So you have a goblin, a hobgoblin, a gnome and a kappi?
Actually we lost some players (not characters). The current makeup is Hobgoblin, Oread, Werewolf (we don't actually know that yet as characters), and two Tieflings, if my calculations are correct.
Plus, my Hated Enemy is goblins, so be prepared for some conflict if that's the race you choose.

No problem, ill chose something different :)
I though that there was a bit of a green party going on and i wouldnt want to create that kind of conflict from the get go.
I hear that magic is... Different in this campaign. I think that ut could be quite interesting to have that kind of challenge. Im thinking of some kind of uber summoner (conjuration wizard) who summoned a bit more than he could chew, but the summoned devil could chew just fine.
Also, i have not played a wizard before, so that is going to be a chalenge :)
Do you think something like this could work?

Gav, a few issues I found :
1 ) You miscalculated your BAB. You have +3 BAB from Racial hitdice, +0 from Sorcerer, and +0 from Monk, so it's +3 BAB, not +2. This affects your attacks too under offense, bite should be +8, and flurry +7/+7.
My Bad. I had Magical beast as 3/4BAB progression for some reason, will adjust.
2 ) AC is not notated correctly. 10 + 5 (Dex) + 3 (Wis) + 2 (Natural) = 20. The numbers are right, but the formula after them is not.
This was imported incorrectly, and I thought I'd updated it. Most likely timed out before I finished.
3 ) I only see one trait? You get two. I may be missing one. I would get Magickal Knack, as it would let you cast your sorcerer spells as a 3rd level caster (mage armor duration 3 hours rather than 1, etc).
Thought I had picked a second, perhaps it got lost in the time out too. I'll pick Magical knack as my second.
4 ) Skills need to be broken out by ranks + stat + bonus -> Total. It's hard to ensure you have the skill points right. You get 2 per racial hit dice, remember. Also, your racial hit dice give you some class skills (see magical beast).
Sure. I usually do that anyway (it's pretty unreadable at the moment).
That's all I saw going through first time. It would make it easier to read if you could put blank lines between special abilities.
Just a note, I decided not to take Aspect of the Beast (Claws of the Beast) as I thought the secondary attacks would be too low a 'to-hit chance' (-5 until I qualify for Multiattack, by which time Flurry would be better anyway) to be worth investing a Feat in, and Flurry is more iconic for a Monk.

Per the Developers, non-humanoids do not require hands for somatic and do not require humanoid speach for verbal components. They do require Natural Spell feat, but only if they take on a humanoid form. A blink dog sorcerer uses tail wags, ear wiggles, and paw motions for somatics, and yips, yowels, whines, and barks for verbal.
James Jacob's commentary on page 5 of thread
The rules in the book about casting in a shape other than your own are specifically just that, about polymorph magic. You can always cast in your natural form. Yes, that means Kitsune should be able to cast equally well in both humanoid and fox forms.

Checking to see who's still interested, the openings will be up shortly to be filled (got half the players back to the pedastal, the other half are being suicidal).
Gavmania : Pallakka (Blink-Dog Sorcerer)
Gobo Horde : <No name yet> (Insane Goblin Wizard)
Dal Selpher : Lilandra (Half-Elf Bard Fighter)
Had one more, Alhandra, but haven't seen a post by the person beyond the first one, so making it an iffy one.

i would like to point out Mr Blink Dog that Enlarge person isn't going to work on you.
Nor can you cast spell in that blink dog form (you would need a way to deal with verbal and somatic component for the spells)
Druid have access to natural spell feat but the requirement is: Wild shape
As mdt said, there is a way round all that. Besides Blink Dogs can speak (they begin by knowing Sylvan, and I took an extra language with a rank in linguistics to get common), and Somatic involves the moving of limbs, which Blink dogs have (actually they have twice as many limbs as humans have arms).
If you check out the entry in the Bestiary, you will see that Blink Dogs have a tradition of the Blink Dog Sage (a kind of Shaman), who often has levels of sorceror. For me, this clinches it; it suggests that levels of Sorceror are not only possible, they are not even uncommon.
Add in the fact that I have Foo Dog blood in my veins, and it bercomes virtually impossible for me not to have sorceror levels.

Great tks DM.
i was working on an Lunar Oracle trying to make us of Form of the beast and still be able to make use of spellcasting since a humanoid character can not take the natural spell feet when i encountered that problem.
the only way i could make this work is the silent / still / eshew material metamagic feats...
mdt |
The alternate, rules legal, way to do that is a level dip into Druid. Unfortunately, it's a four level dip. But it's doable. Probably slightly less painful than the silent/still/eschew route, although it costs caster level (you get some nifty benny's from the druid levels though). Especially if you go for something like Menhir Savant, which gives you at will detect a ton of stuff, or Storm Druid which gives some nifty spell abilities and also the ability to ignore 10 ft of fog/mist/etc.
Gavmania |
Alternatively,
the Deaf oracle's curse fives you silent spell on all spells for free.
1 level of sorceror gives you eschew Materials for free.
That only leaves 1 Feat to get. It's not as good as the druid route as you still have to use Metamagic, boosting spell level by 2 ( and therefore limiting your utility), but dropping 4 levels into druid would also reduce your spell access by a couple of levels.
Grim The Wanderer |
yes i know i figured that with the def curse (You cast all of your spells as if they were modified by the Silent Spell feat. This does not increase their level or casting time)
plus take the Still / eschew metamagic i would be casting my spell at a cost of +1 Level while in Form of the Beast. (so casting out of combat buff spell is doable, but not while in combat so much because of the longer spellcasting duration)
and taking the Magical Lineage trait i can cast my Fav Go to Spell as no cost expect the extended spell casting.
(now if only i could find a way to reduce the spell casting time of applying a metamagic to a spontaneous caster...)
Gavmania |
Also, some spells have no Somatic component, so still spell would not be needed. Unfortunatley there are not many like that on the Cleric lists (Command was one I saw after a quick look).
Not sure if Eschew Materials works on spells needing a Deific Focus (Holy Symbol), but if it doesn't, you can take the Birthmark trait and, if the GM agrees, that should cover that.

Ok, well, it appears we had exactly 2 completed characters, so those two are selected. :)
Pallaka and Lilandra selected. We'll be moving the Stag group and the Dolphin group back into the Gameplay section of this thread in the next few days, assuming the Stag group survives their current level of greed. :) Please have alias's finalized. Thank you for applying, and congrats to our new players.

Go ahead and post in the gameplay for this game thread to dot it. All the current players will be moving back to this game thread shortly. Then people will have the option of re-configuring groups if they want, to better cover things like magic and healing ability. Once everyone has met each other and the teams reformed, they can start back out again.
