I think what has happen is that since our levels advanced alot quicker then what the book planned for, the main plot was advanced to try and keep pace : )

@Npcs/missed content - I don't have the slightest clue about which Npc's are around sadly. Well, that is a lie, here is the ones I can recall: A few named trappers around Olegs, Oleg & Svetlanna, that Fairydragon and his friend, some guy Roan had a runin with in the small border village north of us, the steamboat captain, Sanitas weird family, A few named kobolds (chief, the one 'we' saved first), Powerful evil fae, Hag, Troll king, Our Centaur hating neighbour (and some of his retainers I think), the guy that brought a small army trough our lands towards the west, his grunts and ...
I *think* those are it. Sadly no names for most of them.
But! I have a suggestion, a counterproposal if you will. Could we not send the cohorts (when we have them!) out to pick up our slack? Having them hunt down some tazelwyrm (spelling?) that we are to busy to deal with sounds like the perfect use of said cohorts.
To make it easier, finding it could be a set of skill challenges (like make 2 survival checks at DC X and a know (nature) check at DC Y, every try takes 3 days). Then just a quick fight with said beast.
That is, I assume most of the missed content is in this format (ie - Z need to be found and dealt with). And to make it so that it doesn't eat all your spare time mdt I could run the skill challenges and combat in a secondary thread so that the cohorts get a chance to talk if needed. Then after each "quest" is done, if there is a need, you could drop by and provide some plot exposition (ie "you killed the Tazelwyrm and everyone is impressed") or something.
Comments? Thoughts?
mdt |
That could work for some of it.
For the tatzlwyrms, I'm just going to go ahead with it having been done by NPC, as there are things in the AP that require it.
For other things, as we progress through book 2, I'll wait and see if you do them. If you don't, we'll see about NPCs making checks.
I've got two threads already, I don't think I want to add in another thread for cohorts. :)

I've got two threads already, I don't think I want to add in another thread for cohorts. :)
Yah, I recall you said this when I tried to shoe-horn the cohort thread in last time. That is why I offered to take care of some parts of it :P
Additionally, I am looking forward to see how the AP about kingdom building hinges on slaying a smallish dragon thingy in the forest ^^
Fhârn |
I would have rolled Intimidate for Munin, but between a lack of skill, his animal charisma and size penalties he would be about as scary as a teddybear. Makes one wonder if anyone is really afraid of bugs or mice in the pathfinder world ... : )
mdt |
I'll have updates tonight, if possible. Been sort of waiting on Felix and Dareon to check into the other thread. If they've dropped out entirely, I'd rather consolidate both groups into one before you leave.
Wilhelm Orlovsky |
Makes sense to wait. I know leinathan (Dareon) is around, as he's in another game I'm playing in. I sent PMs to both of them, so hopefully they'll take the bait and join up. :)
Wilhelm Orlovsky |
No worries, just glad to see you're still around. :)

A new and shiny release by Paizo and it is up on d20pfsrd (why it is in the "magic armour" directory, I don't know!). It contains a way to solve one of the greatest dilemmas that has plagued my mind for a very long time now - my familiar.
I really like Munin. But I also really would like a Mephit familiar (and give it a small sword and a small chain and ect). Now, thanks to the Mascot familiar archetype, I can (with some trickery).
A familiar sometimes serves as the centerpiece of an adventuring party, eventually binding the team together into a collective master.
Class Skills: A mascot treats all Perform skills as class skills.
Affinity for My Team (Su)
A mascot is the heart and soul of its team, which at first consists of only the familiar and its master. At 1st level and every 3 levels thereafter, a mascot can add an additional member to its team. A mascot's empathic link extends to all members of its team.
A mascot can add or remove one team member over the course of a day. If a team member dies, the mascot gains 1 permanent negative level.
This ability replaces alertness and alters empathic link.
Lucky Mascot (Su)
Whenever a mascot uses the aid another action to aid a team member's attack roll or AC, that team member also gains a +1 luck bonus on all attack rolls or to AC for 1 round.
This ability replaces improved evasion.
Share Spells
At 3rd level, spells targeting a mascot via its share spells ability function at its level – 2. The mascot can benefit from the spells of any team member when using share spells.
Deliver Touch Spells (Su)
At 5th level, spells delivered by a mascot's deliver touch spells ability function at its level – 2. The mascot can deliver the touch spells of any team member.
This ability alters deliver touch spells.
Speak with Team (Ex)
At 7th level, a mascot gains the ability to speak with all members of its team verbally as if using speak with master.
