Maia Silndra Rose |
hmmmmm hehehe, I dare you.. ummm.
she places her free index finger on her bottom lip.
Val- Act like a raven.
Maia Starts,
VAL, its not your turn.
Val- Well you weren't saying anything so I spoke up.
No, Thats not how it works.
she turns towards Morthos.
I dare you, to, to.. AH! I dare you to perfom a dance for us!
The raven ruffles his feathers
Val- Mine was better
Maia promptly Shushes him. Then smiles at morthos.
You can swear the raven is laughing on her shoulder.
Cellawyn Cayentelva |
Cellawyn enters the tavern and surveys the room. Drunken fools. They disrespect the Professor's memory.
She takes a seat at the bar.
"So, how did he die? Does anyone know? I assume the rest of you are here for Professor Lorrimor's funeral."
Zorusk White Star |
Zorusk looks up from his drink as the darkly beautiful elf speaks. He pushes back his hood and moves to sit next to her.
"Murder most foul, no doubt. The professor was an honorable man, but he dealt with dark forces. I fear the undead that he studied would become his end."
Zorusk finishes his whiskey.
"I plan to avenge his death."
Borden Read |
Borden drinks again, bereft of female attention and not drunk or desperate enough to put himself in the cross hairs.
Glade Wolf |
Zorusk looks up from his drink as the darkly beautiful elf speaks. He pushes back his hood and moves to sit next to her.
"Murder most foul, no doubt. The professor was an honorable man, but he dealt with dark forces. I fear the undead that he studied would become his end."
Zorusk finishes his whiskey.
"I plan to avenge his death."
I agree with his statement And Glade Wolf is sober, he had like one drink and that was over an hour ago, as he is typically a non-drinker.
Oh, my, an Orc and an Elf getting along, that's a new one.Maia Silndra Rose |
At the new arrivals question Maia turns to regard her.
I fear I know no more than you, But yes, I, and my friends here
she glides her hand across those at the table
seem to be here for the same reason. Celebrating, the late professors life, and morning his passing.
Valinder-
Elvish Indeed, His passing was most sudden, and has left a hole in many a heart it seems.
TIPSY, but just slightly, she has only had say.. 2 glasses of red wine? And she is a rather.. healthy young woman.... or celestial elf??
Cellawyn Cayentelva |
Cellawyn turns to the human and orc, "Greetings, I'm Cellawyn Cayentelva. I was a student of Professor Lorrimor. He taught me everything I know about the undead. I studied with him for about a year here in Ravengro. Looking back, that was one of the best years of my life. I just wish I could have returned under better circumstances. How did the rest of you know him? Are any of you from Ravengro?"
Deivon the Kinslayer |
"Pharasma take all they who have shunned her embrace for false life!" Deivon hisses beneath his breath. With the talk of undead, his devout faith and harsh training edge forward. His hand fall to his waist where a silver holy symbol of Pharasma is tied through his belt loop. "If undead are the cause of his death, then they shall not stand before my righteous fury..."
Maia Silndra Rose |
hmmm, If it was undead, I will burn them to a crisp! I didn't spend much time with the prof. But He was a great man, and I cared for him deeply. Well, if anyone was the cause of his death I will burn them to a crisp, undead or not! But, usually undead are only a tool for someone else...
Maia chimes in.
Glade Wolf |
I vaguely knew him, I knew him through my adopted parents. I didn't know him all that well personally. I don't like the undead either, some of them worked under a certain Demon, especially vampires and other intelligent undead.
Edit:No, I'm not from around here
Morthos Thadrius |
"I'm afraid I don't know any dances offhand. Perhaps I should have chosen truth."
At the mention of Undead Morthos forgets the game momentarily. "Who said anything about the undead?" he almost seems angry now, not at anyone in particular just about the fact that undead may be involved with the professor's death.
"Necromancy is it? Oh! By the light of the inheritor I swear! I'll not suffer their kind to live. A person who engages in the black art is as evil as the demons of the abyss. A swift end I'll bring to their false life."
nightdeath |
Kye flushes and tries to maintain his smile as he takes his seat. What in the world could I have said? Begging your pardon, please! I missed a day or two of Dwarvish lessons. That and I'm somewhat of an idiot. I will constrain myself to the common tongue. Please forgive me. He appreciated the dwarfs laughter in lieu of what it might have been instead.
My tale is a humble one, but speaks very well of the good professor.
As the man weaves his tale, his grief is palpable as he recounts his life up to now, Hotrek's hand remains steady as he continues writing, determined to capture this captivating tale in writing. Not interrupting and only the scratching of the quill accompanies the man's words. When he finished, Hotrek offers him a drink from his jug of water.
