Just like the arm wrestling, but with int. Opposed Int/Wis checks
Chess sounds good too. I rule at chess! I beat the old man Lorrimor everytime we played!
Glade Wolf

I actually want to roleplay chess and I'm creating a google doc chess board even as we speak if someone is up for that. We then say in character who is playing and all can click the link and watch. If you want to use int/wis checks you can, but I plan on roleplaying chess.
Maia Silndra Rose
I am up for both.
Chess? I LOVE chess, me and my mentor played it ALL the time, I even beat him a couple times! Sometimes I can force Val into playing with me, but its hard for him to move the pieces. Who is ready to lose hm?
Maia shouts, suddenly cocky and confident.
Morthos Thadrius
"I cannot join in your game Sir Glade. My martial skills are reserved for the enemies of good. I would make no display of them. I would however be willing to mediate the game, a sort of official to make sure rules are followed." Morthos pats the giant flail strapped to his waist.
To Narah in celestial
Because he doesn't know but is suspicious that you speak celestial.
Maia Silndra Rose
- I have even better idea - wicked smirk appears on his lips - Bartender! Can you find us thirty-two glasses? And i also need that bottle of brownish liqor as well as that bottle of clear spirits. We gonna play some chess
Oh my... looks interesting. NO, I SAW THE LINK. YOU NO EDIT OUT lol.

I am up for chess, if anyone wants to challenge me, they have to click on my link, anybody watching click on my link, you can say something once you are in my link, like leave a text box or a note. Link wasn't finished when I was editing it there Mai

Narah smirks a little and wonders whether feigning shame might be convincing... she doesn't even try to act like she wouldn't understand though.
That would have been the question.

Mai, I challenge you You said you were up for both, I will be eating dinner in 18 minutes, you think we can get a game in that time? Or if it is on the hour, you will have to wait another half hour, but we can always pause the chess board if not finished

Shush has not sat down yet. He is waiting for a few minutes.
My fine man, do you happen to be angry about something? Perhaps under the influence of anything? Or perhaps magic?
I am not angry at all, nor have I been subject to any magical influence that I am aware of. I do get a rush when I'm in a physical competition.
Bran relaxes from his position to arm wrestle as he hears there is a Chess game forming.
Did I hear Chess? I remember that game! My father taught me to play when I was very young.
Bran looks back at Sush.
Forget the arm wrestling, too slow little buddy. Time to engage my mind!
Back at the crowd talking about playing Chess..
Could I play?

you can play me if you want to do ooc character chess, then we can post the results of who won in here, first person to step up gets to play me in ooc chess regardless of what link we use. This includes the bartender/DM