This ability replaces speak with master and speak with animals of its kind.
Heart of the Team (Ex)
At 13th level, as a full-round action, a mascot can designate any member of its team as its master for the purposes of calculating its Hit Dice, hit points, base attack bonus, saving throws, and skill ranks.
This ability replaces spell resistance and scry on familiar.
As you can see - this archetype lets one bond with extra people to the tune of 1 + 1 extra at level 4, 7 ect. So for a cohort at level 5, this would be two people - Fhârn and his cohort!
My cohort has been planned as a Bard - and guess whom just got an archetype that gives the class a familiar =)? That is right! The Sorcerer, Fighter, Bloodrager, Druid (kindof), Paladin and - most importantly - the Bard!
Whether singing a delicate duo with a nightingale or slipping coins from purses while a trained monkey distracts the crowd, the duettist blends his bond to his familiar with his natural talent for performance to create amazing effects.
Diminished Competency: A duettist does not gain the well-versed or jack-of-all-trades class features.
Familiar (Ex)
At 1st level, a duettist gains a familiar, treating his bard level as his effective wizard level for the purpose of this ability.
This ability replaces bardic knowledge.
Versatile Familiar (Ex)
At 2nd level, a duettist's familiar learns to use performance to supplement its skills. A duettist's familiar benefits from its master's versatile performance class feature.
This ability alters versatile performance.
Performing Familiar (Su)
At 4th level, a duettist's familiar learns how to create supernatural effects with its performances, just like its master. The familiar can use any of its master's bardic performances, but only the familiar or the duettist can have a performance active at any given time, not both. If one is performing and the other starts a performance, the previous performance immediately ends. Each round that the familiar performs consumes 2 rounds of the duettist's bardic performance.
This ability replaces lore master.
Harmonizing Familiar (Su)
At 8th level, the duettist and his familiar have learned how to perform together in harmony. When a duettist and his familiar perform the same bardic performance simultaneously, its effects are enhanced. If the performance has a DC, the DC increases by 2. If the performance provides a competence bonus, the competence bonus increases by 1. Because both the duettist and the familiar are performing, each round performed consumes 3 rounds of bardic performance.
This ability replaces dirge of doom.
Symphonic Familiar (Su)
At 14th level, the duettist and his familiar have learned how to create a symphony of complementary performances that meld together to produce two different effects. They can each perform a different bardic performance simultaneously, and each has its full effect. Because both the duettist and the familiar are performing, each round performed consumes 3 rounds of bardic performance.
This ability replaces frightening tune.
Thus - all the pieces are in place (now I just need to hold on until level 7 :D).
But! Before I get ahead of myself, I thought I'd ask if we will indeed be including this book. And if it is okay that I basically steal a class feature from my cohort (Munin will still mostly tag along with Fhârn). [Okay more like borrow, I think they will get shared custody.]
Thoughts =)?
Edit: Not to mention - this will let Munin use my cohorts ranks for things such as Bluff : )

-Yey-
Edit: @mdt - Also, when and if you find the time, could you import the campaign info and the links from the old (original) campaign page?
Wilhelm Orlovsky |
Giving Felicia a change to post as a diplomat, then I'll put something up tomorrow otherwise. My post can then be an aid if there's a later addition/response. :)
Fhârn |
Fhârn has a single rank in Linguistics, enough for a total +6 modifier. A simple message is DC 20, while a standard is DC 25. (Both the examples given are for written sources, but Linguistics states that it works for both verbal and written works.) Given time (taking 20) Fhârn might be able to produce some communication. It would, however, progress at a snail's pace and I am a bit fatigued at the moment (visited family during the weekend. My brother is leaving for Chile for 5-6 months so we spent all night talking and playing games) so smart and elaborate pictogram might take a little while.
But! Felicia/Felix has the right idea and is making progress, and diplomacy is sort of her/his schtick, so I am very okay with him/her dealing with this. Even if this means it might take a few posts extra : )
Fhârn |
Random thought of the day: If we had an alchemist with the Infusion discovery, it would have been easier. We would just have to trick the frog-man to drink an Extract of Comprehend Languages!
(Note: Comprehend Language works on spoken words too - all we need is to get the frog-man to start talking about himself and play 20 questions with us!)
