What is it the elf woman is using? at first I thought it was fascinate but that would not daze people.
Edit:
Wasn't meant as a question to you mdt more asking cause I'm currently building a bard for pfs play and wanted to look into that

Unique creature power. She looks like an elf, but she isn't.
Captivating Dance (Su) When a [redacted] dances, all living creatures within 30 feet that view the rhythmic swaying and movements of her body must succeed on a DC 19 Will save or become utterly enthralled and captivated. Creatures that are sexually attracted to females who view this dance suffer a –2 penalty on their saving throw. A creature that makes its save cannot be affected again by the same [redacted] captivating dance for one day. A captivated creature is dazed (it cannot attack, but can defend normally). This continues for as long as the [redacted] dances. A [redacted] can move and act normally (including using her spell-like abilities) while maintaining her dance. The save DC is Charisma-based.
Quite a nasty ability.

Fhârn |

I'm just happy it is only one [redacted]. Met a trio in another game, that was messy ...
[redacted] is a whole ball of nasty, just like that other thing they share a name with ... :P
@Bard thing - Distraction might be able to turn a dangerous encounter into a cool dance-off instead :P

Wilhelm Orlovsky |

So my AC should be 23 now (my base value) as I"m free of the entangle. Protection from Evil went on Gorrum to try to break the mind control. Did the attack still hit? If so, I'm on the ground and bleeding out.

mdt |

Wilhelm, your character sheet lists the following for AC :
Armor Class 23 (+1 Dex +10 armor +2 deflection vs evil)
Is the character sheet wrong or correct? If it's +2 deflection vs evil, then the attack hits, as the attacker wasn't evil. If it's incorrect, please fix your character sheet.

Wilhelm Orlovsky |

Yea, I noticed that when I was going back over it to see if I was wrong. My character sheet is wrong and is corrected now. I don't have protection from evil and my AC is only 21. I'm on the floor and bleeding out. You beat me to the edit. :)

Yeah, they are not that bad on their own, but with allies, they are nasty. And the AP is set up so if you don't kill the elf guy with claws, he's there as an ally. He's actually not that dangerous, it's his pet that is dangerous.

mdt |

No problem. Sorry about this fight, it's the AP. It's not unwinnable, even now, but it's not a fun fight for sure. On the bright side, once Wilhelm and Natalie are both down, Gorruum's suggestion ends, as it only covered them.

Natalie Saratov |

Might drink a potion of invisibility once the elf guy is dealt with, that should break the suggestion

Wilhelm Orlovsky |

Not looking good at this point. IF she can keep dancing while draining everyone, that's going to be bad.

Wilhelm Orlovsky |

Yea, makes sense. Think that's all the PCs (Gorruum and Natalie).

Natalie Saratov |

I'll try to aid you, hoping if I try to blind you, you will be able to join us

Fhârn |

That is incredible cunning. If she can't *see* the dance, it won't screw her over (probably!).

Natalie Saratov |

It depends if mdt will allow me to use dirty trick to throw powder in her eyes or use one of my sacks to put over her head.

Natalie Saratov |

I'm visible again, but suggestion should end completely when Gorruum thought that he had completed it, Wilhelm was down and I weren't any place to be seen.
"If the suggested activity can be completed in a shorter time, the spell ends when the subject finishes what it was asked to do."
@ Anastacia
I forgot to add the smokesticks to my profile, so I have just crossed them off and buy a new batch when we get the chance

Wilhelm Orlovsky |

Just checking in while Wilhelm is off in la-la land. :)

Natalie Saratov |

I think we are waiting to see what happens, The elf man keeps attack but what about the plant?

Fhârn |

Sorry, thought I was stuck this round too : )

Fhârn |

Yah, I actually checked since I needed to know my penalties :P

mdt |

I will note it could have been possible to negotiate with the Elf Woman. She was evil, but not Chaotic, so negotiation was possible. However, having a paladin ping evil on her made her think that was not an option so she attacked. Basically she took it as a sign of aggression. (Not an unreasonable perception due to how most Paladin's operate).
Not that the AP allowed that, but unless they are CE murderers (like the first one in the courtyard), I assume things with 12+ int will think about what is best for themselves long term.