"There there Lad, yer folks will be proud of the man you are now."
He writes in once more and finishes off the story with the usual ending before setting down his quill to rest his cramping hands.
-Brother Kye, Greatness in Mind, As Penned by Hotrek-
Glade Wolf |
That couldn't be any more true Morthos, except few people here actually got to experience how truly evil and powerful a Demon is, though I'm sure more of us ran into undead zombies or even skeletons, not sure if anyone has seen vampires though.
CKorfmann |
Kye rests a hand on the dwarf's shoulder. You honor me with this written account of Professor Lorrimor's touch on my life. These may not be all fond memories, but they are good. Nothing had been written about him specifically ever before, at least to his knowledge. He gazed at the parchment as a child does a Christmas gift.
nightdeath |
Hotrek smiles. His expression lights up as he bids Kye to wait as he swiftly makes an additional copy once his hand stops cramping, pblowing on the ink gently to allow it to dry, he presents it to Kye as he keeps the rest in his note books.
"Take this. Memory in written form and it is you who honor me. Few are those who speaks freely of their sad experiences and fewer those who rise from the depths of despair and speak about it."
Bran Grindle |
Zorusk looks up from his drink as the darkly beautiful elf speaks. He pushes back his hood and moves to sit next to her.
"Murder most foul, no doubt. The professor was an honorable man, but he dealt with dark forces. I fear the undead that he studied would become his end."
Zorusk finishes his whiskey.
"I plan to avenge his death."
Bran looks up from his arm wrestling match as the Orc speaks again. That's the story I got from that group of barbarians I met on the way here, murder. If the rumors are true, you have my axe in the fight!
Bran focuses back to the match at hand.
Pun intended.
Borden Read |
Borden brightens appreciably!
A-rooo
He claps the big mans hand and puts himself to the task.
Str 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Looks like both men struggle clumsily to get their grip in place and its Brans natural strength that sees him to getting an advantage and turning the wrist.
You handed that one to me on a platter - but dice god loves us both equally it seems
Narah |
Narah comes back in and shakes her head as if to get rid of a thought. Her whips ridiculously wild around her. As she notices the game is off she wanders to Seraphine, pays casual attention to the wrestling, puts a hand softly onto her shoulder and whispers into her ear with a tactful tone:
She leans a little back and looks around. "What happened to the game? I know just the question I wanted to ask Morthos. Less because I cared about the answer - it would have been a yes or no question anyway - but more because I wanted him to think about it."
nightdeath |
Hotrek looks on as the two arm wrestle.
He grins a little.
"Looks fun. Mind if I try? Do mind my old bones though"
For any who takes up this old dwarf's challenge
Attempt 1 Strength Check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Attempt 2 Strength Check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Attempt 3 Strength Check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Attempt 4 Strength Check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Attempt 5 Strength Check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Attempt 6 Strength Check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Any other checks and Hotrek will decline stating old bones as the reason.
Borden Read |
I'll go first for round 2 Bran
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Borden puts himself into the match, straining mightily to turn the tide!
Bran Grindle |
As the two hulks go at the arm wrestling, maia Finally notices.
GO BIG GUY! I'm Rooting for you! She shouts across the tavern.
Bran having the upper hand, he decides to toy with Borden. He give several short, but powerful bursts, pumping Borden's arm back and forth.
Strength Check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Is that all you got? Bran laughs in a hearty, friendly manner.
Shush the Halfling Rogue |
Shush stands by watching the warriors arm wrestle. He watches Bran to figure out how his strength allows him to keep winning.
Perception to know if Bran is under the influence of magic or abilities like Rage. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Shush taps Bran on the shoulder Hey big guy, I'll give it a try against you!
Borden Read |
I'll go ahead and post round 3.
Delighted even more at the advantage he's gained, he goes into a rage.
Bran laughs again.. You are a worthy opponent, but you must concede victory!
Never!, Borden gasps quite out of breath.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
But the big man slams Bordens arm into the table with crushing force.
Arrrg! Me arm!, he rises gingerly rubbing at his elbow. Think it will be ok there but you're the strongest one I've ever come across. Borden retreats to the bar for another drink.
Bran Grindle |
Barkeep, that drink for Borden is on me! Nice contest sir! Bran then turns to Shush. Okay, ready when you are!
Best of five again.
Brand grasps Shush's hand, still surging with power from the last match.
I'll go ahead and roll first.
