They came from different places, different times, perhaps even different worlds. But each was sure they had died... so why are they here now, alive, in this strange place, and why do these hourglasses slowly empty, what event does their last dribbles of sand portend?

Finally I'm done.
Cale Pavel
From his back story:
Cale Pavel is strong, tough and smart. Years in the Gladiatoral Ring had made him used to combat and skilled in the usage of weapons and performance. Also known as the 'boring, silent one', matches with Cale tend to be short and relatively boring as it usually involved Cale bringing his opponent out of the ring himself. Cale however was unlike most Gladiators,

Cale liked studying. He studied about farming and how best to make the most out of it. An ambitious carrer path unlike his peers, Cale wanted to be the best farmer there was.

Despite his success in the ring, having made quite a fortune and some fame, Cale bought his own freedom and had enough left over to buy over a massive plot of land.

Cale despite his best efforts at farming somehow became the butt of jokes.

Growing cabbages, carrots, potatoes and pumpkins his crops somehow were always 'wrong'. Purple cabbages, Green Carrots, Silver potatoes and White pumpkins, were what was grown. They were edible and proved non poisonous but somehow they just didn't look right but they grew in popularity. Cale was baffled, so were his neighbours.

Next were his herd animals, Cale purchased sheep, cows, horses, chickens, ducks and other farm animals as well as hired help to watch over them. They looked normal enough at first to Cale's relief but then once more, nature's joke was applied again. Horses with fleece, Chickens with hooves, Ducks with horns, flying pigs, racing cows and incredible barrel-shaped horses. Once more, his produce was deemed safe by local experts and priests, even his hired help vouched for Cale but the damage to his reputation was done. He was offically a mad scientist said to dabble in the arcane arts.

Late that night, the calm of the night was broken by something. Whatever it was it spooked the animals and they broke their fencings. His hired help fled the scene but Cale was last reported attempting to calm the animals and was seen trampled over by a horde of chickens after being knocked down by a stampede of racing cows, tripped by panicked horned ducks, kneed into submission by kamikaze flying pigs, a huge boar taking the honor of direct hit in between the legs and eye witness said that the eye crossing and expression of Cale was the last thing they ever saw as well as the instinctive reaction to cross their own legs, and hidden from view by the horses now 5 men wide.

There was plenty of everything that pointed to his death but Cale had being smart and had actually provided for his hired help to care for his land until either himself or his succesor returned to claim it back. The land was rich and could provide for several generations.

Of Cale? He was never seen nor found even a after a week of searching.

This is what happens when I try to rush late-night character creation, I miss stuff...

(1) Physically Stable Body. Hero Lab shows an AC of 17 with a breakdown of Base 10 + Dex 2 + Natural Armor +5 = 17. The natural armor breakdown seems to come from: Improved Natural Armor (+1), Quadruped Form (+2) and the Armor Bonus (+2) listed on the eidolon table. Is that correct, or do I need to half that last value?

(2) Magic Item Slot = Neck.

Will wait for final approval before I join the Gameplay thread. Based on how things appear to be going, I'm guessing that Palomia will initially pop up without Relas, yes? :)

If you are going with the Physically Stable Body, then yes, the AC is correct. However, you can't put armor on your eidelon, and it requires the Summoner be active to maintain a link to it's body. That means if the summoner drops, the Eidelon goes poof, as per base class.

The spiritually stable body halves the Armor and Natural AC it normally gets, but the Eidelon doesn't require the Summoner to be awake and active to maintain it's presence.

It's sort of a trade off. Just depends on whether you want the Eidelon to watch over you while you sleep or not. :)

As to popping up, if you go with physically stable, then yes, you'll start without Relas, as his body would have failed when she lost consciousness. If you decide to go with spiritually stable, then no, he'd wake up with you.

@Nightdeath

Eh... lose the flying pigs. Other than that... I can work with it.

1) How did your Oread gain the Skilled human racial trait?
2) You do realize your background opens up GM meddling into the reason for the wierdness in your farming. :)

Sovereign Court

Flying Pigs removed. I think I know which reference you meant.

