Just take your time mdt, it's not the end of the world if we miss a few days once in a while, new D3 season soon :)
Since we are nearing the end of our planned rute, I would love to get some downtime to retrain into the Unchained Rogue and perhaps a feat, depending on the time and cost.
Fhârn |
And I would love to hunt down a few spells. I think there might even be some in the Guild ... And it might give us some time to integrate our parleying friend before we have to introduce Ikit : )
Wilhelm Orlovsky |
...we have to introduce Ikit
Did I miss something there? Is he going to join this group?
So it sounds like we want to go ahead and head back to the capitol to rest and resupply. Is that right? Reply pending until tomorrow midday PST. Will take us back to Zatoska unless I hear otherwise. :)
Fhârn |
To the citizens of our city, I meant. Both rat-man and frog-man at the same time might be a bit much :P

Hi all,
My apologies, this last week has been... stressful. I had to fly to another state to deal with a family issue. My father had to undergo a semi-routine medical procedure, but he had some sort of breakdown during the procedure. The doctors suspect it's from the anesthetic, it's put him in a state of dementia. We're hoping he will recover, but the week was extremely busy and very draining. I spent most of last night and today sleeping.
I'll try to get back to posting this week, as soon as I have energy to GM.
MDT
Gorruum |
I'm very sorry mdt. Don't worry about us. We can pick the game up when things are better for you. I hope your father improves.
Natalie Saratov |
just checking it so I can see what's new when we begin here again :)
mdt |
I am assuming you are NOT actually going to explore F17. Rowan's group explored it before they ran out of steam. The only thing they found was an old pit trap with a half starved thylacine in it. They fed the creature and then released it.
So I'll assume you head down to the old Stag Lord fort, and then west into F18.
Remember, the map shows north as up and left. However, I'm using top of map as north, bottom south, and left west and right east, as that's how maps are usually oriented and it saves me headaches when I'm in a hurry.
Also, do you really want to go explore H17 again? Where the gnome was?
Fhârn |
There! Just like I mentioned in the other thread, now I've injected some sideplot stuff here too : )
And of course, if you find the practice annoying/disruptive, just point it out and I'll stop doing it (I just like to add my scenes once I know what is happening, as to not give contrary directives)!
I'll just add that I find the practice really useful to go over non mechanical or plot critical character development. Sorta like a sitting at the campfire scene, but without blocking the main game for 3 weeks irl :P
And now - to actually respond to what is actually happening : )
ps - oh and @spoilers. My personal policy as a PC is that it is totally okay (even encouraged!) for other players to look at my spoilers.
If they are directed @playername they might not be very interesting for someone else of course :P *
*Unless we are going to engage in intra party pvp plotting. But then I think we are going to need a serious discussion and rerouteing of the plot anyway ...
mdt |
I'm fine with it. I figure most of that is for the other players to play off of. Anything you want me to play off of (specifically, and not just me taking off with stuff you post) send me via PM.
Fhârn |
Yeah. It is mostly something for me to add small details with, and for others to poke at if they want, outside the plot critical scenes : )
(Would feel weird - for example - if Fhârn started talking about and introducing his new familiar with people risking to drown just a bit away :P)
Also - @Path It does seem a bit weird. I'm not sure if Will had something planned (maybe he'll chime in :P) otherwise I can take a look at it later tonight (I think!).
Natalie Saratov |
My best guess is an Earth mephit (if they are called that)
Lumnia |
Ooooh that is actually pretty close.
I *think* Lumnia's Mephit type is one with a bit of Earth thrown in (like how Steam Mephits have the Fire subtype but flavour wise have some water thrown in too!). But I'm not 100% - more like 98% :P
Edit - The pathfinder approved prefixes for Mephits are:
Ice
Air
Smoke
Fire
Magma
Earth
Ooze
Water
Steam
Dust
Salt

