Background:
Rutheric was a simple kappa, being a self-titled 'defender of the woods'. He tried to inconvenience any who failed to show respect for the natural world, and sometimes just for the heck of it.
But then a nearby village started logging. Uncontrollably, even. At the beginning of this, Rutheric was generally uncaring for it. He continued his pranks, mildly annoyed.
But then...the land spoke to him. But not in a traditional sense. It...just called out to him. Called for help. Ruth ignored this for a bit, but eventually, it got to him. He knew he had to give up his puckish ways. He was the only one who would speak for the river, the animals, and the trees. So his pranks turned to brutal sabotage. Nothing would stand between him and his home.
Naturally, he was eventually caught. The water was forced out of his head, and he was thrown in a sealed-up tomb to starve to death. He blacked out after a few days, still wondering what he did wrong. He jsut wanted to protect his home...
