Hobwise: DC 20 for something like that at night, on the run, in an open rough field. You gain advantage if Wulfgith helps instead of attacking this round.
As for the cunning action, I'm not sure how that interacts with the chase rules. But I'll check tomorrow to see if that question has already been answered somewhere.
Findegil
@Cereidh: From a few days back, easily missed amid all the text:
Findegil: It is a CON check.
Giles Foxleaf
Thorgrim asked: Double move? Isn't it only possible to do a double move by using your Action to do a Dash action? Which needs a Con check now? Or did I miss something?
---
I'll say I'm not at all certain. (I'm still learning 5e...and of course am brand new to the ME variant rules.) DM, if I'm missing some rolls either let me know what I need to roll for, or feel free to roll them for me.
Thanks!
DM - Tareth
Yes, a double move is a Dash. While the chase has officially come to an end (because Wulfgith and Hobwise are engaged with the creature) the rest of you have a long way to go to catch up.
In order to keep Dashing, it seems like CON checks would still be required. This isn't explicitly stated in the rules, but it makes sense. Also keep in mind you get 3 plus your CON modifier dashes before needing to make the CON check for exhaustion. So Findegil and Thorgrim would get 6 dash actions, Giles would only have gotten 2 (-1 CON modifier), and Cereidh 4. Hobwise and Wulfgith were mounted for most of the chase and I would give a horse a lot more than 4 dash actions before it would start to tire.
So yes, Giles and Cereidh would need to continue to make CON checks. Findegil and Thorgrim should be fine over all for another round or so.

I thought Findegil had run out of dashes. He would have kept dashing if possible.

Cereidh just assumes the suggestion came from Giles' kind nature, and kind of agrees with it - but she probably looks and feels like sh*t, so she's letting everyone else speak.

Wow that was a lot to come back to after work! XD
I got home and set to work on something, Tareth knows what, and got lost in my work and podcast that when I thought 'I should actually look at my games before going to bed' I just saw this and went '... Oh Wulfgith will have her work cut out for her tomorrow when I get up..' so... Till then! He...he...he *worried expression*
Wulfgith daughter of Wulf
In character, Wulfgith would do what she could to hurry them back to Elrond. Because that artifact is dangerous and the longer it is out here then the most likely it might fall into the wrong hand.
As a player... I wouldn't mind exploring though I'm nervous as half of the group is exhausted...
Findegil
I'm game for the tower.
Findegil dislikes leaving a job unfinished, and that tower screams "fell domain of the foe"!
Giles Foxleaf
I'm not clear who was exhausted at the end of the fight?
If need be, I have one portion of Athelas, which I can use to remove 1 level of exhaustion from up to 6 people...though once we use it, it's gone.
(Alternately...is it too late to make nice with someone in the village, and get a good night's sleep to deal with the exhaustion?)
Cereidh
I think Cereidh currently has a whopping two levels of exhaustion. As a player, I also want to go to the Towers and interact with the Content, but tactics are not my strong suite, so that's not really solid advice - but I'm on board for the plan!

Even if Tareth was the kind of low-class GM to spam random encounters (and he's not) then we can just sit in the middle of the woods and spam long rests until we get enough to cure everyone of their exhaustion.
Don't let the exhaustion be a reason you don't seek out adventure.

Also, it looks like we've got 3.5 votes for the Tower (I'm counting Giles as half a vote each way). Or 4.5 votes if we count Hobwise as in for the Tower, and I swear by his pretty unicorn shirt that he's up for that.
...what?
DM - Tareth
Giles: Cereidh has 2 levels of exhaustion, You have 2 levels, and Findegil has one level according to my tally.
I think we will not enter a Journey phase at this point. Since you are still searching for the ruins and the distance isn't a week or more, I'm going to keep us in the Adventure phase. This means Long Rests are possible as long as Thorgrim doesn't totally botch any survival rolls. ;)

Hurrah!

Giles, would it be possible for you to fill some stuff in your tagline header?
It's easier to get a feel of how everyone is doing, and what everyone can do, if at least things like HP, AC, and saves are readily available data.
Findegil
@Giles: I say go for it. There is no point in hoarding uses for some future date when we are quite certain that we'll be facing a horror of the Shadow imminently.
Findegil
Just a note. My rate of posting has gotten more erratic lately. It may remain that way for some weeks yet.

Yeah I noticed and I might I say well done sir! Wink wink nudge nudge! A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat!
Oh, wait. That's an 'a' not an 'o'.
Hobwise Hornblower
You remind me, Findegil, that I have been unintentionally violating one of my own rules - to let others know if I'm not going to post. Unintentional because I am not not posting for any specific reason, but the rest of the party is moving things along fine without Hobwise chirping in.

Enjoy!

+++I interrupt your scheduled game+++
Hi all
Therenger said it was ok for me to post here so I jsut wanted to let you know I'm planning to run the Mirkwood campaign. I've got three players already but I'm looking for at least one more, and could be willing to consider a party of six.
There's no recruitment but there is a discussion thread.
Pleae note that (1) I'm a novice GM so won't be to everyone's taste. In particular, please don't pick anything too weird and wonderful (High Elves with a penchant for Shakespeare, for example) (2) The Mirkwood campaign is not a conventional AP, which means you need to be tied into the setting of Mirkwood and have something to fight for rather than against, because it is canon that you won't be the ones who defeat the BBEG. (3) Any "Ah, glorios combat, let us kill them all" type characters won't last long.
If you've read all that and you're still interested, I look forward to reading your posts.

Hey, guys, on top of everything else our little fellowship has to deal with - we do have a suicidally depressed and traumatized party member. I was hoping that Cereidh's Insight check would give her some read on his mood, but no dice.
Suggestions or ideas for how to tackle this obvious B-plot? (Not to knock it, I am About character-driven drama). I'm fine with waiting until something Really Bad happens to address it in-character for angst value, but I'd like that to be an intentional choice.

You're reading too much into it.