Strength Check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Not sure if you would know, but yes, Bran is Raging at this time.
Narah |
Never!, Borden gasps quite out of breath.
1d20 + 3
But the big man slams Bordens arm into the table with crushing force.
Arrrg! Me arm!, he rises gingerly rubbing at his elbow. Think it will be ok there but you're the strongest one I've ever come across. Borden retreats to the bar for another drink.
Narah slips through the crowd to him at the bar. "So you did find a way to blow off steam after all." She smirks. "Would you like me to have a look at your arm?" she reaches a hand out and barely touches his sleeve with the middle finger tip.
"If I was your lucky charm, that might help. Would you like that?" She looks at him with her typical half smile which only becomes a grin for a fraction of heartbeat and while her eyes keep him fixated, her head is slightly bowed. She keeps her hands held out to take his arm, in case he actually wants her to have a look at it.
Glade Wolf |
Glade has an idea. Arm wrestling proves only strength, but it does not prove how one will do in battle, or how one uses that strength. Anyone up for a battle simulation? I will explain the rules.
Edit: Glade will wait for a couple of responses before explaining it.
Seraphine Jakobs |
Oh, I am hardly a virgin. But I may take you up on the advice.
She perks up at the prospect of sparring with someone
I'm in! I'll take you all on!
Sirsi O'Bannon |
Sirsi shakes her head to clear it, Hmm, think I should slow down a bit pushing the drink aside she casts her eyes around. Arm wrestling - really - do they think that actually impresses anyone?
"તમે ચેસ જેવી અર્થ?"
No wait, that's not right
She shakes her head again and tries to speak again.
"You mean like Chess or Siege?"
Glade Wolf |
Okay, so it seems there is some interest. We take this outside, everyone has 18 seconds 3 rounds upon the last person exiting the door to decide where they want to go, the can place themselves anywhere or even hide if they want to. Magic is allowed, anything is fair game. There is one rule only, non-lethal damage this means attack at -4 penalty only as this is only practice. We can split up into teams or do every person for themself and we go until everyone is unconscious or a team has been eliminated. who is interested?
This would require someone to draw a good environment map that you think fits the scene, unless there already is one drawn for the campaign, I don't have google docs.
Brother Kye |
My sincere thanks Master Dwarf. I'll accept your challenge. Kye moves to the seat across from Hotrek and makes ready to arm wrestle.
First attempt: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Kye knuckles slam against the table. Oh, please allow my knuckles and my dignity a moment to recover. He shakes out his hand and tries again.
Second attempt: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Well, I gave you a bit more of a contest that time. Once more?
He shakes out his hand again and mutters under his breath. Casts Guidance
Third attempt: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
It seems my poorly veiled attempt to cheat is still insufficient to best you. I yield to the better man.
The dice gods saw me cheat I guess.
Seraphine Jakobs |
I can't burn someone nonlethally, so unless you like being burned, I think it is probably safer I sit his one out.
All her spells are cantrips, wards, or things to electrocute/burn things. Pretty much describes her progression as well. As for the map, we don't really need one.
Maia Silndra Rose |
how does one do nonlethal damage from non attack spells :3 my spells are burning hands-2, Color spray-1, Charm person-1 and cantrips :P
I am not so sure, The spells I have for combat are not exactly good for holding back. Maybe I should watch? though, I do have a couple non damaging spell...
Glade Wolf |

Can we just pretend like it is since this is discussion and we aren't in actual gameplay? I'm sure the DM won't have anything against it in this practice fight as this isn't gameplay. Unless you have burning hands or some other autohit, then that is a no.

I guess I have no problem with this, but just an fyi, my spells HURT. lol :3
Edit: I can do a quick thing on roll20, but thats a bit of a hassle for anyone that hasn't used the site.
Seraphine Jakobs |
Well that would limit me to Jolt/of Fire, but I can do it. My other option is an autohit that either causes them to drop their weapon (if they make their save) or take damage (Burning Disarm)
Narah |
"Suppose..." she seems to consider for a moment and then discard the idea with a somewhat vile smirk. "It might be better not turn this tavern into a war zone, especially not with the permission of the host. And I tend to cheat at hiding games, since I always want to be caught."
She turns to Siri: "Do you have a chess board, maybe? A friendly game and an educated conversation sounds charming. We might as well team up and play against some men..."
Glade Wolf |
How are you going to roleplay chess, unless you want to make a google doc map for chess then we can really see what is going on. Also the battle is outside the tavern. We also need a text box on the map or a way to chat so we can do so without crowding the discussion thread with chess play move by move
