

She would definitely remain human for most of the time though, especially around strangers, even more so around strangers facing a problem of winter creatures.

She was dead, then reincarnated. She had seen the thief that got away and therefore could identify him. Also, as the child of a noble, one might expect some gratitude for bringing her back, though reincarnation does occasionally come back as something unusual, and this was such a case that I figured tied in well with the story.


Interestingly enough, simple common knowledge of Irrisen (what was on the wiki) is enough to guess what is going on, before even reading the pg for the module. So obvious, that I have to avoid to bringing it up even though I haven't read or seen anything of the module aside from the pg.

The adventure begins in the village of Heldren, a small village in Taldor just north of the Border Wood near Qadira. as you travel the woods, you start heading South west, though right now you have come around a bend and making your way westward towards a valley, which holds something that will take you somewhere probably (trying not to spoil it)


Do I roll perception for my familiar? Different gms have different ideas on this so I figured I'd ask.

Ibona's pissed at you, to the point where she is going to blatantly ignore you, until you (in Ibona's eyes) prove yourself to her. Don't ask what that might take, I as a player honestly haven't decided one way or another. She is this way because 1. Most sleep magic still allows one to be woken up by an ally or certain other things. Does that apply here, if so, how does getting woken up affect the other parts of the spell? I.E. the stunned condition would be 9 rounds without being awoken, but does getting awoken after only one round mean that I'm stunned for only 6 rounds (since the lessened effects are all mentioned in relative terms to the worse conditions)?

Gotta love save or die, right? Probably the one thing 4e got right.

I never heard of smelling salts (in d20).

The only time the rules actually address someone trying to wake someone up (as far as I've ever heard) is in the sleep spells, which means it is otherwise undefined (though the sleep spells serve as a precadent). Maybe they added rules with smelling salts, but that'd be kinda unfair since classically dropping water on someone should work, or slapping them, or similar.

Anyway, whatever. This is one of those times I wish more gms let familiars take levels (since the rules don't say they can't).

Hmm, smelling salts assume an ongoing spell or dying. Color spray is neither, and though sleep spells do have duration, but those explicitly address how to wake up early.

Selena as for Familiars leveling

Use the basic statistics for a creature of the familiar’s kind, but with the following changes.

Hit Dice: For the purpose of effects related to number of Hit Dice, use the master’s character level or the familiar’s normal HD total, whichever is higher.

Hit Points: The familiar has half the master’s total hit points (not including temporary hit points), rounded down, regardless of its actual Hit Dice.

Attacks: Use the master’s base attack bonus, as calculated from all his classes. Use the familiar’s Dexterity or Strength modifier, whichever is greater, to calculate the familiar’s melee attack bonus with natural weapons. Damage equals that of a normal creature of the familiar’s kind.

Saving Throws: For each saving throw, use either the familiar’s base save bonus (Fortitude +2, Reflex +2, Will +0) or the master’s (as calculated from all his classes), whichever is better. The familiar uses its own ability modifiers to saves, and it doesn’t share any of the other bonuses that the master might have on saves.

Skills: For each skill in which either the master or the familiar has ranks, use either the normal skill ranks for an animal of that type or the master’s skill ranks, whichever is better. In either case, the familiar uses its own ability modifiers. Regardless of a familiar’s total skill modifiers, some skills may remain beyond the familiar’s ability to use. Familiars treat Acrobatics, Climb, Fly, Perception, Stealth, and Swim as class skills.

That is what I have found in my digging for familiars leveling, it basically upgrades as you do


It acts as a template, and certain stats are overridden, but no where does it say the now intelligent familiar is incapable of learning new skills or abilities or class levels, though given you use the greater number of hit dice of the master's or the familiar's would suggest recognition of a familiar's ability to gain hit dice on it's own.

The advancements of the familiar template don't fit the concept of a familiar becoming more capable and competant, rather it seems quite limited to the concept of their life force being connected to the master.

So it is a matter of perspective and comfort in dealing with partially defined or undefined areas of the game.

If they caused the vision issues, like it is their strength, then they wouldn't.....


Only if they have a special ability (winter touched sprites normally don't). A caster that casts obscuring mist for example is subject to it's effects just like anyone else unless they have some other method of seeing through the mist.

Alright, he's not doing it currently as he's adventuring but I assume it's some initially weird seeming PFS thing. He's got profession sailor because I felt background wise he should have it, not exactly something he's doing now. Knowledge Dungeoneering would be the same modifier and might suit more for the description of the day job.

Wait, who does the day job roll apply to? If we are playing a home game or AP, I know we can get credit of some sort, but a day job just gives gold to to the pfs character that rolled it, So, since this isn't a bunch of pfs scenerios, who gets the gold?