Given his usual, very emphasized volume, Bran is hard to be overheard. There is something that strikes her as odd about the wording, though. Does he want to fool his potential opponents into believing he was a novice, while he is really good at it?
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Morthos Thadrius
Morthos chuckles to himself at the question, but answers honestly.
Daniel Chelas
Daniel takes in the events with a casual look.
I've missed out on alot of things, come to think of it. Perhaps someone knows if anything major has happened.
Daniel adresses Narah.
"Pardon Narah, but could you tell me of any important or interesting events that have happened the past few years? After all, i've been "away" for several years.
Glade Wolf
|
its not letting me open it :3 lol. not allowed access Narah, did you want to "play"?
anyone else having problems with my link, or is it your computer. Dinner is starting a little late, lol, fast food restaurants aren't always fast
Narah
Morthos chuckles to himself at the question, but answers honestly.
She comes back from her thoughts and looks straight at you.
She bites her lower lip and ponders for a moment.
To Daniel:
"Oh, certainly... if you tell me how you ended up in hell in turn. Just let me think how I start for a moment."
Need a moment to read up in the Inner Sea World guide.
Maia Silndra Rose
Overhearing the Conversations at the table (or well, some of them none of the whispered ones) She realizes Narah can speak celestial. oh man.. what did she hear earlier? Maybe she knows me? Calm down Maia, you have never did anything wrong but be wrongly accused. Oh, the recent happenings? I could use an update.. besides I would much like to hear Daniels full story myself..
She almost rudely, yet, friendly interrupts Narah and Daniel.
I know many things of the past, and many other things, but I do not keep up with many of the happenings today. Do you mind if I listen as well? Its always good to learn what you can when you can after all! Right Val?
Val-
I think it was a more private conversation Maia..
Oh Nonsense, Daniel doesn't mind. Right? Neither does Narah I bet. Besides, I too want to hear the full story behind his less that unpleasant past. If he would be so kind That is.
Maia Smiles broadly. But you can see the Raven lower its head almost in a sigh.
Narah
Narah looks between Morthos and Daniel, since she wishes to include both in the conversation. At first she holds a little back, but she emphasizes her speak with mild gestures, once wiping her hair back and touching her neck doing so, once supporting one elbow with the hand of the other arm, crossed below her breast, but no motion ever appears unnatural, everything fluent, but expressive at least as much as the words she speaks.
And most details might be taken as an invitation in some way, considering that she is only covered with a thin layer of silk, that it's folded in such a strange way that it just hides the most intimate details, even though it always appears as the next motion would disclose them.
"Oh, it has been quite interesting, but no world shaking events have taken place that I know of. Even though... there has been word of an extremely powerful blue dragon who has flown to Avistan just last year. No one knows its name, its intend or its purpose, but such an old and powerful beast is never without clear intent, even though to grasp it my be beyond the skill of mere mortals. Rumor connects it to destruction of villages and even minor fortified towns in the realms south of the Encarthan... but not a single one soul who could have witnessed such an event has ever been saved... Who knows, maybe something entirely different is going on. Or maybe it's a fraud in the beast's vile plan while it schemes beneath some mountains or consorts with even more powerful creatures.."
"What are you interested in? Politics and the games of the nobles? Frightening monsters from the depth and old? Mysteries and riddles none have answered yet? I can serve your every need."
Sorry for all the edits.

At Maia and everyone else, I'm not use to google docs, but as it was said, I needed to change the setting. Try my link now and if you can open it, say something in character stating I accept or something of that nature, it should be fixed

"Hmmm, Chess is well and good, but I think it's a l'il late in the day"
Glade smiles at the girl You sure, I think you would make a good opponent if Maia doesn't get there first, plus chess isn't a long game. you'll get to play my link, plus if you beat me, you can brag that you beat a man, Narah would be glad to hear it.
Daniel Chelas
"Fair enough. I'll answer your question first.
I come from a Cheliaxian family. My "father"..(tone of disgust n his voice), is a professor at Magnimar university. I was the only one in a family of 16, since the family comes annually together, not to worship Asmodeus. During this annual banquet they made a last attempt at pressing me onto doing so....at which i flatout still refused and said he was a horned freak. That didn't fall too well and my family tied me to the table, my father cut me open and they summoned a herald-devil to take me away."
........
"No, politics and nobles aren't my thing, i'd like to know more about the mysteries, thank you."

Hotrek bows to Kye and explains.
"Tis but a simple trick I used, a turn of the wrist removes most of your opponent's power and allows you to use a little of your own. However against someone like that," Gestures over to Bran "It wouldn't make a difference for that there is pure power."
Narah
Narah arches her head a little as though that wasn't the answer she had been expecting, but continues.
"A youthful rebel is always a story that will appeal to Calistria's followers. If you should ever visit one of her temples, I can imagine many priestesses would be interested in how exactly you defied your father. I know I am." She offers him a short, sly grin.
"The horns of the entity you're referring to are certainly not its worst aspect and I am sure it's fully aware that it's a freak - it doesn't have to play by any rules but its own, the ability to be a freak and still force insane amounts of creatures to exist by its disgrace and live by its image is a part of its power.
Nevertheless, it might be wise not to take it lightly; the truly frightening thing about it is, how it corrupted an entire plane of existence and many nations of this world to bow to its will, without even realizing that they were indeed surrendering to darkness while seeking nothing but their own advantage. By the time you realize that it's playing you and not the other way around, you're already its slave." She clearly doesn't want to use any one of Asmodeus titles or even his name and her voice becomes more quiet as she speak and looks very intently with an alarming undercurrent at Daniel.
"Regarding the mysteries. The Osirian Pharao Khemet III reopened the ruins of Osiria four years ago for foreign explorers. That's not a mystery within itself, but the ruin of the sandstorm temple is yet a riddle. It actually a pretty safe place, with souvenir shops around and things like that. But of a small expedition that went into its deeper and not completely uncaved parts - which should be relatively safe, except for the scorpions - only an insane old man returned. He swore to have spent 30 years within the ruins even though he had left only a week ago, and that it was a strange, haunted place that was ruled over by an enigmatic 'Sandman'. His apparent age, however, fit to the story, for he had been in his early thirties when he left. No evidence for his claim was anywhere to be found and he was put in an asylum. But since then, five more expeditions have suddenly disappeared, part of their equipment and their camels had been found, but not a single one sentient creature."
Well, the mystery part may have been an exaggeration, so I had to make something up... I would have thought of something that takes place in Ustalav, but I tried to use something from the Inner Sea World guide at first.