1)Skilled Removed. I copied over an existing template and the last was human.
2) I love working with GMs and fellow players on story. So yes the Background is left exactly vague enough to include enough hijinks and plot hooks.

Rutheric the defender of forests is ready for your perusal!

I wanted to go with a druid-like character without being an actual DRUID...so the Warden ranger archetype fit like a glove for a defender of the forest. :3

That works for me! Thus far, Palomia hasn't had much of a reason to worry about Relas poofing while she sleeps. Of course now that her circumstances have changed, she may very well be rethinking that...

(I see that I can change that at each level up, if I wish. Whether she does or not depends on how much danger she routinely finds herself in and how much she trusts the rest of the group.)

Palomia is approved for Gameplay thread

@Rutheric

1) Need to specify where his Favored Class options went.
2) It would be nice if the skills were one per line and listed out ranks, trained, trait, racial bonuses etc.
3) the background is good enough for now, but if you can flesh it out some more before Saturday that would be better.

Sovereign Court

Am I approved?

Cale Pavel approved for Gameplay after the flying pigs reference is removed from background. :)

Sorry, flying pigs got ruined for me by the Geico commercials.

nightdeath wrote:

See above. :)

Do let me have a second to post. :)

I prefer to do approvals in separate posts.

Geico commercials?

Sorry never seen it. I'm going to youtube it or something. lol

Fixed skills/FCB, and fleshed out backstory a bit.

@Rutheric
Thanks that helps.

It looks like you've spent 12 Skill Points, however, I count 3 x 3 = 9 (Monstrous Humanoid) and 5 x 1 (Ranger) for a total of 9+5=14. So you should have 2 skill points unspent?

Approved for Gameplay once skill ranks are right.

The Exchange

Is there still space? I thought recruitment had lapsed (i caught this last night) but maybe it hasn't and honestly I was hoping to get into a game of some kind with you mdt and our groups split the wrong way on our "into the North" parties...anyway, I have ideas and interest but I understand if the dance card is full. Don't ask, don't get and all that.

It's open until Saturday Night Devon, so go for it.

1) Looks like you've only spent 7 of 9 skill ranks?

Otherwise, looks good. You may proceed to the gameplay section (fix the ranks).

I spent them but it certainly wasn't clear...whoops

Thank you, feel free to post in gameplay Abbas

This has come up in another game I run, and I'm going to post it in all my games.

How much plot and RP with NPCs you get is directly dependent on how interactive you are with me in your posts. Please do not expect me to give you long, detailed, intricate RP if you are going to post 2 lines which consist of basically 'I go with the flow' or 'I go along with everyone else' or 'I wait to see what happens'. When you do that, what you are doing is saying 'I do not want to RP with you or the NPCs, I just want to read the story'. Which I can accept, but don't turn around and complain to me that other players are getting a much more indepth plot or role play situation.

I will repeat, how much RP you get is directly dependent upon you, and it's up to you to drive it. Get off your butt and make choices, seek out things that interest you, question NPCs, RP with your fellow players.

Look back at your posts, if you have posted some variation of 'I wait around' for more than half the last 10 posts, you are the reason you are not actively roleplaying. Those who wait around do just that, wait around.

@Nightdeath

Ok, this hadn't come up before. :) Everyone else either wrote their death fully equipped, or forewent equipment because their background didn't match it (the Kappa).

The whole posing in in a night shirt threw me. :) So... how far from your house were you when you got trampled, and did you keep an adventurer's pack ready to go? Or was your gear scattered around your farm?

Sovereign Court

lol I'm a genius. I sabotaged myself without thinking? In order of what I think it could be. 80 feet from home before being introduced to death by trample, an upcoming way of meeting your maker. An adventurer's pack is always ready to go...a couple of years ago. Only weapons were kept with his best adventuring suit.

I'll wing it I suppose as I go along. I'm a gladitor! Everything is a weapon!
ROFL. I'm also a professional farmer with a close relation to this person called murphy.

Small fyi: I was buried with my armor and trident, but nothing else. The villagers never found my thieves' tools. (I'm so clever, hiding them in my shell)

Just wanted to stop by and wish you all the best! Have tons of fun!