Wilhelm Orlovsky |

Good to know, and her actions make perfect sense given that Wilhelm's 'gaze' might well imply an imminent threat of death. Wilhelm isn't one slay first and ask questions later, but she couldn't know that. Good learning experience for him (and the man behind the king baron).
Edit: Wilhelm's pride got the better of him and he claimed a title he hasn't earned (yet).

mdt |

Anastacia, which item did you appraise? I need an appraise roll for every item. Natalie can appraise too, yes?
As the GM, I'll shortcut a bit and let you know that following the elf creature will be extremely difficult, as it can use it's climb ability to move from tree to tree, thanks to the density of the forest hear abouts. Meaning it won't leave a trail on the ground. Not only that, but this is it's home area, so it's setup vine growths between trees for several miles around, to facilitate moving around without being noticed, or for quick getaways.
The vine does leave a trail, but no scent, other than plant. If it moves slow, it won't leave a trail. It also has a natural ability to blend into the bushes, unless you're right on top of it and actively looking for it, you don't see it until it moves.

Gorruum |

Posted before reading this...best for me to just post that I find some evidence, but it looks like it will be extremely hard to find them?

mdt |

Like I said, you can roll it, but you'll need to make 4 DC 25 checks to find out where he drops down out of the trees to move through the forest. Part of the problem is, all the trees have marks from where he moves around them. Kind of like trying to follow a specific bull's most recent tracks through the paddock he lives in. Given the DC goes up every time you fail and retry...

Natalie Saratov |

I can only appraise untrained, so it's not that great of a check.

Gorruum |

Better than my minus one. Gorruum thinks everything is shiney :)

Natalie Saratov |

I didn't really find it relevant for a spy master so I focused on skills that could be useful for that purpose

Fhârn |

Luckily the best of all normal familiars, the raven, gives an appraise bonus :P

Wilhelm Orlovsky |

I'm assuming your silence, MDT, means the annoying/deadly thing isn't coming back?

Wilhelm Orlovsky |

Sorry, to clarify, I meant Anastacia was trying to bluff the elf with claws thing to come back by pretending the dancer was alive. If it won't work, then let us know. :)

mdt |

OH! I thought she was making fun of Wilhelm. :)
No, by the time she'd done that, he was gone. He saw her give out her death curse, that only works if she actually dies, so he knows she was dead. It literally doesn't work unless she's already dead (the magic propels her mind and body to act, even if you destroyed her body her spirit would linger to do the death curse).

Anastacia Stormwing |

Making fun of people really isn't in Anastacia's wheelhouse.
I wouldn't have guessed that the feral elf would know so much about the dancer's physiology, but if he does he does.
So that leaves we player with the choice: Do we leave him and his pet vine be, or do we climb up into the trees to hunt them. Both options seem like no-win situations to me.

Wilhelm Orlovsky |

I think climbing trees in full plate is going to end with you carting Wilhelm home with a broken neck. Careful watch and potentially enlisting the aid of the fey seem like our options.

mdt |

Just note, 'feral elf' and 'elf woman' is just what the group assumes they are, having failed their knowledge checks. And, the two *had* been living in the same fort for what is obviously a long time. So him having knowledge of her is hardly surprising, especially if he's one of her servants.

Fhârn |

Huh, I thought we realized that the 'elf woman' wasn't an 'elf woman' once she started to sprout threats in Sylvan and acting all faë-like*!
*dancing, seducing people that most likely would have ended up dead if alone ...
Give me a nudge if that was an unreasonable conclusion to draw IC : )
Also, I'm going to have to track down this spell!
School transmutation; Level bard 3, druid 3, inquisitor 3, magus 2, ranger 2, shaman 2, sorcerer/wizard 2, witch 2
CASTING
Casting Time 1 swift action
Components V
EFFECT
Range personal
Target you
Duration 1 round
DESCRIPTION
You can cast this spell only if it is the first action you take on your turn. In a burst of shadowy feathers, you turn into a Tiny blurred shape reminiscent of a black raven until the beginning of your next turn. You gain a fly speed of 50 feet with good maneuverability, and apply appropriate size modifiers (though your ability scores don't change). Until the beginning of your next turn, you can take only the 5-foot step, move, run, or withdraw actions. If the spell is dispelled while you are still aloft, the power of flight dissipates slowly; you float downward 60 feet on your next turn, then fall any remaining distance.

Wilhelm Orlovsky |

So I'm curious, how tall and heavily built is Fhârn? From your description, you're slightly bigger then average, which sounds like you're a bit smaller then Wilhelm. Wilhelm stands about 6'1" (1.8542 meters for most of the world) and weights about 200 lbs (90.71 KG) with most of that being muscle.