@Anastacia - If we have some spare time, Fhârn could scribe some scrolls for you. The cooperative crafting rules okay that one character contributes with the spell and one the feat, as long as both is present : )
Felix Sebastian Orlovsky |
In all my haste with dealing with frog man and trying to get through a heavy two weeks I missed the question about names. Shimmerscale will respond to her kobold name, or her human transgendered name. If it ever comes up she also still turns and responds to Felix or lord Felix as old habits die hard.
Rowan Gideon |
I apologize for the last minute notice but I've just been assigned to go on a 60 day long field op and leaving tomorrow. Rowan has been updated, npc him as necessary and I'll post whenever I'm able to.
Fhârn |
Stay safe!
Wilhelm Orlovsky |
Sorry about the missed posting. I'm going away on vacation starting Next Wednesday (2/4) and have been busy getting ready for that. My apologies for not giving a heads up. I'll be around until 2/4 AM (~11 PST e.g. GMT-8) and then I'll be travelling until 2/6 AM (GMT + 7). I'll be able to post (with possible gaps) until 2/22 (GMT+8). I'm going to Thailand for the first time. :)
Fhârn |
Mmmm .... Thailand is a warm and wonderful place. Just don't look to hard at their telephone/power-lines :)
Fhârn |
That does remind me - why haven't I seen the last season of that yet? Brb a week or so!
Fhârn |
I've heard the terrible tale of the foreigner whom went to Denmark on a ski-semester, since "Scandinavia has such beautiful mountains".
(Note: some comics at that page, especially among the earlier, is slightly unsafe for work!)
Fhârn |
Interesting gesture they picked. I wonder if I should play a little trick on them ... :)
Fhârn |
Sorry to hear Felix/Felicia.
Felix Sebastian Orlovsky |
Thank you fharn. Dawned on me the previous post makes little sense out of context, a relative of mine passed away due to his furnace having a burn issue. His gentile girlfriend's funeral is this week and we are helping with that as well. It has been a difficult week and I don't really understand why goyim decide to take so long on burials.
Edit: Also people should never out live their children, so if you have parents still alive please be as careful with your life and check your furnaces.
Wilhelm Orlovsky |
I'm so sorry to hear that, Felix. My condolences to you and your family.
Anastacia Stormwing |
Changed my spells for the day. Speak w/dead out for summon monster III, and whispering lore for summon monster II.
Augury does not seem like it would work for the situation, but whispering lore might.
Or not. It's a racial spell for elves.
Fhârn |
I apologize for the last minute notice but I've just been assigned to go on a 60 day long field op and leaving tomorrow. Rowan has been updated, npc him as necessary and I'll post whenever I'm able to.
By that schedule, he should be back 'home' in the end of March. Also given the nature of a field op, I guess he hasn't been able to post : )
Fhârn |
The villagers have a point - we will probably have to work with both them and the Boggard to resolve this. Preferably by integrating the later a bit more. And teaching/giving him access to Common.
But first and foremost we should probably look into this lumberjack situation. That "groove of old trees" sound like the perfect dwelling spot for some choice of vengeful fae. Which, incidentally, might be a plausible source for the bad juju that's seeping in everywhere.
Thoughts ?=)
mdt |
Ok, I'm at a point where I can recruit more people again for this. I'll put up a recruitment thread. We're at 6 players right now. I'm thinking we recruit 2-3, expecting to loose 1 or 2 of the new players given the typical attrition rate. If you guys get overwhelmed by the submissions and want to recruit more, I can work with that as long as we split into two tables again.
I'll post the recruitment thread link here when I'm done.
Recruitment thread is now linked to the campaign on the recruitment tab.
Fhârn |
@Recruitment - You might wanna mention that we have a Paladin for king. I noticed an evil applicant, a cleric even (but of a neutral god), which might not be super smooth ... : )
Fhârn |
@Recruitment - I'll swing by and say hi to the guy wanting a link tomorrow. There is too little left of today to start anything like that : )
Fhârn |
Hmm. OOC, I'm feeling pretty sure on that the lumber-mill thingy is fey related. And IC I think that is what Fhârn would guess too. He do know how fey likes forests and all that - can't think of many other brands of critters that would protect trees (perhaps some brand of Kami, but that isn't something he'll know about). There are probably just as many legends in Issia about the fey as there is in the real world.
However! That said - is it reasonable to assume he'd know that Protection from Chaos would come in handy, if indeed such foul play is at work? Perhaps a know check?
Also - If he were to ask Anastacia to prepare said spell - and then he were to craft a scroll using the cooperative crafting rules (another caster can provide spells for items), would the scroll be arcane (so he could scribe it :D)?