Thanks Kana. :)

Hm. Is it too late to retroactively spend some of my gold on some more mundane equipment? And by "mundane equipment," I mean "a horse."

Nope, not too late. You have until Saturday night to finalize your equipment.

Sczarni

Yeah, I *totally* forgot to mention the spare falchion I always keep in the bottom of my backpack.

:-D

If you have enough gold for it left unspent. :)

All right, neat. I was mostly curious about what would happen in the Escher-Zone. Does the VOICE speak horse? :D

Nope,
anything non-sentient is in a pattern buffer.

I'm suddenly caught by the notion that we might all materialize in some sort of cosmic arena, suddenly forced to kill the others that we just spend the time getting to know...LOL

I need to rethink my gear, I think I slightly misunderstood the proposition as one of being not important rather than we get it once we are "out"...I will adjust that.

Since interest is so high, I am officially withdrawing from this thread so that others can have a fair shot at one of the two groups. I'm already running or have a character in 5 games after all. Best of luck guys!

Fare well then, Silver Prince, and thanks for the interest!

Scarab Sages Contributor

Gotta say, Goghurt is quite a source for comedy.

Goghurt use SCIENCE!!!

Classic.

I'm glad you're enjoying him :D

Scarab Sages Contributor

Woah. I did not realize until JUST NOW how ineffective my character will be in combat.

Time for an overhaul; archery kappa ftw!

FYI all, I'm buried in work right now, so I can't really respond much, but I'm reading. Probably much better off RPing amongst yourselvs. Please assume the voice keeps up the warnings until tommorrow night at Midnight. I'll announce what I'm doing tomorrow night or Sunday Morning.

Sczarni

I'll be unavailable most of Sunday with travel and birthday celebrations. If events transpire, Goragg's general response is (in decreasing order of preference):

1) stab it with a falchion
2) smash it with a flail
3) shoot an arrow into it
4) smash it with a fist

If all else fails,

5) Talk to it.

And he's still in charge as far as he's concerned.

I've fired off PM's to about half of you, please check your in boxes. I really need a response by Saturday Midnight if you got one. If you didn't, don't panic, it's not a private invite to the game, it's about questions on the character sheets. I've been going over them with a magnifying glass, and had questions.

I must say I really like the RP going on in the Game Thread, very entertaining. I do want to warn people though that I frown on PVP without a good reason. Note that being attacked is a good reason. 'My character would have totally stabbed him in the kidneys in the dark at the first chance' is not. :) I don't expect any PvP honestly, but I always give a 'good idea' 'bad idea' example when it's time to start another campaign. So consider that your good idea/bad idea moment.

And we are officially closed!

Thanks every one for submissions and really good RP in the gameplay thread.

I will be working up who/what/when/where.

I still have an outstanding PM to Gniel, if I don't hear from him by morning, I'll just go with my best judgement on his question.

Ok, Haven't heard from Gniel, so going with my best judgement on the question I had for him.

I've made my decision, and the selected party members are.....

...Everyone. I've decided to run two groups simultaneously in the same world. Basically I'll expect you all to split up into 2 groups (one with 4 members, one with 5) and then I'll put up a gameplay thread for both halfs. We'll keep the gameplay thread we have for when the groups get back together.

So, I'll post in the gameplay with the intro to the game. Nightdeath, please use your actual avatar going forward.

Welcome all and have fun!

MDT

Sovereign Court

Noted. And Wow. Just Wow. Came back from work and saw this first thing upon showering. Made my day.

This thread is re-opened, we've lost a player in one of the two games, so recruitment is re-opened to get a replacement. Read through the front of the the recruitment thread, to get the rules for making characters.

The Stag Group lost a character (Player bowed out due to lack of time). They are looking for a non-core race replacement with some healing ability.

I'll leave it open until I get a valid character, since I want to get them in quickly. So mostly a firstish come firstish serve (note it's the first fully finished and approved character).

Psh. Healing. [/2cool4healers]

Go team stag !

Hooray, Team Stag still lives! (Not that Palomia really cares...well okay, maybe a little...)

;)

I'm going to put down a dot of interest this time, since it is looking like I have more time. Tossing around an idea or two. How do you feel about a lycanthrope?