Just a note for the player. The saw-toothed sabres are the signature weapon that the assassin guild, but they do encourage others to use them to, often providing free lessons while disguised or not working. The more people use them, the easier it is for the assassins to pass unnoticed. Sort of how all dolphins are whales, but not all whales are dolphins. In this case, all assassins use those swords, but not all saw tooth sabre users are assassins. It is, of course, something to be aware of. Now, if your character just doesn't know that, that's fine. I wanted to make sure the player was aware though.
Natalie Saratov |
@ mdt
I didn't know that, I read in my Inner sea world guide about Red mantis assassin and I never saw that infomation anywhere. So since I didn't know that Natalie knows the same as me, the dangers of infomation is, it's double edged sword something is reliable other is hearsay :)
Natalie Saratov |
I thought it was only allowed around the island where the Mantis comes from, and that Brevoy was to far away to know the spread of it except for the Mantis themselves.
Fhârn |
+1!
Lumnia |
Given the developments last turn, would it be okay to assume Lumnia is hovering at the edge of the river?
Then she could take the rope from anyone that has one but isn't feeling like entering the water : )
Ikit the White |
Checking in
Lumnia |
Just a quick note:
<- Dust Mephit aka Outsider from the Plane of Air
Normally it wouldn't really nitpick, but given the prevalence of real fairies in this campaign I though I'd just point it out to prevent confusion down the line.
Granted, IC people might not know the difference [especially not random 'common people'], but it might be good to know OOC : )
edit: But 'faire' might just be a shorthand for 'small-ish winged humanoid' - in that case, simply disregard this :P

Hope everyone had a good new year. I see that (due to my inactivity) the other thread has been marked inactive. I am in the process of selling my house and moving so I've had a pretty hectic month and a half.
mdt. Should I rez the other thread, jump in here or take a hike?
mdt |
Let me know when you're going to be able to post regularly (and the frequency), and we'll figure out which. Rowan appears to have also been unable to post regularly with his deployment either. Nice to see you back.
If you'll be able to post regularly (every day or two) we'll just bring you into this thread. If it's going to be once every week or two like before, I'll open the other thread back up again.
Fhârn |
@Dante - Hi; nice to see you. The new year has been quite nice so far! : )
@Dumb Mephits - Both my familiars had an int of 6. But while Munin was a smart bird, Lumnia is a somewhat dumb person (Mephits are cool, but clearly not known for their brains :P). Let me know if there are too many 'hah silly mephit doesn't really understand what he means' jokes : )
Just wanted to throw that out there since I'm waiting for an airport with a slow Wi-Fi and have plenty of time to think, but not enough energy to do anything useful with it ^^
Natalie Saratov |
Maybe he fell in the water wtihout us noticing. :p
Wilhelm Orlovsky |
Hi folks, sorry for leaving you hanging. I was travelling over the holidays and got behind. I've been ridiculously busy at work and apartment hunting since I returned, so I've had a hard time catching up. Is my understanding of the current situation right:
Everyone but Gorruum and Pruett are safely on shore (on the side without the gnome wagons)? The wagon itself is still on the shore, as all of our issues arose from people entering the water to try to drag it across. Is that right or did I miss something?
Gorruum |
I think you have it right. Gorruum and Ubagub were about to help with the wagon when everything went sideways. Swimming lessons all around!
mdt |
There are a dozen gnomes and two wagons on the east side of the river. Also there are everyone but Gorruum and Ubagub, Pruett, and Wilhelm. Gorruum & Ubagub are in the river with Pruett and his horse. The only person on the west side of the river is Wilhelm and his horse.
Gorruum |
Maybe I should finish rescuing Pruett before you dive in Wilhelm :)
Natalie Saratov |
I think I might have lost track, did we get all the wagons to one side or are there still one we need to handle?
mdt |
Yep, he got over, he just didn't look good doing it. He needed a 15, got a 14. His military saddle kept him from falling off, but he looked silly on arrival. :)
And yeah, the ropes are all stretched over the river, just requires the horse owners to get settled again, and get their horses to start pulling while Gorruum steers the wagon from the water (the yolk is broken, so it's got no steering unless someone in the water holds the yolk to keep the water from pushing the wheels around.).
Wilhelm Orlovsky |
Just checking in to say I'm still around and watching this thread. :)