Awww man. I missed it. Had I been online, as soon as Glade suggested a battle simulation in the bar I'd have just punched him in the face :)
Scowling slightly at a missed opportunity - too absorbed in talking to Nerah and drinking - Borden heads over to watch the Chess game. All aspirants learn to play but he was never good, lacking patience and subtlety... And then he sees Seraphine.
why... He *hick* hello. Thaaat babe ova there, he makes a vague motion towards the Calistrian, She tole me to tell you that I thin' you're really hot, he says with a drunkeness earnestness. I wus jus' intim-intimi-scared of yer an' how beautiful you are, but now I got th' nerve an' I don' care who hears me say it - you're special.
Am I the only real drinker in the room? We're drinking free hooch and it seems I'm (and I think Seraphine) are actually getting drunk... That's not counting the panty waisted weirdos who don't drink booze ;)
Borden Read
Borden is hoping that Seraphine will be short on good sense, realise how handsome Borden is and make out - who knows, that touch of luck blessing will help Borden get 'lucky'... That said Bordens judgement is never good at the best of times :) It'll likely end badly for him but faint heart never won fair lady or random bar girl either for that matter
Daniel Chelas

......., his hair might be covering some of it, but it's obvious he's got a color on his cheeks.
As he refinds his focus he nods."Indeed, i had taken it too lightly shouting it then, even though i meant it. You never really expect a devil to show up and take you away after all. I am thankful i didn't go lower than Avernus."
He listens with full attention to the Osirian tale.
"I have heard of the ruins of Osiria before in the Magnimar library and a few lectures, but that tale entirely is new to me. Sounds like this 'Sandman' controls time, but then again i am not versed in arcane arts so i can't say anything for certain. Thank you for the tale."

Seeing that seen across the room she mumbles in slight despair: Gorgeous... I said 'gorgeous'.
She lifts her and wonders whether a dazing touch can solve the problem... or whether she might trip him with her whip. But every possible solution only makes it worse. Calistria, let her be really drunk as well! Too bad her charm spell works only for herself as subject...

"Possible. There have been speculations that he may be related to the dimension of dreams in some way, though solely based on the name. It's debatable whether he even exists. But something is out there."
"If you would excuse me? There is something I need to attend to."
She glances to Borden again...
She considers to charm him, act as though she was seducing him and drag him to bed, if things went weird. But for now, she rather waits a little to see how Seraphine reacts.
Bed is a good keyword, though, hence the brief answer; normally I'd have tried to keep Daniel entertained for longer. That's where I'll be. Have fun!
Seraphine Jakobs
Seraphina bursts out laughing, which seems to go on for a while, seemingly very enthused by Borden's advances. But then she gets a weird look on her face, vomits on Borden, then passes out.
It seems, with all this free Pharasma's Penance, that she has had a bit too much to drink.
Normally I would love to see how this would play out (fire would have inevitably been involved), but I will be unable to post until Monday, and by then we'd all have an answer on acceptance and the scene would be over. Better luck next time, Borden! And good luck to everyone getting in.
