I made a human fighter of Ulfen descent. I'm not 100% married to it but I haven't seen anyone else declare for a particular character aside from Zin's Tiefling Investigator so rather than dawdle I put together something I'd be happy with. He's pretty tanky but I could do up a Cleric or Oracle if no one is in the mood for a healer.

I've kept him mostly core rulebook bar some of the items and traits. I'd be tempted to take additional traits at level 3, just not sure what is an isn't allowed completely yet. Pick up defender of society.

GM, since this is campaign mode, are you OK with using a minor book we do not own? (In particular, I'm thinking of Blood of Angels for the variant aasimar heritages)


The character is built. I assumed the variant aasimar heritages without owning the book were OK since you had not answered, I will adjust if you don't want me using it. Right now the character is an export from the software, I will clean it up later. It's good enough to start to play from, at least.

In terms of gear, is there any way you would allow partial wands? I spent most of my wealth buying 12 scrolls of 2 spells, but a partial wand would be much more cost effective.

I think it depends how healing capable our bard is.

Exactly. Get me that, and I'm a great healer. And, since they are only what, 750 gold, that shouldn't be an issue.


Yeah. Hopefully the GM will be generous about allowing us the opportunity to buy one as soon as we have the money, rather than waiting until we are in a town.

Yu Khan, you can apply the boons to the character, but you are only running a copy of the character, otherwise the character won't be leveled like the rest of the group, so you can use the 500 and still be pfs legal when applying the boons

I know, and, truthfully, I was saving up anyway in the hopes of getting a Wand of CLW, as the group would need it greatly (that, and the bard doesn't need a ton of gear to start with anyway). And, while I have done a single PFS scenario with this character, nothing gained from that scenario is being applied to what is done on my character description, so I can be leveled up at the same rate for this campaign as everyone else (which is why you don't see PP/Fame, Faction or anything like that.

Ok, so I completed my profile upload and update 100%, as it should appear for this campaign, and not for a "normal" PFS senario. Added in cost of gear, etc. If I spend everything I have on a Wand of CLW, the group needs to come up with 316 gold between everyone else. Of course, I would be broke, but we can do it for more heals.


I have 90 gold sitting around I can put towards a wand. I can come up with more if I sell stuff, just let me know.

When we get it down to 25 charges we should start keeping out eyes peeled for a new one.

So the party mix is

Quasit-Human (Varisian) Rogue
Bulvi-Human (Ulfen) Fighter

Strong ranged mix and arcane support. If the opportunity allows we pin cushion the enemy and Bulvi can be a speed bump of flesh and steel if they try to close lining up flanks with Quasit for sneak attacks.

I've tried to ensure I've at least some cold iron and silver attacks as options as well as all the basic damage types. Damage reduction is a pain for low levels but Yu Khan might make a few suggestions with that lovely bardic knowledge.

When I first made Sakitu I made him as a male Kitsune. But EVERYTIME that I sit down to make a post, I am imagining Sakitu as female. I have to adjust my thinking back to male. I've decided to stop fighting it. Unless the GM objects, I'm changing Sakitu to female (still Kitsune). Hopefully we aren't too far along in the adventure for it to be a problem.

@GM: Sorry, I'm a bit confused...my character was bolded for action...but I didn't hear the attack so I couldn't run to Yu's aid, is that right? So what moves am I restricted to?

the only sounds made was sound of a body hitting another body, you were currently watching Quasit providing her cover, when you saw her get hit by a spiked log trap. that is what you currently know, if you want to delay any action for your turn and jump in after Bulvi, then you'd be able to move and alert Quasit and get up to the edge of the trail with a double move, which would be a 60' move unless you have a higher move speed

does that clear it up?

GM, I need some clarification of my cold steel bloodline ability in relation to how it works with ammunition and duration.

There are two things I haven't been able to resolve.

1) I can apply cold steel to up to 50 pieces of ammunition
2) It only lasts CL/2 rounds.

My basic reading of this is that I can effect all 50 arrows but then only use one on my next round. If I was CL 20 then I could use 1 arrow per round for 10 rounds.

The confusing part for me is that there is no way I could ever use 50 pieces of ammunition in CL/2 rounds so why does it allow me to effect that many?

Am I reading it wrong?

cold steel sp - At 1st level, you can touch a weapon or up to 50 pieces of ammunition as a standard action, giving it the frost property for a number of rounds equal to 1/2 your sorcerer level (minimum 1). At 9th level, you can confer the icy burst property instead, but the duration of the power is halved. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Charisma modifier.

since it has a number of uses in a day, you may go through more then a small amount of ammunition depending on combat, the standard bundle for custom ammunition is 50, so they kept it at that number.

and at lvl 20 you have 2 attacks a round so you'd be doing more then just 1 arrow for 10 rounds depending on how you build the character

Yu's CON is 10...does death occur when his negative HP = CON or when negative HP > CON?

I can get close to him next turn, but can't heal till the following turn...looking at the initiative order he'd be at -10 when I could use the wand...

Then I'm useless to him...I can't even reach him to attempt to stabilize him before he hits -10 from where I'm at...

A DC 15 Heal check would do it, right?

Looks that way...sorry Yu, if I was above you in the initiative order, I could do it...initiative screwed us...the person yelling was below me in turn order so I didn't hear the attack, otherwise, I could've made it in time...

Perhaps one of the others can stabilize you with Heal...can anyone else besides you and I operate a wand of CLW?

If he can stabilize, I can heal him with the wand once we take care of the zombies...

I'm not. I have plenty of other level 1's ready to go if need be. We would lose our "face" and tons of knowledge skills, but its a game.


Really kicking myself that I didn't take a rank in use magic device.

I have no bonus to heal, so this round I will concentrate on keeping the zombies from hurting Yu more.

Alexia, if we drop the red zombie this round, you can make a Heal attempt to try to stabilize Yu...it's a long shot as you need a 15 or higher but the blue zombie will probably be tied up with Bulvis so you'd at least have a chance to save him...

Ok so here's my slightly reckless plan. Drop to the ground as a free action, crawl forward provoking an attack of opportunity- under the wagon as a move action, drop sword and shield as a free action and a standard action to do heal to stabilize, only got a +1 but things are looking grim.

Ok, so worst case is that I die, which is looking likely. What would the group like next? I can make just about anything, but I have several PFS level 1's made already. I was thinking of running an alchemist. What I don't know is that if my Cure Light Wounds prepared extract allows me to use the CLW wand(never played an alchemist). If not, a Skald is an option. I would have to make him from scratch, but no worry there. (I wouldn't have time to do so until Sat afternoon/evening however). If we are ok with a single healer (or at least someone who can use a CLW wand), It looks like we could use some Melee and I have a 2h Fighter ready to go as well.....

Wands are spell trigger items.

The APG says: An alchemist can utilize spell-trigger items if the spell appears on his formulae list, but not spell-completion items (unless he uses Use Magic Device to do so).
